People saying Bartman need to lay off. He had his life ruined enough from that, no need to push the bill any further.
@Jase-thebaseballking6 күн бұрын
i get that but i still feel like he should be on this list probably because that caused the worst outcome

Fuck the people who still think Bartman is to blame. There were a dozen hands reaching for that ball, he just happened to be one of the few that could actually get to it.

Who is Bartman?
@albertchatigny2223Күн бұрын
@@MarkkyBoyy Steve Bartman is most well known for interfering with a foul ball in a very important baseball game 20 years ago. The Cubs were still mired in a since-broken drought of several decades with no championships, one of the longest in pro sports. The Cubs were a few outs away from a World Series appearance when their opponent hit a foul ball to the edge of the stands that, in my opinion, the left fielder was probably going to catch. However, the seats in that section being elevated meant the ball was within reach of the fans before the left fielder. Several people reached for the ball to catch for a souvenir, including Bartman. Bartman made contact with the ball, and since the contact was made outside the field of play the call on the field was a foul ball. The left fielder was visibly angry and threw a small tantrum on the field, which probably didn’t help what happened next. The Cubs subsequently went into full-on meltdown mode, giving up several runs. A 3-run lead that was very likely to hold up otherwise became a 5-run deficit in a matter of minutes. The Cubs were almost surely on their way to a World Series appearance, then they lost the game and had to try again the next night. They lost that game, too, and a significant amount of the blame was, in my opinion, unfairly placed on Bartman’s shoulders. I don’t know what came of him, but he was an infamous figure in sports for a long time after that. I’m sure he was one of the most hated people in and around Chicago for at least a few years. The Cubs went on to win their first World Series in over 100 years in 2016, so the sentiment has likely softened, but for a not-so-short period of time starting in October 2003, Steve Bartman was one of the most infamous figures in sports for a single reach for a foul ball (that several people around him were also reaching for).

What's the point of the game if the players are interfered with in playing their own game. Unlike the fans, they put their entire lives into the game. Yeah sad!

@@joek3805 No kidding. He didn't even have to jump to make the catch. Not as bad as the Joe Mauer double that was ruled foul but still really bad. Yankees always get the call. To their credit they then take advantage of it but still.
