Pretty sure that Tessa and Hardin should be in the top five of this list instead of being ranked at #11. Tessa even acknowledges in the sequel After We Collided that she and Hardin are toxic but yet gives their “relationship” a second chance? The only smart characters in the After series are Landon and Trevor. I’m going to defend Holly and Eric from Life As We Know It. If you read the book Something Borrowed, then you know that Darcy is no innocent victim.

Sierra Burgess would have been a better movie had Veronica gotten together with Jamey instead, since it was implied that she genuinely grew to like him. The ending of the catfisher ending up with their victim is so problematic, and Sierra didn't even properly apologise, unless you count her song, which many don't.

The only one I am going to defend is holly and Eric. I liked how despite their arguing, they managed to realize what was important: taking care of the baby. There were also these cute moments that made me root for them like when Eric offered to invest in her business. They had nice sweet moments in between everything and learned to grow together. It is not like they got married in the end. I am fine with couples deciding to give it a chance first just to see what happens.

@@MMLynnmarie while I did not love every role she was in, I liked her in 27 dresses and the movie they listed. I love/hate the ugly truth. I think she has this charm about her and she can play vulnerability well, in my opinion. I also find it fascinating that besides the Ugly truth, most of the stories are tragedy masked with comedy. For example, 27 dresses was on the surface your typical romantic comedy, but underneath it was a sad story. She lost her mom and was forced to grow up early by taking care of her sister. In return, her sister walked all over her and took her for granted. Katherine’s character, jane got taken advantage of by everyone except her best friend and her love interest, kevin. It is sadder than I am making it seem. The “life as we know it” was also sad when you take the comedy out of it. I think these two reasons are why she is popular. She is not the best actress, but I don’t think she is the worst either.

And i agree that Holly and Eric develop a good relationship under the circunstances. As about her acting, I don't think you have to be a great actor to do a romantic comedy...you just have to be good enough to sell the emotion, and I think she does, even in GA she accomplished that... And for instance, Natalie Portman is a wonderful actress and No strings attached is cute...but the truth is that it is not in top 10 or even maybe top20 of romcoms...

I actually liked Gigi and Alex together. They had good chemistry, and I think the movie does a good job showing why they were compatible. Alex makes Gigi demand more from guys and helps her think about what she really wants out of a relationship. Gigi was a really brave character when it comes to love, and when Alex callously rejected her, she stood up for herself and calls him out on his bullshit. Then, he realizes that she was right about his feelings for her and apologizes. I thought they were a good match and really balanced each other out. I agree about everyone else, though.

I remember watching Happiest Season and it was not terrible. But I 100% agree that Abby and Harper should not have got back together. I honestly was expecting Abby to go off with Aubrey, they seemed such a better choice. Don't get me wrong everyone was a different coming out story. Me and my girlfriend know from experience but Harper did many things that were just cruel.

I highly concur! Abby deserved to be with someone who really appreciated her for who she was, and Riley seemed to be more compatible with her than she ever was with Harper. While I understand why Harper felt uncomfortable with coming out to her ultra Conservative parents, she didn't need to throw her own girlfriend under the bus in the process.

I’m so weirdly offended that Life as We Know It is on this list lol. It’s not the best movie ever made, but it’s a guilty pleasure of mine and I disagree with that entry. The movie does show us that they hang out fairly often even before their friend’s deaths, so I don’t think they ever actually hated each other’s guts. It seemed like a more friendly rivalry than anything, considering how they leaned on each other after their friend’s died. They just have some nasty fights in the movie because they’re going through a really emotional time, a lots going on, and they’re trying to figure out what their lives should look like now (plus, you know, plot reasons. I’m not going to act like the movie is above reproach).

It’s cute that y’all think Nick Dunne has a choice in the matter. If he left, he would be the most vilified man in America for leaving a pregnant woman and his unborn child. Yeah he wants to do right by his child, but to me that’s the driving force to stay. Amy has him locked for 18 years. As pointed out in Dominic Noble's Breaking Dom reviews, the number one thing that Bella loves about Edward is that she feels safe with him. Okay, it's not logical, but don't tell me a feeling of safety isn't a good feeling. But a major problem is that Edward has very little insight into Bella in comparison to everyone else. That's probably why he's never found anyone else - because he knows their flaws inside out. Would he still love Bella if he knew as much as we, the readers, did?

