"This is a list of the best songs of the 60's decade (1960 to 1969)". It is good that you clarify it because although they are very representative of the 60's, in reality they are not ordered by their size of success. And if they are the best, I think one that definitely deserves recognition is "Eloise" by Barry Ryan, an excellent song from the 60's that is very underrated.

Sugar, Sugar -Archies Venus - Shocking Blue (recorded Dec '69) Spirit In the Sky - Norman Greenbaum (recorded Late '69) Everlasting Love - Love Affair In The Ghetto - Elvis Georgy Girl - Seekers The Real Thing - Russell Morris (Australian) Gimme Some Lovin' - Spencer Davis Group Tears Of A Clown - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles These boots are made for walking - Nancy Sinatra Plus umpteen other tracks. Silvio, all the Beach Boys biggest hits were in the 1960s, the first being in 1962. Speaking of which, no I Get Around, Help Me Rhonda or In My Room! Hard to quibble with most of these songs, but the order is another thing altogether. Nice to listen to, though.

Good list, though everyone will have a different order. "Please Please Me" is the song that introduced The Beatles to the world, and it perfectly captures the raw energy and the simple joy of making music that marks the group's early works. It deserves to be much higher than 96. I was happy to see "A Change Is Gonna Come" ranked so highly. It's a beautiful song with an important place in history. I realize it's a highly subjective list, but no "Rock and Roll" by the Velvet Underground? That's unforgivable. And no Hollies at all? Hmmm. I would have included "Poor Side of Town" by Johnny Rivers, one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded, but that's just me. Could have snuck it in instead of the fifth Jimi Hendrix song.
