I got The Sopranos, The Wire and Madmen over Breaking Bad because in my opinion Breaking Bad nothing compares to the first time you watch it but the other 3 tv shows I mentioned get better everytime you rewatch them. I had watched Breaking Bad like 4 times already but it still doesnt compare to the first time I saw it. The Wire, Madmen and Sopranos maybe they didnt improved each season like Breaking Bad but they improved everytime I rewatched them again. Breaking Bad doesnt get worse but it is like a hard drug lol meth, H and crack where it impacts you the first time but you will always chase that amazing feeling. The 3 shows I mentioned are like art.

And it has an imdb rating of 8.9 and rotten tomato score of 90% (only well written shows has that kind of rating) and the acting, plot and characters are acclaimed by audiences as well as critics.

Maybe its just me but I undervalue Imdb ratings and tomato meter i just use it as an indicator. After all anyone without sense of quality can rate a 10/10 on imdb and tomato meter is just percentage of critics that gave it a 6/10 or higher. Emmys hold no value in my eyes just like oscars its just a Hollywood ppl thing.

@@zhye5588 again I respect your opinion. But the film and television academy consists of 6000 experienced film experts from worldwide and based on their voting the film/tv series is elected as best. And they are far more experienced than any of normal audience and from them what I've learned is that, they do recognize good writing and acting, which are the core elements in a film or tv series. I've found their judgement satisfactory in 8/10 scenarios. And also you've mentioned that anyone can vote 10/10 in Imdb, that's true, but average rating is based on thousands of votings, So I don't think that few reviews can alter the whole system.

I noticed that the rating on IMDb for a show is a rating given as a whole and not the average rating of all the episodes as I always thought it was. So, me being me, I added up every episode rating and divided it by the number of episodes to get an average and it makes for a very interesting read. I only looked at the following shows and ranked them from highest to lowest. - Breaking Bad: 9.03 (62 episodes) - Mr. Robot: 9.01 (45 episodes) - Better Call Saul: 8.86 (50 episodes) - The Leftovers: 8.86 (28 episodes) - Game of Thrones: 8.83 (73 episodes) - Peaky Blinders: 8.81 (30 episodes) - The Sopranos: 8.70 (86 episodes) - The Wire: 8.68 (60 episodes) - Mad Men: 8.48 (92 episodes) Breaking Bad had a rating of 9.43 for its final season (16 episodes) and is the only series with an episode rated 10/10 (Ozymandias). Mr. Robot had a rating of 9.32 for its final season (13 episodes). Game of Thrones had an average of 9.06 if we exclude the final season. The final season of Game of Thrones had an average of 6.33 (6 episodes). I've excluded Chernobyl as this is a miniseries with only 5 episodes and should rather be compared to shows like Band of Brothers, The Pacific, etc. However, one of the best shows that I've watched with an average rating of 9.60 across the 5 episodes.

Person Of Interest is top 5 imo. The only negative is it was obvious they were forced to end it quickly. Plot development within plots. Great character development. They had to kill off characters quick due to top execs pulling the plug but they did great with what they had to work with.

Shame that Dexter and Peaky Blinders didn't make this list. They deserved at least Honorable Mentions. Despite the landings they couldn't quite stick, Lost and Game of Thrones will always have a place in my heart. 6 Feet Under was a rare gem in that it was excellent from start to finish and I was actually inspired to watch it after falling in love with Michael C Hall on Dexter. I only watched the first 3 seasons of The Sopranos, but I got a real kick out of that show. Maybe it's time to binge some Tony and "the family."

@@Mr.Walrus23 the writing the acting, that not only do you get a view from key historical figures, that much of it actually comes from a roman every man view point also centers the series in a way that was cool. Demonstrates the classes that existed and how all navigated within it. it was visually stunning, especially the opulence of homes of the upper class, so much so that you could see how well off they were, and historically how advanced the romans were. Compare that with the middle-ages life and even the renaissance, the romans had better medicine, better notions of hygiene. Take all the intrigue of the best political series, add some of the best military campaigns in human history, there is seedy street criminals (sopranos /breaking bad) some of the best buddy adventures and add the best content of the history channel and you can see why the series can be great

@@Mr.Walrus23 ps i re-watched mindhunter, and it climbed to Number 2, especially the Cameron Britton portrayal of Ed Kemper, having viewed footage of the real Ed Kemper and I must say I was gobsmacked by his evocation, as well as the brilliant performances across all characters. It is not higher as I feel it is incomplete and while the lone 2 seasons are amazing, it feels that more needs telling

Btw, I enjoyed the Mind Hunters as well, and I still have high hopes that a third season will emerge sooner or later. Though I would not quite place the series in my top 10 list, but it is certainly up there. Perhaps a rewatch could pump its spot higher.

@@Mr.Walrus23 For Mindhunter, I have had 4 go-arounds, and the last time it stemmed from documentary footage of Kemper, that I literally asked myself if he played himself, that I re-watched, and I got more immersed in it. Currently giving Marco Polo a watch and it too is great (other than it being a Weinstein production)

I don't know all the tv shows, watched a few and my favorites are here, except for Vikings. For me Vikings is one of the best, if not top of the list. It is much more than a historic hack and slash action show. It showcases with great details the life and the philosophies of that time. It is a show of great characters, of ambition, humility, understanding, adventure, exploration and everything that makes us human, full of historical specificities. It is suspenseful, dramatic, philosophical, a game of chess, a romantic saga. It can get tedious at times, given it's length, but oh man, is it glorious.

@@markjones5672 daredevil is a pretty solid tv show, its bingable in spurts of like 3-5 episodes I reckon but I can get sick of it easily and did. And i don't mind the boys if i'm in the 'fuck yeah man-rection' mood and can look past the mostly shallow and annoying cast/actors. Honestly, I think that this 'watchmojo top 20 whatever the fuck' should have included some range of animated tv because truth be told, there are a lot of animated tv shows that easily beat many of these shows listed like Avatar, Rick and Morty or maybe even Adventure Time (kinda). not top 10 spots but between 10-20 somewhere
