From what I can remember, the controversy surrounding Shield hero wasn’t as much a controversy in Japan, more so in the likes of America since the first episode aired round about the time when stories about false accusations of rape were either making the rounds or causing a lot of heated debates. All this despite the fact that the source material was published well before such discussions were common place.

I was mad about Rin being revealed as the twins' mother because I was expecting Kagura to get reincarnated as a human and meet Sesshomaru again. But then I saw some comment saying Sesshomaru was supposed to be Rin's lord, not her father. Also, a big chunk of the show took place in the 1500s, so I calmed my tits down.

This anime was bound to be banned in India because of the law which states that hurting religious sentiments are prohibited. At least no outrage was done like when south park did the same with depicting muhamad in their episode and the whole show was banned in 56 islamic country with their people demanding death to the show creators.

They also depicted Muhammad alongside Buddha, Moses, Joseph Smith, Krishna, Laozi, Jesus and Sea Man as a group called the Super Best Friends, though that drew substantially less ire. The original episodes 200 and 201 as submitted for broadcasting are completely uncensored, but they never made it to the light of day. Hilariously, the anti-censorship speech is completely censored most places you'll find 201, but the uncensored speech is at least still floating around.

My main problem for yashahime was that the daughter of the title character of the original series is more of a recurring side character in favor of the children of side characters from a pairing that wasn’t romantic because of the obvious age gap. And the way sesshomaru was put on a pedestal and inuyasha’s own daughter was seen less as his child and more the grandchild of the great dog demon.

There were two sides to the Shield Hero argument; those who were right, and those who thought it was in poor taste. Women can be trash just like men, and only those who were trash people themselves would try to say otherwise. Myne being legally renamed to "Bitch" and the king being renamed "Trash" were hilarious punishments, and they fully deserved it. Myne deserved worse of course, but her being treated like a fool and having a fitting new name was a good start. SAO: Alicization's controversy was hilarious and stupid. That scene was HEAVILY toned down, turning the would-be assaulters into brainless monkeys bouncing around on the bed in front of two very confused girls. Literally nothing happened aside from the one guy giving a lick on the leg, and it was cleaned from the source to be more of an unintentional comedy. People gotta stop getting mad over nothing. Also, SAO is overhyped garbage. Just spitting facts. Goblin Slayer, like SAO, was HEAVILY toned down, but unlike SAO, it wasn't a couple of idiots acting like monkeys. It was inexperienced and overconfident idiots learning that actions (or rather inaction) have consequences. This is just proof that gatekeeping is needed; learn the source of the show, do your homework in understanding what you're getting in to, and THEN you can watch something. Going in blind is fine and all, but keep your mouth shut if you have garbage takes. The funniest part is that there was something way worse in a later episode, and that didn't get any warning at all. Seeing Priestess get part of her arm bitten off wasn't easy on the page, and it sure as hell wasn't easy to watch. TL:DR; I like hearing bad takes. Gets me laughing. Also, FREE PORYGON FROM THE VAULTS. PORYGON DID NOTHING WRONG. It was Pikachu that caused the seizure incident, not Porygon.

I don't know anything about the SAO or Goblin Slayer controversies, but I do know about the Shield Hero one. Honestly some people (read mystoganist toxic feminists and their followings) just see men as the devil all the time and the woman never ever did anything wrong. Her truth is the only truth that matters when she's actually telling the truth. The entire point of this story arc as a) show casing just how damaging pulling this actually is to the male victim of the FALSE accusations and b) introducing a devious, somewhat villainous character to the story that represents one of the first major hurdles in the rise of the title character. Edit: I may have spelled the word "mystoganist" wrong earlier, but the word is so rarely known spell check keeps bringing back correction to "misogynist" which is hilariously ironic since the word I was trying to spell literally means the opposite. A woman who hates, degrades, demeans and is generally abusive towards men based solely on gender.

Redo of Healer "controversy" is shoehorned here. Nobody talked about that show - and it was more than enough material. I do remember the online outcry on Rise of the Shield Hero and Goblin Slayer and everybody expected the same on Redo of Healer, and nobody said anything. I guess the trend was over at the time. I do remember a lot of backlash on the Infinite Eight arc on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and it was so big that that show, that was riding as high as, say, Death Note, in the anime community, that I think it actually killed its legacy and I sense its a rather forgotten series since then, to the point that they never made any of the other light novels except for a spin-off that flew under the radar and the movie, that was superb.

