Lata mangeshkar with shankar jaikikishan was always a treat to ear and offcourse a guaranteed combination of bollywood success formula for sure and and privef a force multiplier time and again .jointly they were the deadly combination and a unified force to reckon with. lataji was undisputed numero uno as far as female singing is concerned from the day one but does it apply on shankar jaikishan also. Let us rewind and discuss the locus if shankar jaikishan in bollywood since their inception because lata and Shankar Jaikishan started their almost in same era . Shankar jaikishan were miles ahead of their compitaters in their hey days and ruled the roost for more than two decades . no one was near to them in term quality of music and rate of success, shankar jaikishan music was equally liked by massses and classes. wo daur hi aisa tha jab 1949 me ek chamatkar jaisa hua aur shankar jaikishan ki entry hue Bollywood music industry me and engaged lata mangeshkar as their main female singer . Shankar jaikishan ki barsat me kissi ka bhi thehrana jaise possible nahi tha. There after shankar jaikishan keep establishing their authority time and again that they are the now force to reckon with and their music stands fifty years ahead of their rest of the compitators, soon after barsat. Shankar jaikishan were writting the new rule of orchestra and composition, for remaining MD have left with two options, either follow them or perished. The monotonous and orthodox style of classical music all of sudden becomes old fashioned and new India was prepared to embrace the refreshing and breezy new sensation named shankar jaikishan with open arms. The socialism, shailendra, rajkaapur with shankar jaikishan composition were not only complimenting each other but become guarantee for success of any film . This team rajkaapur was not became very popular in newly independent India but the war torn world as well particularly in Russia lead communist block countries starting from China, cheezchaslwakia, Romania, China, Bulgaria, polland and last but not least the USSR. Every where you can listen 'awara hu' or mera joota he Japani'. And and this grand magical streak continues uptill the untimely and sad demise of jaikishan. I can safely infer my writing by saying that 'bade gaur se sun raha tha zamaana tumhi so gaye meharvaan kahte kahte'but shankar jaikishan and their creation will be remembered by one and all forever. Shankar Jaikishan duet one side and rest of the music directors on the other side just like Lataji is one side and other all singers on the other side, such is the versatile music composition of great Shankar Jaikishan. Generally music composers always obsessed with one or two singers just like Naushad Sab for Rafi Sab, R D Burman for Kishore da, O P Nair for Ashaji but Shankar Jaikishan duet is not limited to one or two singers. That is their greatness. Real pillars of Bollywood music industry.

Legendary Shankar Jaikishsn GAVE musics in hundreds of Bombay's film.All were super hit. Joy Mukherji and.Bishwsjeet Chatterji became popular hero during 1960 due to musics,which was given by SJ. My hero was late Jaikishan.He was very handsome and highly talented. But regret to tell that excess drinking took life of this legendary Jaikishan. tragic end was shocking in those days. In Nasreen Munni Kabir’s book, Lata Mangeshkar In Her Own Voice, published by Niyogi Publishers, after the Filmfare awards started recognising playback singers and their contribution to film song, Masreen Munni Kabir says that though the Filmfare awards were first introduced in 1954,initially the Best Music award was given to a particular song, not to the whole album - In 1954, Naushad Ali won the award for Tu Ganga Ki Mauj Main sung by Mohammed Rafi in Baiju Bawra. In 1955, S D Burman won it for Jayen To Jayen Kahan. It was sung by Talat Mahmood in Taxi Driver.From 1956, the Best Music award was given to the music director for the whole album. That year’s winner was Hemant Kumar for Nagin. Then Shankar-Jaikishan won the award in 1957. Lata’s argument with Jaikishan was somewhat connected to that event, according to Nasreen Munni Kabir. Shankar-Jaikishan was told by Filmfare that they would get the [1957] award for Best Music for Chori Chori. Jaikishan went to see Lata and said: ‘We’re getting the award so you must sing Rasik Balma at the awards ceremony.’ Lata said: ‘I won’t sing, because you are getting the award, not me. The award is for Best Music. They aren’t giving the award to the singer or lyricist. So why don’t you let your orchestra play the tune without words and singers?’We had a big fight and he said: ‘How can you talk to me like this? I’m going.’ Lata told him ‘Very well. Go!’ Then Shankarji came and said: ‘Lataji, he’s naïve and young. Don’t be upset by what he says.’ I explained to Shankarji why I had refused.’I won’t sing unless Filmfare introduces awards for playback singers and songwriters. Then I’ll come. Otherwise I won’t.’ Filmfare finally introduced additional awards for Best Singer and Best Lyricist in 1959. The first recipient was Shailendra for the lovely Yahudi song Ye Mera Diwaanapan Hai sung by Mukesh, and Lata won the Best Playback Singer award for Aaja Re Pardesi (Madhumati, 1958). Surprisingly, it was only in 1967 that Filmfare introduced separate awards for female and male playback singers.
