I do feel like Ranpo belongs at the top. I think even the writer had to nerf him in the scene where it shows he needs his glasses to deduce who Kamui is, and that he said he messed up trusting blindly in Fukuzawa. The story would be too easily sovled and anticlimactic if he wasn't as nerfed and the writer didn't overpower Fukuchi.

My top 3 are 1. Ranpo (He may not be the best at outsmarting others, but the fact he can solve any case in literally seconds is amazing) 2. Dazai (he outsmarted Fyodor fir what we know so far, etc.) 3. Fyodor (he does have the same iq as Dazai, but for now all we know is that Dazai outsmarted him. If he is alive, I do think Dazai knows cuz at the end he wasn't as snarkey as usual.)

IK IM VERY LATE, BUT THIS IS FACTS To all the people saying Dazai is the #1 smartest bsd character, u clearly haven’t been paying attention. Sure, Dazai is possibly the strongest bsd character, however he certainly isnt the smartest. He admitted himself that Ranpo was a lot smarter than him and in season 4 + the rest of the manga, we see Ranpo with his full potential. He was the one who strategised the plan to save Kunikida and Yosano. He also made the plan to take down the Fukuchi guy. The only reason that didn’t work was cuz Fukuchi had the ability to see the future. AND IF ANY OF U ARGUE TO THAT PLZ REMEMBER DAZAI AND FYODOR WERE STUCK PLAYING CARDS TOGETHER THE ENTIRE TIME, HE DID NOTHING TO HELP. In ep 5 we can see his observational and deduction skills are superior to Dazai. Ofc i admit Dazai’s planning and strategy is better than Ranpo’s, Muchitaro still recognised Ranpo as Fypdor cuz of his strategy skills. In Season 5 Ranpo said he could ‘psychologically manipulate Fukuchi intro agreeing’ - he chose not to at the time cuz Fukuzawa said he trusted Fukuchi. Dazai = incredibly smart Ranpo = even smarter than Dazai And to those arguing about Fyodor vs Dazai, they have a similar IQ. We haven’t seen much of Fyodor’s full potential so-

Ranpo manipulating Fukuchi into agreeing with him can be a bluff even if it's not, even then it's nothing close to Dazai, Dazai deceived and manipulated the entire bsd plot nearly while also manipulating Fyodor. Dazai is the most intelligent character whether you agree or not, It's obvious come on, Fyodor admitted only Dazai to be his capable foe after which Dazai destroyed Fyodor, while Ranpo always got destroyed by Fyodor. I can do a full scale comparison to show you how Dazai's feats are way above Ranpo's feats if you are still not getting, this is only of anime or manga, in light novel, Dazai is even more superior to Ranpo or Fyodor. Also, Chuuya and Fukuchi are the strongest in the verse, that is if Dazai doesn't plan everything in advance.

Fyodor and Dazai created a language in prison using all previous conversations that they ever had with each other (great processing speed and working memory). They played a mental game of chess in prison. Dazai intuited/predicted that the world would change (book making the ADA terrorists) 10 years in advance and had Akutagawa be his eyes once it happened. Dazai reasoned that the Sky Casino was not actually made 13 years ago, but only 8 days ago. Fyodors planning and strategies are extremely broken as they were even able to throw off Ranpo multiple times. Dazai and Fyodor were guessing 6 digit numbers from the other on their first guess with no hints, etc. Fyodor, Dazai, and Ranpo heavily outclass the other BSD characters in intelligence imo

Another thing is, you didn't include Chuuya. He can literally calculate the damage rate within seconds before releasing Arahabaki and he is capable of understanding Dazai's plans without any trouble. He definitely deserves a spot on the IQ list.

@@maxtezcat88 Let me apologize for not wording it correctly but Ranpo said that he had to become a demon in order to fight with Fyodor which implies currently he's not enough to get Fyodor. Plus, Mushitaro has only seen half of Fyodor's brain power. Fyodor is using it all while, fighting with Dazai. That makes Mushitaro's deduction worthless. And as for Chuuya, just because he worked with Dazai for a long time doesn't make him intelligent. Even ADA members worked with him for a long time but majority of the people don't even know what he's thinking. Plus Chuuya's quick calculation skills doesn't come from being with Dazai, he had it long before he met him.

He wins against Mushitaro no because of his deduction or analaytic skills but because of his instinct who is also a very important point. And Dazai = Fyodor bro, in the manga we can see it mainy times during their confrontation