I think the average person is pathetic if Goblin Slayer offended them. It was basically "So here is adventuring if you did it for reals" and surprise, surprise it's brutal and deadly. as a hetalia fan, i can say that yeah, the earlier chapters/episodes were cringy as hell, but the writing has gotten better over the years. with the situation with south korea, the character was supposed to appear in the anime from the beginning as he's very prevalent in the manga, but after his design sheet was released, the people of south korea as well as the government protested the character, and thus he has never been seen in the anime. hetalia as a whole never goes into any specific wartime attrocity (no ep about the holocaust, slavery, or anything mentioning genocide) aside from one throwaway joke that's only in the english dubbed anime from 2009. there's maybe a couple handfuls of serious chapters that touch on nations having a falling out with each other or nations disappearing from existense, but the series has always been a comedy first, with the element of historical satire. what gets me about the whole "turning countries that committed attrocities into cutesy anime boys" complaint many have is that every major nation has committed attrocities and will continue do so, there's no tip-toeing around that. you could throw darts at a map, and every one of them would hit a country that's done some fuckshit. i'm honestly glad himaruya choose to just have these characters gloss over ww2 and do mostly silly shit like squabble at a meeting table and dunk on america's eating habits, because everyone would be losing their shit worse if hetalia really was a serious historical that touched on the horrors of genocide, political alliances, and nationalism with the gimmick of anthropomorphic countries.

Did no one watch the Porygon episode before releasing it and thought that the flashing lights were too much? That is hard on the eyes. I watched that episode wearing sunglasses since I had the misfortune of catching a glimpse of that scene. The Porygon episode is interesting. I heard 4Kids wanted to release an altered and safer version of that episode (that would be a good edit for once) but Japan wouldn't give it to them. -I did not expect Goblin Slayer to be this dark. I was expecting something like Slayers. Remember that anime? This should have a more mature art style like Berserk. GRIFFIIIIITH °Д°!

Yeah I had an issue with this too. We see him getting beaten within an inch of his life, forced to consume drugs, forced to perform oral sex, raped and strangled to the point of passing out. In comparison what he did isn't really enough if we're going eye for an eye. I mean the princess had some fingers broken and got raped, then she had her memory erased and body fixed good as new. I guess it's an issue that he convinced her she loves him, but the truly fucked up angle would of been convincing her she's a prostitute and whoring her out to randoms on the street for cheap coin.

Speaking of Berserk, I remember the massive amount of hate the new series got when it finally returned. It was far less so for the movies, but once we got new seasons, the hate for the show and it's animation overtook the fact that it had finally returned after decades and was pushing the story past the Golden Age arc.

A lot of those controversies are understandable though. Goblin Slayer - Most of it was mainly because the 1st episode just seemed to be there for shock factor since the rest of the series was more lighthearted and typical anime. Sure there's worse anime out there but those keep the same level throughout so it doesn't seem like a cheap way to get noticed. Oshi No Ko - while realistic, it hits home for many who have dealt with the situation in the past. Some just don't think it's appropriate especially if it too closely mimics a real life incident. I've seen similar reactions by some from the US on shows that have 9/11 as a plot point. Record of Ragnarok and Jojo - all people are like that. "It's fine to make fun/hate on anything except if it relates to/ affects me ." Happens all the time. This time it's just that it involves the religion of the country that banned it. Heck, you'd probably have calls to ban it in the US if they had included Jesus as a contestant. Uzaki - Sure she's just short and is 18 in the show, so it makes it okay in this circumstance. But there's dozens of anime and hentai where there are characters who are portrayed as underage girls with similar designs that are sometimes given the excuse that it's fine because they're actually 1000 year old spirits or whatever. People who see Uzaki's design were obviously gonna react. You can argue there are people like that in real life but let's be honest that the artists don't have them in mind. But otoh, sexualizing underage girls isn't just a Japan or Eastern thing, it's everywhere. Japan is just a lot more open about it, especially in some of their anime. Redo and SAO - Kinda obvious why people complained even if it has a story justifying everything. Shield Hero - The controversy wasn't largely that she falsely accused him, it's that there were a lot of guys claiming that most accusations irl were false and that an anime was finally 'showing the truth'. Even though stats show that a very small percentage of accusations have ever turned out to be false. Yes there are plenty who walk away without being charged with anything, but that's mainly due to lack of evidence in such cases rather than being made up stories. Death Note - yeah, moral panic over shows/games causing violence despite studies showing they don't have an influence will always be a thing. It's as stupid as people who think seeing LGBTQ+ people in media will change their orientations.

For Saint Seiya Female saint always wear mask it was tradition how the F are you gonna have a female saint with out a mask that would tarnish the original rule they had establish. If i remember correctly it was a Law that stated "Female saint must always were a mask if anyone sees her with out it there has to be 1 of 2 outcomes, one marry the person who saw you with out a Mask or Kill him.
