My mattress when I was a kid was used, accent and covered in unknown fluid stains. I was convinced someone died in it. The mattress was almost 40 when we finally replaced it.

No no no no no what do you mean?? Aunt Donna and I would get along perfectly, I would be extremely flattered that such a beautiful creature reminded someone of me, back where my family’s from, eating beetles used to be common practice in some areas, and catching beetles was also a very popular activity. Unfortunately, the beetle population is dwindling and there’s not as many as there used to be. If I had received the gift I’d probably be spooked for the first 3 seconds and delighted for the rest, in fact, my own aunt once gave me a keychain made of resin with an encapsulated beetle inside!

I think I may have done the return for the girl who bought the Garmin GPS if it was in Leesburg, VA at a Best Buy ages ago. She looked pretty upset, and she said she'd saved up a lot to buy her boyfriend a GPS he needed for Christmas...but the relationship didn't work out and she didn't want to talk about it.

Worst gift I ever got? Oh the list is endless... but one stands out. My friend gave me a wrapped item... wrapped in newspaper!... and said "Here you go. It's a radio. But it may have a few bugs." I was bemused, but I thanked her and took my gift home and put it under the tree. BAD IDEA! It was her old clock radio, that I had seen often beside her bed... and it was FULL of cockroaches! And very soon, so was my house.

12:51 this reminded me of when i started going to therapy again, i struggle with multiple stress related health issues and i had recently returned to therapy, i was seeing a new therapist this time as my previous one wasn't helping me anymore. I'm a huge MCR fan, like, i don't just listen to them, i practically breathe them, i live them, and obviously i have an MCR t-shirt (a danger days t-shirt because it's my favorite album from them lol) and i wore it once when i was in therapy, she recognized the t-shirt i was wearing and said she used to be a fan when she was a teenager. So then in the next therapy session, she said she had something for me in her office, she had a little grin on her face. When we got there, she said she went to her parents' house to visit them and found something in her old teenage room that she thought i would have a better use. She gave me her old Three cheers for sweet revenge CD

The worst gift that someone in my family gave. (It was before I was born but have been told this story soooo many times) My uncle is a funny guy and likes to prank people. Well one year my uncle's cousin wanted a pair of earrings. So my uncle gathered some rabbit poop, made it to were it didn't smell, painted it gold and turned it into a earring. The cousin LOVED them until she found out what they were made out of.

Worst gift I ever got from my mum in my Christmas stocking became a joke with my friends: wooden, lavendar-scented mothballs for in the linen cupboard. For the past few years, whenever me, my bestie, my SIL and my partner talk about bad Christmas gifts, the joke usually goes straight to mothballs. Well this year my mum filled my stocking as usual, and I opened it to discover one of the things she'd included was ANOTHER PACK OF MOTHBALLS. Told her the linen cupboard was already full from the last lot she gave me(she'd forgotten giving me the first lot) and handed them back to her, then the second I was far enough away from my parents' house, I promptly told bestie and SIL that the joke had come true a second time. I swear, my mum doesn't know me AT ALL.

Got my grandpas bed shortly after he died, was amazing not to have to spend money on a good bed for my first apartment right after being homeless for a while. Honestly was really grateful to inherit it, it was only a year old too.

7:35 as a native I was shocked theg didnt know what to use antlers for, i had to remind myself more cultures than not don't use animal parts like that lmao.three of the most common things we use antlers for, its drilled out and a pipe is made out of it, the flat end is used to chip stone to make arrow and spear heads, and we also use the on the end of clubs to make the weapon have a point to it. There's many other things they're used for but those are the ones that come to mind lol

Not christmas, but my 16th birthday.... There was no party, because no one showed up. No cake, because frosting makes me sick. Presents, I got a flimsy little necklace that turned my skin green, a piece of lingerie that A) didn't fit me and B) I was a cringy goth kid, I had not ever then, and still do not now, wear such things. And a half a can of already-opened pringles. I was in state-run foster care/group home sort of deal. These days I hear about girls on their 16th birthday getting friggin' parades and cars and stuff and I just roll my eyes.
