Uriah Heep Issue:
-------- --------- -------- -------- -----
~ One of the most Spectacular And Smart British Bands back in the day "URIAH HEEP" , who created by the remarkable musician Mick Box. They made their first appearance in London, England in 1969 with their special talents and the voice of Byron with unbelievable dimensions.
~ First of all, consisted of Mick Box guitar, Roger Penlington drums, David Garrick vocals, as known as David 'Byron', who learn commercial success with the first Uriah,s Album "Very Easy Very Umble" in 1970. Many months later listened the Name 'Ken Hensley' guitar in URIAH HEEP, who created perfect songs together in the World Of Hard Rock Music. Another success story of Uriah were Alex Napier drums and Paul Newton bass, who replaced the sound of Old Age of Blues, Rock N Roll & Rockabilly with the spectacular smells of Hard, Progressive Rock & Heavy Metal Music.
~ Overall "URIAH HEEP" not only stood out at that time for their talents, but also we must be know that the experimental music can grow up with rapid rythms!!!

In 1973, I moved to Reno, Nevada and the local radio stations played Uriah Heep. I got into Heep then. In 1974 I moved back to Sacramento and they played very little Heep. When buying CDs I made sure to buy some Heep.

"July morning" started a kind of hippie tradition in Bulgaria in the late 70s / early 80s to travel to the Black Seaside on 30 June to spend the sunrise of 1 July at the sea. It's still alive and going on ...:) John Lawton used to play with BG band BTR at Kamen Bryag for years on July 1st meeting the sunrise there.

Heep was unfairly underrated! Now in retrospect they should be at top of the list of 1970's hard rock groups. Catchy great songs, superb instrumentalists, and a lead vocalist with a stunning voice. Deep Purple and Rainbow etc had maybe more fans, but for me Heep beats them all.

We use the term underrated a lot. I disagree, as they weren't (and others) underrated by those who mattered- their fans. Not being rude, just always question the word. Cheers from Sydney. I saw them there in the mid 70s and they were a great outfit.

Look at Yourself was the first album I ever bought with my own money. What a great album! So heavy! My older sister had Demons and Wizards, the Magician's Birthday and I had listened to those which got me hooked on Heep. Great band and I don't feel they ever got the recognition they deserved.

My preferred lineup was with Hensley, Byron, Box, Thain, Kerslake. John Lawton (Lucifer's Friend), Pete Goalby were adequate, but Byron had that Heep sound. Bernie Shaw was a very nice surprise. Nice set of pipes. Mick Box sole original member.

Early Uriah Heep are amazing! So unique and groundbreaking , always exploring. And one of the greatest rock singers in David Byron. What was back then just another everyday good band .. but now looking back i realize just how great they were. "Very Heavy, Very Humble'(1970), and 'Demons & Wizzards'(1972) are really good ,but all the first FOUR album are the ones to get, as they got a bad rap by ppl who only heard the later commercial albums.

Yeah, we're really starting to lose everybody now, aren't we? For me, this week it was Robby Steinhardt of Kansas as well. I remember saying to a friend of mine to really get ready as we enter the 2020's because everyone is going to start dropping like flies this decade. Believe it or not, all of these musicians from that age are now well into their 70's going into their 80's now. You just don't want to lose them. It's sad to watch.

'Magician's Birthday' is easily the best song to me & 'Sweet Loraine' with 'Tales' as an introduction to The Magicians Birthday are unmissable. Gypsy + 'Darkness' are all fantastic as well. The Magician's Birthday is my favourite album by Heep & one of my favourite albums of all time. The Magicians Birthday is by far the best song. Good to see Gypsy & Sunrise got places. Tales should be on the list & The Magician is easily No1 imo thx for the video 1

My first day moving into the dorm as a freshman, walking down to our room in Johnstone Hall in 1973: Every door was open with stereos blaring. Sweet Lorraine was coming out of at least half those rooms. I’m a little offended she’s not on this list.
