"Øv" is an exclamation commonly used when something crappy happens to get in the way of your plans, among other things. Go to the supermarket to grab some stuff, but the one snack you wanted most is sold out? Øv. Your train got delayed 10 minutes due to a signal error? Øv. You flopped a test you thought you'd pass? Øv, øv, mega øv. Saying "Øv, øv, øv" is basically just the dev expressing his frustrations, while lamenting it's a bummer he had to change something he was probably proud of or found funny. Imagine someone saying it, while stomping in the ground angrily and clenching his fists. (Side-note: Danish has a lot of short words, which share a spelling/pronounciation, but mean wildly different things depending on context. "Øv' dig!" and "Øv, du" are two very different sentences.)

So... on Hitman 2... The moral of the story was "be careful what you wish for." Something like that, it's been so long I can't remember if that was for 2 or Contracts. The biggest mystery of Metal Gear Solid 3 to me is still that we don't know who Suzetta Miñet is... For those who don't know, that's the name given to the actress who voiced Eva in the game, however it's well known that that is not a real name and is a pseudonym. She has seemingly never been identified and the voice directors of MGS3 to this day have kept this a dead serious secret saying it was a personal choice by the actress. This is straight up the Streisand effect.

12:32 The MGS 3 ladder part is great because if your a Metal Gear fan then you really like the story so during the ladder part it forces the player to reflect and think of past events. Nothing more horrifying then being stuck alone with your own thoughts to spiral in all directions. Its the 1st time in the game that Snake can catch a breather. Its also the quite before the storm. Its genius. Instead of having a boring loading screen into Groznyi Grad you have a slow artistic build up into the end game to come. Everything you’ve done and gone through. Its so surreal its like a never ending dream. A dream you cant wake from that eats at you slowly like a snake eating a big meal. Slowly digested until you’ve served your purpose as a meal. Remember MGS3 ending? Snake was being used the whole game, he was slowly being digested by the powers that be, feeding their belly’s full until snake is no longer needed. Snake was betrayed, something even the worse animal knows nothing of. This hurt birthed the Snake we never saw in MGSV but would go on to be the Big Boss of the NES games. A broken man, betrayed and a shadow of a man he once was. All the Animal references in Metal Gear, but even animals aren’t as vicious and conniving as the worse animal of all, mankind.

Just for clarification, at 2:50: "Øv" In danish is more of an expression than a word, but essentially means "bummer", we repeat it to emphasize how badly we feel about it. @Tukaro Жыл бұрын
Esp with that translation in combination with the English, the dev/artist was probably super-pissed about the legal department forcing them to remove an asset they were super-proud of and/oor took a long time to make. This "mystery" was thus them letting off steam (and in a way that wouldn't get them fired like that developer whose Gex level was cut.) Considering the nature of Hitman, I would expect the asset was incredibly gruesome or could easily have gotten them sued for copyright infringement (or both.)

Love the Hitman easter egg, it was interesting to see one originating from my country. I can help you out with the translation of "Øv øv øv". "Øv" can mean 2 things. 1. Practice, an example could be "Øv dig i at skrive hurtigt" which would translate to "practice typing fast" 2. Discomfort, "øv" is used as a sort of slang / short way of expressing feelings like annoyance and sadness. The closest slang in english would be "damn". An example in this case could be "Øv, jeg har lige tabt spillet!" which translates to "Damn, I just lost the game!" Considering the context of the easter egg, it is likely the second translation that is relevant in this case. Hope this helps!

When you character dies, you are eaten by a land shark thing that comes through the floor and looks reasonably similar to this one. Considering the fact that Tongue of the Fatman/Slaughter Sport/Mondu's Fight Palace is considered to be one of the primary inspirations for the "violent fighting games craze" (alongside Pit Fighter) of the early 90s (since it came out in 1989)...in the sense that people thought it was bad but the idea was fun at the time.

That MK D level is such a shocker, could be great if it was included. Also love how Snake had to T Pose to be able to fly like a God.

