yes!! i also write how his sharpness is evident when he snaps at Fred and scares the children away at his door. Also behind his cold personality, fire can be made, which shows how he warms himself up to others and can redeem himself

Belle says that Scrooge 'fears the world too much' this might show the childhood trauma which shadows his nature, he is very insecure and afraid of people hurting him again. :( He might feel that money and wealth are inanimate objects which won't abandon him as everyone else did. This also links to the fact that in stave 2 scrooge thinks about 'what good had Christmas had ever done him?', this adds a sense of bitter sorrow and self-pity in Scrooge, which has later transformed into his resentment towards Christmas and the 'world of fools', as he has lost hope and trust in the meaning of Christmas as he was always so miserable and lonely due to the rest of the world 'neglecting' him as a child on Christmas... I know Scrooge acts like a nasty person, but I just feel so sad for him as well... its as if he was forced by the world to be like the way he was- which builds on the idea of ignorance causing 'Doom' in stave 3. The world's, the school children's and his father's ignorance of young Scrooge's internal suffering and loneliness caused a chain reaction, making adult Scrooge ignorant of the world's suffering himself... which Doomed the life of the other people such as Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit's family due to Scrooges unfeeling nature.

"No warmth could warm, no wintry weather chill him" in stave 1. Can link to the last stave. "Retuning to the window, he opened it, and put out his head. No fog, no mist; clear bright, jovial, stirring, cold; piping for the blood to dance to" Dickems mentioned how "External heat and cold had little influence on Scrooge" and yet through facing his past, the present, and his and other's future, he brang himself to alter his miserly, seemingly unchangeable self , and finally felt the cold that he once was. Dickens uses lots of contrast like this to highlight how no matter how miserly you are, even the worst of all people, can change and they just need someone to believe in them and for them to help them believe in themselves.

The last line is expressed so beautifully! you could further make a really interesting point by comparing the 3 women and the shop owner trading Scrooge's things in stave 5 to this. Scrooge ends up feeling disgusted instead of turning a blind eye to their attitude. Considering that he too had once only been 'an excellent man of business' on Marley's funeral, and not shed a single tear for his 'sole friend', and not thought of Marley even once for 7 years, could say a lot about how scrooge changed, and might imply the indirect self-reflection and self-criticism Scrooge might be dealing with. While being disgusted at others who behave very similarly to the way he once did, Scrooge might have been subconsciously disgusted at himself, further layering his redemption arc, etc. Sorry, the quotes might not be entirely accurate, haven't read the book for about 6 months since my exam! 😅

" Solitary as an oyster ." -He contains himself in himself and his own thoughts and has no-one to care for, could relate to his past trauma with neglect as a child
