anakso the Face MV surprised me. I think it got that amount of views because in 2012 kpop had a huge boom on the internet and NUEST debuted with Face that year, maybe that worked out in their favor; the song was quite catchy aswell. Id give it the award of most viewed kpop video for a rookie group from a non-big three company.

Back when there were a variety of songs. Back when views determined how good songs were. Back when there was no such thing as the "best" group/solo. Back when the charts weren't dominated by a single artist. Back when 2nd gen groups were loved by everyone. And now we have a chart being dominated by groups such as BTS and BLACKPINK who need no effort in making into the list. Compared to a legendary group such as Super Junior being almost knocked out of the list and gaining only 15 million views on their last comeback. I miss the old kpop days. Bring it back

I can't wait for the day where Got7 makes it on the list. I can understand why all of these have reached these ratings. When people first get into K-pop it's usually through one of 'The Big Four' (SHINee, Super Junior, Girls Generation and/or EXO). Regarding the first three, they were made early on so the fandom is quite large. After the big SM 4 you start trickling down to Big Bang and Sistar. From there on in it's usually what is recommended to them or what company they start searching. Would definitely love to see more JYP in the future ^w^

Aryutsuki Orihara I think most of the time, if a person starts getting into Kpop in the year 2015, it would be through SNSD, 2NE1, Big Bang, Super Junior and/or EXO, with few exceptions which is why I say "most" of the time. Don't get me wrong, I love all these groups to death. I don't have a favorite Kpop group because I love all groups, whether they're a rookie or a veteran I just love Kpop. But just speaking through reality and view counts, I don't think SHINee would be in the 'The Big Four' list anymore just because their view counts declined within the past 2 years (It should stay consistent) and Big Bang and 2NE1 are also huge internationally so you should also count them in, so with Sistar, yes a person would start trickling down to them but I doubt with Big Bang. SHINee is still widely popular but I'm just saying by chance I don't believe they should be apart of that list. Trust me, it would be way more likely (not definite) but likely that a non-Kpop fan would view Big Bang's Fantastic Baby first, then SHINee's Lucifer or Ring Ding Dong. Sorry if I may come off as being bias, I am not--I love all groups equally :) But I was just stating reality for ya~ that's all. And I can't wait for the day Got7 makes it on this list also. animetwilight75 The reason why I put in SHINee, justly so, is because most people don't get into K-pop by themselves (as in accidentally coming across it, unless you're an anime fan or a gamer then coming across K-pop accidentally is much more probable). SHINee was formed somewhere around the big Hallyu Wave, I think that's the name of it, and that assisted them in garnering a lot of fans. The majority of k-pop fans are SHINee fans and those K-pop fans usually introduce their non-K-pop friends into K-pop by either using SHINee, Super Junior, or SNSD. That's why I put in SHINee. Most people wouldn't recommend 2NE1, Big Bang, or EXO. The reason why 2NE1 and Big Bang wouldn't be recommended off the bat is because their music doesn't easily appeal to the majority (unless the friend is into rap and 'real' hip-hop). Sure one or two of their songs will catch their attention (2NE1's I Am the Best or Big Bang's Fantastic Baby for example) but if the said friend isn't into their type of music then they will quickly lose interest and believe that all k-pop might be like that. Now EXO? EXO has diversity and uniqueness on their side but having 11 members might be too much on a newbie. I remember coming across SNSD's Gee, didn't know how many there were, and fell in love with the light airy feel to it... then I checked out the dance version and was astounded by how many members there were. Super Junior came next and while I did enjoy Bonamana, I didn't like how there were so many members, again. Third was SHINee's Ring Ding Dong. Not only was it catchy but having only five members made it much easier to get to know them. I believe many newcomers may feel the same way. You may be getting a bit confused. There's a difference between the first k-pop video someone may come across and the k-pop video that made someone into a k-pop fan. For example, SNSD's Gee was my first k-pop video but I didn't become a fan of k-pop until I came across INFINITE. Same goes for video counts. A video's count doesn't represent how many newcomers have preferred that video to another or whatnot. It mainly represents the fandom, with a few others. Like, EXO has gotten some views from me but I'm no fan of EXO. I don't like them but I don't dislike them. I don't like all groups, but like with EXO, it doesn't mean I dislike them. Well, maybe a few members of Super Junior I do dislike but other than that I'm pretty neutral to the majority of K-pop groups. I think I only have four or five groups that I actually like.

