Thank you for compiling this exceptional list of RPG titles

Thank you for the Beloved Rapture shoutout! Yes, it is currently planned to be PC only. It's RPGMaker origins are quite limiting in that way. Once we've cleared an initial release, we'll definitely be exploring whether console ports will be both technically/financially viable - as it could require largely remaking the game. Here's hoping!!

Core Keeper and Rabbit & Steel are the best indie coop games ive played this year. Core Keeper is basically a deep diving action rpg with numerous builds to play around whilst having a crafting, mining,sandbox, looter aspect. Rabbit and Steel is basically FFXIV Raids but without the initial grind, just straight to coop raiding.

The problem with 2D and game app development, is the fact you're using mainly textures and that cost a lot of memory. When using 3D graphics, you're mainly using memory to hold vertex data and that is much cheaper than texture data. Consider this... You have a 2D character that moves in eight directions, lets say a run animation of 8 frames. That's 8 x 8, which is 64 textures and that's just for the one animation set. With 3D, you have one geometry that gets transformed to every frame and you can rotate that geometry in any direction, so therefore, you have the full 360 directional movement on every angle, just by transforming the one mesh. It's not hard to see why 2D graphics is more expensive when it comes to game design.

Nintendo really needs to make another Earthbound game. The only version that came to Western countries was beloved. Capcom also needs to make a new Breath of Fire. Dragon Quarter failed, but that's because they took it into a different direction that made it not feel like BoF anymore.

Beloved Rapture is looking nice. Hard to believe it started off as just another RPG Maker 2k3 game back in 2010 or so. But seems they've really done a lot of work with it since earlier concept / demo. That and Ara Fell!

One that I don't see brought up much that I have my eye on is Hymn to the Earless God, made by the creator of Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass (not sure if it's just them again or if there's other people working on it too, I think there's a team this time around but it's usually just the one developer) Really liked Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass so I have my hopes up.

Indie game devs are laughably cautious when it comes to trying new art styles. It never ceases to amaze me how all these so-called “indie” games look like they come from some kind of megacorporation endless making the same game over and over.

@@gilardesunderstand the hate. Me too would immediately went "ah, another RPG maker game". Not saying those games are bad, but majority of it, is. My main judging point of whether the game going to be good or not is based on how many base assets they use. If it like, 90-100%, forget it The app might be the easiest to learn compare to other game engine, thus lots of people use it and producing game that only interesting for themselves but publish it online

@@wildanbaxtli6913 So your're saying the app / base is good but the result is not so much or okay the least but i see the game somehow almost the same with using the engine but somehow they manage to using another one to punch it up in the art and feature style don't you think.
@wildanbaxtli69136 ай бұрын
@@nadjo1787 that's what I said with using "90-100%" app's base assets. They literally use it as it is without adding anything, make it look bland and cheap. That's the problem with Majority (if not a lot) of RPG maker game. What do you think when you look at 1000+ games, but each look very much alike? I'm more prefer RPG maker games that have sh**ty artstyle compare to that bland in-app assets one. At least they put more effort and it look different

I am so sick of good looking games being turn based, i hate this game format, they always look so good story wise but then the game play is so tedious and slow. I just want to feel in control of the action not restricted to menu's as my only form of action. I want to actively dodge and attack and block. Not enough games give that option. I understand this is a long loved genre and for good reason their stories are usually fantastic but god let me control the action all these slow paced thinking battles suuuuuuck. Its like interactive chess and it takes way too long.
@kylemarschner87254 ай бұрын
I wish the creators would implement an option to play it both ways, just merge the two and have it as an option in the settings, i know it means longer programing times but if it means including more people to being able to enjoy your games why should that be an issue. Imagine every final fantasy having both a traditional turn based system version but also the ability to switch to the combat style of final fantasy 12 or 15, i would be in heaven.
