Pazuandfriends hey i was wondering if you could make a video of traveling with you ferrets bc i am going to get a ferret in the near future but my parents are divorced so i have to go to my dads house every other weekend a 45 min drive there (so i see him 4 day a month) and i would not want to leave my ferret in my room the whole weekend so do you think it would be a good idea to have a single unit ferret nation cage as the main cage here at my moms and then when I go to my dads have a smaller type of cage (not super small but just cheaper then a ferret nation) that I know the ferret can’t escape out of? thx for reading this i don’t kno how to phrase it lol i love you videos❤️

Awesome video! It makes me so mad that 99% of products marketed to ferrets are actually garbage for them. I think every ferret owner has fallen for the trap at least once so this video is a great resource for people who are new to ferrets.

It's the same for most animals sadly. Majority of the market is garbage. I have so much trouble getting quality pellets for my conure most of them are dyes and fillers. Same problem with all pets sadly.

Wysong starch free ferret food is probably the best ferret kibble on the market. I’ve compared all the ingredients between the dry foods. The protein content is the highest and the carb content is extremely low. I’d say it’s a fine food and will keep your ferret healthy if you cannot do raw. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yup I third this. I use wysong Epigen 90 and it is by far the safest choice for kibble. All cat food I’ve come across has added vegetables and other plant material binders which will kill your ferret over time. Wysong does not use any of these garbage products and your ferret will live a long time

my family got a marshall ferret when i was 7. we didn't even plan on it, he was so sick, much older than the other ferrets in the store and completely isolated in a tiny cage it broke our hearts and we walked out of the store with him. watching these videos make me wish i somehow could have done more to improve his life as much as we could have. he lived 8 years and was extremely loved and cared for, but knowing that the products were probably doing more harm than good makes me feel so sick :( Alfredo was the purest little creature I've ever been blessed to meet and thinking of all the other ferrets out there like him makes me wish I could do more for them

Another unneeded item is exercise balls! It's so sad the amount of ferret rehoming ads I've seen that include exercise balls... Just why?? They're debatedly not even good for most rodents, and people are sticking a weasel in them. And you just know people using them are using the exercise ball in place of free roam time. Just so sad all around.

Not the smartest method due to dust and dirt inhalation, but my ferrets go batshit crazy for my broom whenever i am trying to sweep. They play with my broom more than any of the toys I bought for it. I would highly recommend getting a new broom for them strictly to play with

I use Wysong. Some ferrets just will not eat raw. One of my two will not touch it. He will only eat kibble. Please don't bash owners for not feeding raw. Its not one way is better then another. Kind of reminds me of someone bashing a mom for formula feeding.

(Mod) Hi, due ferrets being fed kibble since birth they don't understand that raw meat is actually food raw is the best way to prevent a variety of illnesses and cancers that ferrets are prone to and over the ferrets on it seem healthier. That is a great analogy. I also use Wysong as I don’t have a lot of storage so feeding raw would not be feasible for me. I gave it a try but I also have a ferret that refuses to eat raw. My deaf Waardy boy Sheldon has refused from day one. I see nothing wrong with some people choosing to feed kibble. I see this in many groups the constant bashing between different choosing of what food to feed . Just keep trying you haven’t tried hard enough. I have an extremely smart Warrdy boy that responds to visual stimuli. I think if he really wanted to eat raw he would have by now. I have kept ferrets for many years and have a private bred boy and they are all happy and healthy on their diet of kibble. I feed Wysong along with Instinct Ultimate and give Stella and Chewy FD, duck and quail eggs as treats. I choose to feed raw and my ferrets are not any less healthy or happy for that.

You need a shed or large cage/ large rat cage. You need ferret food and raw meat like ham. A bed (they like blankets), you need to bathe them once a month (try to avoid any chemicals like shampoo), water ofc. Lots of time 2/3 hours a day. It's best to get two ferrets because they can get very lonely and just die but if you give them enough attention they will be fine. You need lots of toys like balls and tubes. I really hope you have read this comment because I think it's helpful 😂

They produce more oils to make up for the dry irritated skin you’ve given them during their bath. This causes them to smell worse than when you didn’t bathe them

When I got my girl from someone who didnt who didnt want her anymore, the ferret kibble she was on had grains as the first 3 ingredients with NO TAURINE. Didnt even know it was legal to sell something to a carnivour thats not suitable for a carnivour. You could see she wasnt well, bad eye sight, stiff back legs she dragged. Legs are ok now ok after switching, gained 100g within a week and fluff has all come out 😁