Whenever I show a non-Kpop fan Kpop I will first show them an actual K(pop) song because an average American biggest genre would be pop music. If they don't like it, then I will show them something that would fit their genre whether it is rock, cutesy, sexy, or "light airy" like SNSD, and many other types/styles of music, which is why most likely a person would turn to those groups first before SHINee but only when it comes to just pop music that is similar to western music in a way. But yeah, this only applies to if a person stumbles upon Kpop on their own, and only applies to my methiods of appealing Kpop to others. I was not thinking about it in a way of if a person were to show another person Kpop. My point was only towards if a person on the internet were to find Kpop themselves. I was unaware that you meant it that way, now what you have said before really does make sense. But btw, I wouldn't classify 2NE1/Big Bang, etc as 'real hip-hop' if a person were to show a non-Kpopper something that is rather close to that, then they would look to BAP, old BTS/Block B and old Big Bang or just some underground Korean rappers. Those groups doesn't even represent 'real' hip-hop at all lol. Also, the Hallyu Wave didn't actually take full effect until the year 2011. It has always been there, mostly residing in Asian countries, but in a way that it took a boom! and many, many more people know about KPop now. And thanks to Psy, now the term "Kpop" would be more internatonally known, but Kpop still has a long way to go before it starts to play on the radio or in malls and such like how Jamaican reggae tends to play on the radio from time to time in the U.S and Jamaica isn't even apart of the U.S. Hallyu Wave was in big effect starting 2011, and SHINee was formed in '08. Like I said, I've been a Kpop fan since 2006. I followed K-dramas, Korean news and everything since then. Basically, I've been a Korean fan for that long. I've been through it all since then so I've seen the changes in Kpop , and what year the difference in popularity rose and whatnot. But now that I know you meant it in a way of people finding Kpop through veteran Kpoppers then I suppose you are correct in every way. But I meant what I said from a different point haha, so yes I was confused only because I wasn't aware of your perspective. And by me loving all Kpop groups equally because I just love Kpop in general, I meant it in way that I am not biased towards any group (some netizens will assume that, I was just mentioning that for the sake of my comment) and that I do like all groups due to my respect, but I don't have a favorite group, or a group that I just generally like. I'll say, "They're cool" or something along those lines but I won't actually dislike a group. I've been a fan for almost 10 years, so I usually will just pay more close attention the music and visual artistry of MV's. There are so many groups now I'd rather not waste time picking a favorite group and just stay neutral with that solely.

animetwilight75 2NE1 and Big Bang just give me a 'hip-hop' feel. The others give me more of a rap feel. They don't represent American hip-hop but they represent their own sort of hip-hop and comes off naturally enough for me to consider it as hip-hop. The Hallyu Wave became big in 2011 but you have to think about online communities. K-pop was well-known online among many, as long as your hobbies ventured from the so-called 'norm'. I understood before that you were stating that you were unbiased.

It took me by surprise seeing almost all the music videos of Hyuna as a solo reaching the top (even though I know she got fame internationally after GS) even Troublemaker's. Also Girls' Generation, 2NE1 & BIG BANG slaying as always. Shall I include EXO, too? Amazing vid! I guess it took a lot of work/time to put all these music videos together! Amazing job!

3 years later:In the bottom half [through Falling in Love], only 4 survived. (G-Dragon: Who You?/Bigbang: Loser/Exo: Call Me Baby/Taeyang: Ringa Linga) In the top half, 35 survived. Of the top 31, 29 survived (the exception was Psy's "Hangover" w/ Snoop Dogg). The top 3 remained the same, as was somewhat predictable. Besides the top 3, the smallest drops were: G-Dragon - Who You? [1], G-Dragon & Taeyang - Good Boy [2], and Bigbang - Fantastic Baby [2] (the next-smallest drops were also by Taeyang [10] and G-Dragon [12]). Only 2 songs rose in position over the 3 years, and both were newer than most of the other songs on the chart: Bigbang: "Loser" and Exo: "Call Me Baby."
