When i was in the military myself and two guys from my ship went to anza barrego for Pinyon Canyon trail. The trail was neat, we finished it up around sunset. We then got lost for a good 3 hours in the trails trying to get back to a main road and had work the next day. It was probably midnight when we got off the trail and found a road and then had a few hour drive back to san diego. Id say the canyon trails are beautiful but we spent the entire time trying not to panic and it was dark so we didnt see much. Lesson learned, dont let that one guy navigate, and after we all downloaded Gaia maps for trail planning. PS theres no cell service out there so plan accordingly, and a stock rubicon can do the trail, however if you dont have a rubicon lockers are heavily recommended, lift was not required. My jeep was a willys and all i had was a front locker and winch. Made it through without any scratches and only had to stack rocks in one spot.

Thank you for this video. Beautiful scenic views I love it. But i am a bit sad that nobody has talked about my home state of West Virginia. They don't call us the Mountain State for nothing. Currently i do own a 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade. Now before i get any haters out there. Don't knock them till you try one. I took a bone stock 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport with street tire's across. King's Mountain plus The Canaan Loop. But right now my current Jeep needs a lot of work because of past owners neglect. Ya'll know what I'm talking about. Im a 60 year old Male Cancer and a Honorably Discharged Army Veteran. I live on disability. So my money is always in high demand but short supply. Sure would be nice to drive some trails with you folk's. I love the outdoors and seeing new place's. Years ago i used to be a long haul Truck driver. So i have seen many beautiful places in the United States. I truly hope i can travel and see my favorite places one more time before its to late. Wheel Safe Everybody.

As long as your on public land and are abiding by Tread Lightly principles you can explore without calling a Ranger. Before you venture out, read the Tread Light and Leave No Trace principles as well as any rules/regulations from the public lands you are visiting. BLM often has different rules than National Forests. Happy Exploring!

Nice collaboration and it's awesome you are donating proceeds to TreadLightly. I do have to say something and it might not be too kind but has to be said. NONE of those channels (correct me if I am wrong but I pretty sure I am not) used their reach (even with my constant prodding in the comments) to help the fight against the BLM, Dept, of Interior, when they were trying to shut down almost 500 miles of off-road trails around Moab, Utah. This would impact access to hundred of thousands of square miles. There are many famous Jeep trails here and in fact they are part of the annual Easter Jeep Safari. Regardless, NONE of these channels, and others, said a thing about it. Stewardship is about maintaining the trails, education, etc. but it is also about fighting and getting involved to keep them open at the local, state and federal level. The way I see it is that they are eager and willing to use all this public land for monetization but aren't too eager or willing to fight for it when it's needed. There is always an attack on the use of these lands to get them shut down so we have to be villigant even when it's not convenient. TreadLightly does a good job with this and so does Blue Ribbon Coalition (www.sharetrails.org/). They actually fight it in the courts. So there it is. Going forward I hope more people actually get involved.

This is a great comment! I can't speak for the rest of the channels, but I do know it's something we are constantly talking about and something that's important to everyone who goes offroad. The fact that everyone came together on this collab and that we're trying to raise money for a good cause I think speaks to their positive intent. I agree that we need to keep up awareness on these issues and do what we can to help preserve areas for future use. Thanks again for an insightful comment.

@@nickmcdvtt it most definitely will help. Thank you. A lot of people might think oh it's just a little bit of land. There's so much more of it so why complain about it. But the fact is that this is how they operate. They take a little at a time until you're left with nothing.

Please stop advertising places to overland…especially the ones that are more less traveled. These kinds of videos have lead to the issues with over crowding and the closing of amazing places due to overuse and lack of LNT ethics. Even though you are saying your proceeds are going to help keep places open, this video in and of itself does the exact opposite. Let people explore (go out with a map in hand) and actually help keep places scenic, remote, and wild by keeping your locations and adventures to yourselves, or simply don’t name locations if you must document every moment via film. I find your video adventures inspiring and fun, but you can still make said videos without telling people about the locations of the places you travel and keeping it general. Thanks! P:S- flyfisher530 did it right…named the national forest but not a specific place.
@Venture2Roam Жыл бұрын
This is a great comment, and one that I hope people read. My perspective on this is that people are going outside, and they are searching KZbin for places to go, and the more we can bring education and awareness around Tread Lightly and LNT, as they are searching for these places on KZbin, we'll be doing more good than if we just don't do anything at all. I agree that folks should have to work a little bit to find their adventure, which is why we're not sharing routes or GPS coordinates in this video (and in general). I don't agree that this video will contribute to places being closed, rather I think it will contribute to educating folks who are unaware of Tread Lightly and encourage responsible trail use (at the time of this comment, three days after publishing, we've raised $500 for TL). I'd love to hear what others think about this as well, as I don't think there is one right answer, rather I think there should be ongoing open conversations about it. Thanks again for bringing this up!
