Margaret should've been allowed to marry Townsend without having to choose between her privileges and him. This must've been karma for Elizabeth since 3/4 of her kids got divorced. Apparently, it was also because of Margaret's experience that Elizabeth allowed Harry to marry Megan and let them step down.

And while she was still quite traditional, probably the main thing that sustained her in the throne for so long, a lot of progress happened with her, notably women didn't have to step down in the line of succession if a younger male was born.

She did want to do the interview. She knew Bashir was lying, her own brother told her not to go through with it. But she wanted the world to know what she was going through, which is also why she approved of Andrew Morton's book and allowed her friends and family to give him information for the book. The only reason she couldn't definitely say she was working with him, was because at the time, she was a working royal.

Henry the VIII created the Church of England so he could get divorced and remarried, then Edward the VIII had to abdicate cuz the Church of England forbid marrying a divorcee! Like that was the whole reason it was created!!!

Plus he and Wallace never had children so the line if succession (if I'm not mistaken) would have gone to Elizabeth ii after he died. I'm pretty sure her Dad predeceased Edward but other than that the line is the same... Also Charles was allowed to marry Camilla and they're both divorced was it only deemed okay after she hit menopause and could no longer have kids?

Charles wasn't originally allowed to marry Camilla which is how Diana even came about but also Margaret was not allowed to marry her first love either because he was divorced. Elizabeth didn't want another Edward situation on her hands if she said no to charles again. If the rules had stuck William would be king now and Harry would have lost his place in line marrying Meagan

Diana was a beloved person and used her title to improve the lives of others, however, they were never a suitable match. He should have married Camilla all along. The paparazzi chase definitely played a big role, but to say the BRF had something to do with it is lunacy. Diana was the mother of the future King, she herself was a monarchist and was extremely proud that William would one day be King. In her final years, her relationship with the BRF wasn't sunshine and rainbows, but there was a mutual respect. Again, please stop it with the conspiracy theories. Even if she's gonna be queen on May 6, Camilla will never EVER be able to hold a candle to Diana who is the Queen of Hearts. I seriously can't blame Diana for having affairs herself since she was seeking for the love she couldn't get from her husband. While I get it that Camilla is Charles' true love, they absolutely had no right to build their happiness over Diana's unhappiness. You have to understand that the monarchy is more like an institution than a family. Whether you like them or not, whether you like Megan and Harry or not, this family/institution has been going for centuries!!! I don't personally believe everything the media puts out there about any of them, none of us really know all the secrets; but this definitely makes me think: why did Princess Diana struggle with this family/institution and she went against lots of their traditions but we don't seem to judge her and criticize her but with Harry and Megan, we can't seem to empathize and sympathize with them.
