I got to meet Chuck Huber (the voice of Android 17 and so many more) a couple sundays ago at the Sundial Bridge Comicon. Meeting him and getting an autograph from him was probably the biggest highlight of the whole thing, he was so nice

He doesn't have Saiyan superpowers but in some ways he does more with less! He's a better husband and father than Goku and Vegeta. One thing I liked about the Frieza arc where they went to the planet Namek is that Krillin got to show his talent for leadership!

Why would he? As far as he knows both of them are evil just like his brother. Also his parents were likely purified and reincarnated like Vegeta was going to be when he died.

His parents were killed on Planet Vegeta, so they would have likely gone to that planet's version of the check-in station and its version of Hell instead of Earth's.

If I remember the old rules correctly, his parents likely wouldn't have been able to keep their bodies. I suppose one could argue Bardock's defiance against Frieza and attempt at freeing the Saiyans from him could redeem him somewhat I figured him and Gine at best would just be the little chattering clouds in line at Planet Vegeta's otherworld check-in station.

Notice that most of Goku's allies started out as his enemies to some extent. Even Krillin, when he joined Goku for Roshi's training, started out as a rather shifty schemer. (Remember the episode where Roshi threw the rock and the first one who brought it back would be the only one who'd get dinner?)

I like that Android 17 seems to have been influenced by Android 16. I also like that this series leaves things like that up for interpretation and doesn't have to beat you over the head with character nuances told through constant inner monologs or flashbacks. A lot of other anime treat its viewers like they can't remember what happened in the beginning of the episode they're currently watching, let alone episodes from an arc ago

There are lots of other Dragon Ball characters that I like. Chichi: Like Bulma, Gohan's wife is an awesome diva! You have to feel sorry for her--she just wanted a normal family, like Charlie Brown just wanted a normal dog. "What good is Gohan saving the earth if he doesn't get into a good school?" Yajirobe: A punk ronin who provides some good comedy. (And he got to be a hero once cutting the tail off the Giant Ape...) Launch: A blue-haired nice girl who turns into a yellow-haired bank robber (and back) when she sneezes. Baba: Roshi's sister, a witch-seer who's in it for the money. (But she comes to like Goku.) Gotenks: The product of fusion between Gohan and Young Trunks, he combines their superpowers but suffers from super-attitude, leading to erratic results. Weez: Beerus' lackey is also his old mentor, and a funny character himself. And I like Mr. Popo more than some people...

I definitely like Bardock (Z) best of this list. I like that he is generally unremarkable as a Saiyan warrior but ultimately fights to redeem his people and take on Frieza alone. Bardock on Super seems so lack lustet to me. I think Z Bardock is the best representation of who Goku's father would have been- a Saiyan warrior every bit of ruthless as Vegeta or Nappa.

Honestly, Dragon Ball kind of sucks att maintaining the relevance of some characters. Both Tien, Yamcha and Piccolo had huge build ups in the original series, only to get sidelined or reduced to punching bags. However it was refreshing that Piccolo had such a key role in the recent Super hero movie. They are all cool characters and deserve some more development.
