The Power/Force Draw is my favorite shot. The last one by Corey Deuel is awesome to watch. It resembles the cicular draw but better imo. Great video. The power draw: Have confidence in your tip, plenty of chalk always, and the snap of the wrist, we're gonna really let go. -Louie Roberts

Not entirely sure which tournament, but I think the last World Cup of Pool, Albin had the white in the bottom right like 2cm from the rail, the three was almost in the pocket top left and the four was just next to the white and he played a perfect draw back to where it was. Pretty similar to the SVB shot but he played it off the rail. Definitely needs to be in here.

The first pool instructor explained why I used draw too much. It's a fascination of how you can bend the physics/reality of the pool table. What he didn't explain is that follow will reliably get you a rail or two to keep you inline for a pattern runout. I still draw too much and I'm fine with that, fun over success I guess.

I use to put the cue ball on the headstring and the object ball on the footstring set up dead straight and draw to catch 3 rails with a $30 cue. I don't know what was up with that tip, but it was like a samurai sword

Thanks for the video. That explains why all the top pros now play with way softer tips that all us old school guys from the La Pro days 30 & 40+ years ago. Reminds me of the old pool hall house cues with soft elk master soft tips we would like to hit with once in a while to show off and back spin the shit out of the ball. I’m going to switch y to a Kamui Brown S. Ha. I see some pros are using SS Super soft now. Obviously the new felt, table & balls make a difference I remember drawing some that would seem to never stop. Cheers.

If you ask any pro they will all say a softer tips will smash more and stick on the cue ball more to emply the most spin compared to a hard tip. Hard tips are more accurate & control speed more and used more for break and jump and more prone to miss cues and spin less than a soft tip and harder creat massive spin compared to soft tip less prone to miscues. Soft is less accurate too compared to hard. Again as I said before all the pros these days play softer tips than we did in the 80’s & 90’s La Pro pros. Again thanks for the great videos.

@@DrDaveBilliardsand to further explain the physics one reaction creates another reaction let’s use golf as an example. A harder shaft is harder to create spin on the ball than a softer shaft. And at the same time in general softer ball is easier to spin than a harder golf ball. Of course swing speed and angle of attack, loft & lie & hot or cold weather makes a difference too like I mentioned earlier about new felt, balls, temp etc. hope that all helps clarify. Cheers

I am just sitting here watching pool games on my smartphone. I had a flashback when I used to play. It's amazing some of the antics people will use to try to make you miss. I recall a few times when I was playing a couple guys I know, perhaps they knew that I had three or four balls I could make they would always pull out that doggone tip tapper. LOL😅 I'M SURE YOU KNOW AS WELL AS I DO WHAT A RACKET THAT THING CAN MAKE. The thing is these guys were good enough they didn't have to resort to that but nevertheless they did.. LOL HAVE YOU Had that one pulled on you before ? I think the guy who invented the tip tapper, invented it for two purposes. Tip softener. And opponent distractor.

Great stuff, Doctor. I've tried to tell my 9 ball pals that "The Pearl" uses $8/12 cubes of (blue) Masters chalk for amazing cue ball control and powerhouse draws. You don't need $30 Roku per cube to do that. For them, "What's good for the mind=what's good for their game." I use Longoni Blue Diamond and am very satisfied at $8/2.

Obviously, it depends on the player. If one cannot execute power draw shots with confidence and consistency, then power draw is not a good option. Other than the "Just Showing Off" shots, all the shots were chosen and executed by world class players in pro tournaments, so the shots were probably the best option in each game situation. Speaking of a draw jumpshot. I remember years ago One evening while at a bar. This guy I never met before said you want to come over my house and play some for a few bucks. I said sure. Keep in mind this is a bar table in his basement. He had me stuck about 30 bucks. Then he got stuck behind the ball and jumped over it and drew the cue ball back. At that point I knew I was out classed. We became pretty good friends, But after that shot I knew I was out classed. He was a real good hustler especially for big bucks. Me I was only a $2 or $3 player maybe five. But he shot real good for 50 bucks or better per game. Keith

What makes it awesome is the equipment they're playing is slow felt and 4 1/2" pockets. You can tell from the sound of his cue it was hard hit with a lot of spin. He''ll always be the GOAT to me.

Jasmin Ouschan has a great one against Tony Crosby with her coach and Danny D on commentary actively talking about the shot in question before it happens. Danny D talks about how much he doesn't like the shot and then she hits it perfectly. Then her coach downplays the difficulty of the shot which Danny immediately tells him, "I've been playing 100 years. I can't remember what type of tables I was playing on years ago but they were big ones 9 footers. If you rolled the cue ball to the cushion it would almost spring off it had such great bounce. Or what I would call lively. They may have been Brunswick I just don't remember way too many years ago.

bouncy = lively (fast rebound speed) = high coefficient of restitution not bouncy = deadening (slow rebound speed) = low coefficient of restitution

I do not like your usage of "a lot of power" in reference to what is a lot of backspin applied vs what is forward impetus and or power applied going forward. There is a direct correlation that can be measured and therefore, "power" as a communication is lost in translation without a reference in specifics and or application in accordance to... That in itself is from the delivery side of the equation, being the signal transmission and most ideal recognition of container in angular terms etc etc. Its all rather irrelevant and or relevant to, what is ultimately, the coefficient friction rate and or what i have codefied as: BURN RATE ...a measurement of friction in total distance terms and or relevant terms ie; a container vessel (cue ball) and its recognition vs ideal relative travel in standard mean time vs relevant mean in recognition to coefficient travel distance... BECAUSE a cb with a high burn rate will arrive at collision point OB much later than a cb in equal power applied for both equal distance events, if angular delivery of signal transmission varies between impetus forward vs backspin applied. The energy in application has to go somewhere and it should be obvious that a long distance result of ob collision after the launch point fact, CAN AND WILL BE, ....a elastic and low burn rate due to a energy recognition of containment, forcing a airborne event vs a high backspin applied burn rate first and impetus forward second as a result of remaining energy transmission... A "draw shot" therefore, is once again like many pool terms, a undefined misnomer of percieved result, rather than relative event... It shouldn't be difficult to measure the friction latency of a given table and its surface material state ... Me thinks first to mind: Cobalt in spherical dimension form of a scaled-down universal radius dimension and or same size as what is universal, BUT, ...what is not, AND THAT IS, ... composition of said cb as well as weight in non universal dimension, WHICH NOW, ...unfortunately opens another door of relevant measurement ie; BURN RATE in relation to codified events pertaining to what is relative ie; measel cb vs red circle etc in relation to frictional surface properties of said spherical cobalt measurement device in scaled down heat sink duration event as a correlated measurement to non universal specs in playing and or game theory terms....
