I've only recently started this, while subtle, it is very useful. Once I introduce an exercise through the What, Why and How approach I ask, "What questions do you have for me?" It sets an expectation for clarifying questions, so people tend to speak out if they don't understand, much more than asking "Does everyone get it?"

This is HUGELY helpful to an aspiring facilitator like myself and a great review for more experienced facilitators. I love the intentional use of language Dee implements - It always amazes me how changing up the WAY you ask/say/explain can make such a huge difference! Gold nuggets for days.

Great tips, the pre activity is a brilliant idea. I've been amazed at how many people struggle with Miro, getting them to use it first is a good idea.

Thanks! This was very well presented and they're certainly usefull tips :) A word of advice for the presenter though: If you're making a new gesture with close to every word you say, people on the screen might get a bit dizzy over time ;)

Hello Jonathan and team! I love your channel so much. I'm beginner in this field(UX/UI) and I want to ask one question Why you people don't upload anything related to UX stuff?? You people only upload about facilitator and similar stuff. I'd love to see more videos about UX/UI stuff. Thank you

Thanks, Divyansh! 😍 Trust us when we say facilitation skills are incredibly relevant to all UX and UI designers. Being able to design and run workshops will increase your value as a designer. 🤩

Maybe it is because I am not a native english speaker, but I dont see the difference between "what else" and "anything else" 🤨 Deepl translate it to me in german, but both would rather engage participants to talk😅
@olgaaissatou9828
@olgaaissatou9828 2 жыл бұрын
"what" is implying there should be other options/answers, the floor is open. "anything" is more vague, and most of us don't really want to "move" or act if we don't have to. For this reason, "anything else?" helps to move on quickly. If you are facilitating in German, just like with professional translating, the best is to find an equivalent phrase or a question with the same effect. Maybe culturally speaking more direct "should we discuss it more or should we move on?" or "are we ready to move on?" (as an alternative to "anything else"). What do you think?
@SkoxLy
@SkoxLy 2 жыл бұрын
@@olgaaissatou9828 yes thank you, I get the intention better now and the difference between "what" and "anything". Still I think using a whole phrase, which has more than two words (like your examples) has a bigger effect, even in english ^^

I liked the content but sorry the use of your hands was a bit too much for me. I get that it would work in a large room doing a workshop but it was a little too much on video. Had to leave early.

@Facilitator' is a BS profession, and 'expert facilitator' is a contradiction in terms. It is like being an expert in wearing warm clothes in winter.
