Of course the weirdest interruptions happened at the US Open. In 1981, a fight in the stands made evert and Navratilova pause their match while the police came and arrested people. In 1979, Nastase and McEnroe's match became notorious when Nastase was disqualified, then reinstated because the referee thought the crowd might riot, and the umpire was replaced.
