I still have my Korg Wavestation EX with extra cards and still use it when I make music. I love it and will never let go of it ❤

For vocals I use a TC Helicon VoiceTone Create XT. I love it so much, I bought a second one. 👍(edit -- I was once a Hobart Technician too! 😏)

A Hobart technician, that's crazy. Doing that dishwashing job shortened my life.

I must agree regarding the Fireface UFX. I bought one new around a decade ago and it is one of the best purchases I made for my studio. I have been so happy with it that I bought a second one. I initially planned to use that in a portable rig but it ended up in my studio linked to the first one via ADAT. The second one is connected to a second computer running all my speaker processing (several instances of Sonarworls Reference 4 Studio). I'm running 14 channels of Yamaha amplification into a 3D ambisonic monitoring setup. The UFX units have been absolutely rock solid and the drivers are second to none. I'm a big fan of Totalmix FX and Digicheck too.

Indeed, I just wish there was an easy way to use multiple RME UFX interfaces with Totalmix on one PC. ASIO4ALL is an option, but I don't think it allows the use of Totalmix. The only other option is the UFX with MADI and expensive breakout boxes. Another 64 channels with ADAT would be fine, and the breakouts are less expensive.

I’m keeping my DSI Tempest, most likely forever…don’t use it regularly, but when I do, I always have a great time with it. Love the synth engine on it and how it mixes with the digital osc’s. My Roland W-30 would also be hard to let go of, again not using it so much, but some of the sample libraries are awfully good. I have a lot more gear, got rid of my Korg wavestate, never thought I would, but I haven’t missed it either.

For me, it's my dual Korg OASYS 88s (YES! I actually have 2 of them!), Triton Extreme 88 and my Trinity Pro X and V3 pro X. The amount of original sounds, Combis and sequences I have made on these is so great I'll never let these go!

Here are my own 11 (at random): Fender Stratocaster I acquired in August 1995; It’s my first electric guitar, and I couldn’t sell it even if I wanted to. Custom 2000 Carvin fretless bass; it was built for a friend of mine who sold it to me 20 years later. Alesis QS6; I no longer play it, but it’s my first synthesizer; needs repairs on the layering section and MIDI outs due to sawdust. Minimoog Voyager Electric Blue; it’s dust-logged and malfunctioning (I procrastinate at getting it repaired), but I associate it (and the QS6) with my grandfather (along with the passing of Dr. Robert Moog 2 months after purchasing the Voyager). Roland JX-8p; it was my mentor’s synthesizer before t returned to his own protege (the original owner) who sold it to me; needs repairs like the 2 synths above. Yamaha SA-2000 thinkine from 1980; it’s my birth year guitar. Gianini classical guitar; gifted to me when I was nineteen by the same friend who sold me the fretless Carvin bass. C flute; a gift from my father. Wurlitzer accordion; I swapped one of my saxophones to another musician for this; I need to play it more. Parts-caster from 2019; I again couldn’t sell it even if I wanted to; there’s no market (that I can find) for a Frankenstein guitar built with Brian May-inspired electronics; and it was the electric guitar I was playing when I lost my father; I call it “Roebling” from having first used it to track my *Brooklyn Bridge* album. Dixon mandolin; it’s a memento of my 3 years in Indianapolis; I don’t play it anymore, but it’s sentimental to me. The rest of the equipment I’ve got, other electric and acoustic guitars, both digital and analog synthesizers, Theremin, amplifiers/P. A., electronic drum kits, percussion and other brass/woodwind instruments, they are all negotiable, even if I would prefer not to have to let them go.

