I hate that nobody ever remembers how devastating Lexi and Jenna's death were... Lexi was one of the first on the show to bite it and Jenna's was a very major death.Iit still hurts me to this day to think about either one. I know Lexi was only in 1 episode, but her and Stefan's relationship really made her special and his reaction to her death is absolutely heartwrenching. And Jenna's hurt because she was such a nice character and one of Elena's only parental figures. Her death was especially heartbreaking because of Elena and Alaric's reactions which were sold amazingly by the actors. I hate that nobody ever talks about either one. And sure, Lexi has come back a couple of times because of Stefan's imagination or as a ghost-like figure, but that just makes her death even more devastating.I am glad Jenna at least got a spot on this list, but I think Lexi should've been more than just an honorable mention. Sorry for rambling, I know, I am kidding of annoying.

I know nobody cares but WHAT ABOUT JOE. Hers was so sad because Alaric had lost so many people he loved and when joe died it wasn't just her, she was pregnant. Even though the twins survive, it was lead on to believe that Joe and the twins both died.

I’m so happy that you guys actually acknowledged how heartbreaking Alaric’s death really was. I knew Elena wasn’t dead because I knew eventually somehow she became a vampire so when she died there were no tears for her they were alllll for Ric. I cried my heart out for him the whole entire day and the next I was so sad😂 in my opinion, his death was the saddest in the whole show. But Enzo made me sob so much and so did Stefan but I loved Enzo more then Stefan so it was a lot worse for him but not nearly as bad as Ric’s death.

Elena's the main character that's why she got number one. But in reality it should not have been number 1. It was not emotional enough, did not impact the characters and we knew she was turning into a vampire 5 minutes later. The death moved the show into a new direction- where ratings fell, people lost interest and Elena changed for the worse

KOriginal Addict Katherine's death was a real disservice to her character. She was a fan favourite and for her to go out the way she did with no explanation of it on the show made little to no sense. It's kinda saying don't bother trying to survive you're going to be dragged to hell anyway. Katherine was a character that you could root for her and it was cold the way the show dropped her as if she was not an important character in the story.