I got my ferrets from a friend, who got them from a bad situation (absolute filth, small cage that was actually a BIRD cage, low grade food, no roam time) my friend was sick with cancer and couldn’t keep them (he has since passed) so I got them about a week after he got them. My friend gave me all the stuff they came with which was literally all marshals products (odor control stuff mostly) and kibbles and bits cat food…small corner litter boxes, water bottles with no water bowls, no bedding or hammocks, etc…my friend knew they needed a lot more but couldn’t provide it so I took them, but I knew NOTHING abt ferrets and my friend was declining quickly so couldn’t really help me…but right off the bat all the Marshall’s products were sus (from my experiences with commercial dog shampooes and skin issues with my dog) but after like a week or two of solid research (and finding your channel last year) I realized just how bad their situation was …I never fed them the kibbles and bits anyways. I have cats I would NEVER feed that to. I’ve always used ziwi peak and freeze dried raw with my cats and transferee my ferrets to that and they did great. I’d like to transfer them (and my cats) to raw But anyways…these Marshall’s products and foods are AWFUL…one time I bought a bag of food from petco when I was in a pinch and my ziwi order didn’t come in and it made my boys so sick :( it just boggles my mind how these products are marketed TOWARD ferrets and not at all suitable for them ??

i just rehomed a ferret from another woman not even a week ago and every thing of his that she has given me is on this list! his food, his shampoo, the odor water spray from marshalls! she had him for quite awhile and he’s only 14 months so i’m really hoping that i still have time to make him more healthy. he’s also from marshall farms so i’m so sad about that but i still wanna give him the best life that i can, like he deserves. thanks for the video! wysong is probably one of the best dry kibble for ferrets as it is rich in protein, and wysong also has plenty of other things for ferrets that are good supplements instead of feeding raw meat

The ferret bubble bag is a good product if you drill more holes in the top of the bubble put ice packs in the bottom and put something over the ice packs and if you're clever enough install a little fan at the top of the bubble with these modifications the bubblepack is a good product my favorite buddy loves going in his bubble and going for a walk through the woods

10:52 I personally have had experience with the plastic cage. My girl used to cage rage really bad when I first got her (I was a new ferret mom) and was able to break one the bars and escape from it. $90 down the drain

You showed Wysong Epigen 90 as an example for what your ferret should not be eating but Epigen 90 is rated as the most nutritious and safest kibble available for ferrets, it has absolutely zero vegetable or starch binders in it u like most ferret and cat food, and it has a protein percentage of 92%. Hands down best food I’ve ever purchased for mine

Ceramic bowls are actually not good because they contain micro pockets and bacteria start to grow on those micro pockets so even if you wash your bowl and you change the water there’s still drinking that bacteria that can cause issues in their digestive system instead, you want to use stainless steel bowls

I use freeze dried salmon and never use Marshall. I rescued 6 boys 2 years ago . They were on wysong. I changed them to instinct raw boost chicken . Tried to switch to raw but they won't touch it . I watch your videos all time . Love your babies

Pure Bites, and Stewart brands make great freeze dried treats.. you'll get more for your money with the dog treat version. I've also found they have no stomach issues with the chicken version. They like the liver, but it causes tarry stools.

I Remember when I first used Marshall's ferret shampoo when I washed my Ferrets and after my lungs would hurts and I would constantly be on my bed gasping for air for hours then I switched to oatmeal socks and WOW THE DIFFERENCE

If anyone needs to bathe their ferret at any point (they should only have this done if they really need it) then get a sock or a panty hose and fill it with oats.. Put it in the water until the water turns white/milky and then take it out. Your ferrets then go in. It is great for their furr and the best thing for them bath wise..it will not strip them of their oils but cleanse them and they are so soft.

You should water cool the pack by wrapping the outside in thick clear hose for fish aquariums,gravity in mind! Add cold water through the tubes! Use the pack while bike riding which will circulate air around the pack!

I don't mind the "smell " of my 5 ! They love my smell TOO . First thing I hear omg 5 ferrets do they smell ? Your house must smell . Wow !

I've gotten some different information regarding cleaning ears from a veterinarian. Although we have several ferrets, according to our veterinarian it's a good idea to still clean the ears out from time to time, especially because (according to her) cleaning can help prevent getting ear mites.

Thanks for the great content and information! I didn't know about salmon oil oxidation I will need to look for better one, in the meantime fish are great. I usually only use the oil for nail clipping as I do it alone.

I'm no able to feed my ferret raw, I'm in the UK and I use a company that I believe to be safe, the one thing that annoys me is all ferret kibble has a very small percentage of something like potato in it, it's like people don't think at all

I'm trying fish with my BABIES so far no GO I'm guilty of FERRET sticks ! My one boy loves them but I now cut in half watch he don't chock .

The only reason I use loose bedding is because my little guy eats blankets and we’ve had several close calls with blockages. I wish I could give him snuggly blankets but he just tears holes through them even after 12 hours of free roam time. His hammock also gets nibbled on but I don’t take that out because he needs a bed.

I figured that the marshel treats, octopus toy, plastic cage, chew sticks and water bottles. I’m have all of these and I’m going to get rid of all of it. The only thing I got right was using pee pads and paper pellets. Also, we r making a cage for him out of an old dresser and I would like ur opinion on it so I can provide the best for my ferret. Is there a way I can send u a picture?

I have multiple of those terrible cages my boys love to use them as sleeping spots I put blankets over them and inside they love it
