Probably because he’s a main vocal. One thing I know about SM pattern in position is they (almost) never give main vocal a main dancer position even how good the main vocal dancing ability is because they don’t want them to lack in one of the positions. Imagine needing to dance hard as fuck and at the same time to give a heavenly vocal/high notes - the idol would die. This is the same as f(x) where Luna is a main dancer worthy but she’s a main vcoal so she’s only a lead dancer. Same as EXO’s DO is lead dancer worthy but he’s a vocal god so SM don’t wanna jeopardise that.