This was once again a very nice video. Huh, your then-girlfriend at the time apparently apoeared like a tornado, but I'm assuming you still might've handled the situation like a gentleman. Basically I could sell none, unless it's broken & if there's no one within reach to fix it (decently). Unfortunately, there is no Mike Rosen in Austria. Ergo, the first OB-8 ended up as a collateral for a JP-6 repair, the second and third one (both defect) were sold together last year for exactly the amount GS2 was. If the previous owner hadn't had gotten interferences with his pacemake I'd never had the opportunity, as there's about the same low production number of around 100 units like GS1. Since I sell nothing unless it's broken, I'll just name what I could get rid the very least: Of course GS2, CE25 (Preset 6 sounds so warm and fat & the mixable analogue Ens effect is not a bit worse than GS2's). Yamaha AN1x, whose basic sound to me was disastrous the first time turning it on in the late 90s. Before that I only had (still have) the (allegedly) rare AKAI VX600, Matrix-6r and Kawai K1 II. AN1x only started getting audio quality when the latest OB-8 began to die. Reprogramming my fave OB-8 sounds turned out to be almost hopeless (not just) because of OB8's sophisticated Page 2 functionality and the hyperbright sound... With exhausting effort, at least the modulations and fattness got captured. Afterwards the sounds got expanded due to Morph, FM and the FX section. It was crazy to hear already complex OB8 sounds thru another level. In any case, it was possible to deceive the previous owner with the reprogrammings. Certainly the forementioned KORG DS8 lasts hopefully forever. With that I get where I want to even faster than with a Nordlead 3, even though the latter of course doesn't just only do 4 OP FM, but also Filter - FM, ring mod & all sorts of things, even w. dual filters, morph and of course sounds anything else but vintage digital . Anyway it's still an ab. fave. I ❤️ the microwave XT w. 30 voice exp, but it has some flaws like a little too slow envs & "unclean" processing of high LFO rates almost like Z1. Yamaha V50, not only looks beautiful, but in addition to deeper editing has also a quick edit mode and a very cool feature that allows patches to rotate. A maximum of every second note played has a different patch. I think Yamaha DX200 is the perhaps most exciting groove box I know. Of course, DX5 and DX7II E FD and their relatives don't leave my house either, even if the E-board (without protecting clear vanish) went knowingly sort of disfunctional, KORG Z1, of which I have two (one with Voice Expansion), sounds more or less ok but of course no way close to a Kronos, but in terms of programming, it still is too spectacular to give it up & the UI is set greatly. Some few know the monumental Yamaha HX1, but exactly that's what it was for 1987 what the famous GX1 was in the early 70s. Similar to GS series, Yamaha did anything possible to create a top FM model inexistant before. With a pedal keyboard with Velocity and even aftertouch, up to 16 operators per sound, prophessional drum sounds (at least appropriate to the time) a design that even seems futuristic today and an FX section that would even delight audiophiles (except the reverb). The digital celeste effect is in no way inferior to a Juno chorus, is noise-free & the newly created Symphonic effects 1 & 2 only have the name in common with its derivatives from SY99, AN1X or various FX units and DMP mixers, I compared: No matter how hard tried, on the SY99 it just didn't work to even come close emulating HX1's symphonic effect. That's apparently a different algorithm. The HX Symphonic is obviously an updated digital version of their analog ensemble effects and that's like it sounds .It beats neither slower nor less broadly and basically sounds just as good. Due to its futuristic appearance, HX1 was (supposedly) future furniture in the movie Running Man w. Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2010, I paid well over €2,000 for the instr and some accessories BUT've now seen some in Austria for unbelievable €800.- Monumental organ-synths seem to be out, no matter if the best hardware and software has been used and especially Yamaha has really let off steam with those. For example, HS series (HS 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) has an internally fully programmable TX81Z.. HX1 can only be edited externally (from up a certain Eprom vers.). At the beginning of this year I was tempted to grab an HS, but ultimately dropped it due to lack of space. As mentioned, I was amazed at how few these beautiful monstrosities are offered for, as apparently no one wants them. I recently saw an HS-6 at an €100 offer from Vienna. I only understand it peripheric. In terms of sound, an HS6 is far superior to a pure TX81Z module. In addition, multi-manual playing is a nice brain jogging, especially with pedal KB involved. Most of the time, videos don't do these monstrosities justice, as they were primarily accessed by solo entertainers, what unfortunately can be clearly heard. I've become a fan of those organs and may get another HX-1 & HS 6, 7 or 8 at some point in this life, God willing. A totally own world of feel & sound. ...hope I didn't waste your time as well.

Great idea on 4 studio monitors! I always struggle with that having an L-shaped synth setup. My Alesis M1's are centered with my Quick-Lok stand, but when I reach over to play the 3 synths on my A-frame stand, speakers are to my right and Iose the stereo field. I never thought to just add a 3rd studio monitor.

Yep. It's more inspirational to have a stereo field. Thanks for the comment.

A surprising amount of overlap here! I prefer my modded JX-8p to the Juno, but it’s probably for sentimental reasons. I don’t imagine my Wavestation EX, DX7iiD, and XV will ever leave either. Some of my newer stuff could come and go, but I suspect a few others will survive the long march of time as well. Thanks!

I don't know much about the VL Touch, they certainly look similar in design. Perhaps someone else can help. I've read that the VL3 has essentially the same internals with some added features and improved chord detection....