I am going to argue with Dex and Rachel, the movie did a terrible job of portraying what happened in the book. Dex and Rachel were meant to be together he loved her all through law school and never knew that she felt the same way. Also, the sequel Something Blue explains that Darcy was kind of an awful person.....until later in the book.

Out of all the couples on this list, the only one I know about, and care about for that matter, is Gigi and Alex. They literally had the most chemistry, and compared to the other couples on this list, they are healthier in comparison. They actually have a better foundation for a potentially healthy couple than the others here do, if you think about it, the only thing derailing that is Alex's cynicism and cold rejection. Gigi at least had enough character development as an emotionally mature woman for their coming together to not feel too inappropriate or downgrading to her arc, or even unsatisfying..

How about Andie and Blane ending up together in "Pretty in Pink"? There are MANY fans who feel Andie should have ended up with her close friend Duckie. That's how the film originally ended, until a test audience convinced John Hughes and others to change the ending. The new ending found Andie ending up with Blane, upsetting a number of the film's dedicated fans.

With Happiest Season I see people saying Abby should had ended up with Riley (Aubrey) and in true it would had been a horrible relationship too, because Riley would had become the rebound and Abby pretty much "friendzoned" her from the start, they had a pretty great friendly dynamic but it was obvious Abby was too much into Harper to even consider Riley.

Seriously this entire video should have been covered with the Alex Meyers Red Flag 🚩 marching band!!!!! As a nearly 50 year old woman who has had a soft spot for Rom-Coms and anything Jane Austin. I honestly think these Gaslighting relationships are teaching toxic "relationship Goals". We wonder why we give up our dreams to fit into a relationship. I was about 35 when my 8 year old talked me into Twilight for her mom day birthday gift and I was confused the entire time but she talked her grandmother into buying her the book as her birthday gift. I ended up reading the entire series plus spin off books. This is a very unhealthy relationship but since I was raised by a toxic mom and ended up on a gaslighting toxic 2nd marriage I think I was sucked into the dream world. Full on Twi-mom but I far more Stan the fan fic relationship of Bella and Alice being far more healthy and even. Now I look at it for the cheese that it is. I disagree, No Strings Attached is so good and I definitely think they have chemistry and cute moments, they're just subtle. Emma clearly really cares for Adam but being closed off and having trouble SHOWING affection is her whole arc....it's not that she doesn't like him. But even from the very beginning when they first reunite and swap numbers, you can tell she's disappointed that he's with (and has) a girlfriend. I also feel like it's just a really cute and refreshing gender role swap since we usually see the leading man being the emotionally distant, hesitant one who has to learn how to love, not the woman. Plus, it fully makes sense that she'd want to keep things simple since she's busy with her residency and still grieving her father. Portman's character was just a classic committment-phobe like so many men in the romance genre, and I don't think a woman showing these characteristics makes her undeserving of love.

How is it possible that "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" is not on this list?!? Those two were the WORST! They lied to each other the whole movie about who they were. They literally don't know each other AT ALL because they were both being fake their entire relationship. What is the basis for them getting together in the end? That film should have been at the top of this list.

Definitely the only problem with Something Borrowed was the “lying and sneaking around”. Not the actual cheating. If they were open about the AFFAIR, then the whole thing would have been forgivable 🤨

speaking of the fifty shades franchise and wishing they paired intimacy with sexual exploration, the korean film "love and leashes" that came out not too long ago i feel does just that so well. with a good balance of comedy and drama to keep you watching. it's also not overtly sexual but still explores the bdsm side of their relationship!

I’ve never seen “From Justin to Kelly” and I assume it’s mostly they can’t act bc if you watched American Idol Season 1, they had amazing actual chemistry. The fact we’re so cute and supportive of each other on the show, it was adorable. Sadly it didn’t seem to transfer well to the movie, but I promise they had amazing chemistry IRL.

It will forever piss me off that Rachel took Dex back after he turned her down when she made her love proclamation in the rain. It would’ve been a powerful message and huge character arc for her to move on from him. She might have stood up to her narcissistic friend but she’s still spineless for keeping someone who hurt her over and over again.

I’m sooo glad gigli was on this list! That movie was one of the worst movies I’d ever watched! The central couple (Lopez & Afleck) were so wrong for each other that they should NEVER have ended up together! If toxic relationship movies are your thing, then you could say it’s a great movie. Since I’m not into those kind of movies, this is one movie where the couple should have gone their separate ways (relationship wise).