Odd for what it's worth I think you're one of 3 youtubers I watch that I never skip the intro to. Really appreciate you keeping the general intros interesting but very much to the point.

I think the Katacombs in Deception kind of got an official rendition in Armageddon with the Frozen Katacombs, you fight Frost there during Konquest in the Lin Kuei Palace. Deception supposedly featured concept art for Lin Kuei themed catacombs, so maybe the version found in Deception's code was a cut prototype of the stage before they added a finished variation in Armageddon

Dude, the ladder climbing in MGS3 is supposed to be long. It's like a moment of clarity and peace during Snake's mission, and Eva sings to comfort him. Sure, it's not fun but there's meaning to that moment.

@armas because other artforms don't really have that in the first place where as video games are still you know games like shit if there was an art piece that only allowed access if you climbed mount everest with poison ivy on you shit would be annoying too

@armas yeah and movies also get the rewatch critique some movies are good even if you've seen it 20 times, some movies are only good the first time and after some reveal or moment make it unbearable to watch after, or make no sense and kill enjoyment forward.

As far as the halo co-op goes, I think it should be obvious that the answer to 'why would they remove this???' is 'because they could try to sell it as DLC later'

Dane here. in the hitman easter egg the "øv øv øv" dosent directly translate to english, but would be something like damn damn damn.
@TheGb2132 Жыл бұрын
2:50 Dane here. The word "øv" is just used to express displeasure over something. It's also quite common to use it multiple times in a row if you want to strongly emphasize it.

Almost everytime I go up a ladder in a game that lasts more than a few rungs my immediate first thought is MGS3. Not even remotely joking when I say I believe its one of the most iconic moments in a video game lol

This was hilarious. I'm always glad to see the return of this series. That MGS3 ladder climb reminds me of the speedrun skip in Mirror's Edge Catalyst, where you basically climb a pole a few inches, quick turn onto a swinging bar that happens to be positioned right behind it, then quickturn to face the pole again, then jump back onto the pole. One you're facing the pole again, you mash the up action to jump onto the pole. If you do it right, your left hand will be positioned slightly offset to the left from the pole. So you're climbing as if the hitbox is positioned slightly to the left. It's really easy to do though. I think the game gets confused because you switched from two different types of poles after quickturning really fast in a way that it didn't expect to happen. So the pole's hitbox goes on forever. Conveniently, it's right under the platform for the final custscene, in the otherwise very long last section of the last level. The climbing takes like 3 minutes though. There's like one other place in the game where a pole and bar meet in the same way to do the glitch. It's in The View by the giant billboard hack.

Oddheader is one of the greatest KZbinrs I have ever watched. Consistent videos, great information on the game he’s talking about and a good breakdown on the Easter egg or secret he’s talking about while also providing good commentary and comedy in every video. I’ve seen every single video dozens of times. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

Your bit on the Hitman 2 discovery got me thinking of something that happened to me in a game when I was a kid. I've always wondered if it was a memory or just a dream. Roughly twenty years ago, I was playing Super Mario Land 2. I loaded into one of the Mario Zone levels, only to find myself in a big empty square room. The walls, floor, and cieling were all made of unbreakable blocks, and with nothing else in the room, I was forced to just wait until time ran out. Being a smart-but-dumb kid, I thought maybe I had discovered a cool secret level with cryptic means of progression, but I never found anything in the level to suggest this. I was never able to recreate this incident, and since then, I passed it off as a glitch. I eventually looked it up, but found absolutely nothing on the incident or what could have caused it, and that's what got me wondering if it had even happened at all. On a goofier note, I was once playing Quest for Camelot for GameBoy when something I did (I honestly don't know what) turned all the enemies into wandering blocks of ever-changing text and symbols. I am much more certain this was a glitch, because it's more of a glitch stereotype than the empty room, but it was fascinating nonetheless and it'd be cool to see someone recreate it.
