Great top 20! Wasn’t able to grab any of the jjjounds but got the Kith V2s and V3s, both of which are awesome. My fave pair of the year is probably the paperboy 1500s-I just absolutely love the shape and the colour blocking is so good! Special shout out to the UKF 40th anniversary pairs too 😊

This is a great list Sean! Didn't even know pairs like that MJCxPB 991 or the Beams 990v5 even released. My top 5 is mostly v3s which I got for the first time this year and they are amazing. The comfort is truly something else and the understated or muted colorways from Jjjound, Kith and the Teddy line have a grown-up look to them but are still fire. For me its YCMC Nimbus Cloud v3, Jjjound Olive v3, TS Navy v3, Kith Steel Blue v3 and the ALD 991 Grey. I love that Jjjound Montreal CW too making me contemplate painting the midsole on my Jjjound Brown/Black pair from earlier this year lol.

Great list, Sean! For me: the Salehe 990v2s, the Bodega 9060 + 574 collabs (both colorways); the Sage + Arctic Blue JFG 993s, and the 990v6 rounded out some of my top picks for the year. And holy cow, that MJC 991 is AMAZING. I definitely had not seen that all year and it blew me away!

I think my shoe of the year is the 90/60… like all of them. 😄 I know it’s perhaps a bit overly chunky, but I like the visual presence it has plus the chunk results in serious comfort. I also think pretty much every colorway available be it a collaboration or a GR is pretty great.

Great list! I received the 990v2 Sand be the Time for Christmas and I think it might be my favorite NB of the year. I know people were focused on the AMM Jordan 4s and the Jordan 1 L&F but for me the 990v2 is a better shoe and I’m glad I was able to cop.

Nice list. I love the Salahe 992s a lot too. The ALD 650s are on my list. I think they look fantastic. Good to finally see different color blocking on the 550/650 models. I really want to like the 9060. Maybe I'll just buy a pair and get them on feet.

Great list.🔥 Seeing your top 20 and looking at my recent pickups made me realize how wild of a year New Balance had. I have the jjjjound 990v3 Olive, ALD 991s 'grey', JFG 993 'Sage' and a few others. All top sneakers for sure. But the pair that surprised me and has been getting the most wear and love out of all my pairs this year? The 2002R "Mirage Grey". The 2002R is just such an amazing silhouette and incredibly comfortable. Match that with the famous JP colorway and it was a day 1 buy. The fact it's a GR and you can still purchase for retail is just the icing on the cake.

Great list, many pairs in my personal list as well. I had no idea that Paperboy 991 pair even existed, very cool. In my list I also had the UA&S 550s, BSMNT 2002R in white, the N. HOOLYWOOD 1906Rs, and the Teddy v3s in that white with blue accents

The shoe that I missed out on and probably my favourite this year was the Jjjjound 990v3 in olive. I've never got the hype around jjjjound but I've seen them on feet and I have to admit they look dope. YCMC would be a close 2nd for me. EDIT: Just finished the video and glad we agreed Sean!

Out of all the new balances I bought this year the 990v3 Daytonas are my favorite..I don't understand why they don't do more colorways with the suede toe box instead of that mesh that is impossible to clean. Granted suede isn't either but at least the suede looks so good. I'm not mad at the mesh I just wish they did more like the Daytonas.

Great list! I agree for the most part, but I don’t know about those Sense 2002rs… 😮 Here are my top 10 pickups for the year: 1. JJJJound 990v3 Olive 2. Teddy 990v2 (Sea Salt) 3. ALD 991 (Tan) 4. Kith 990v4 5. Protection Pack 2002 “Japan” 6. Salehe 990v2 7. JFG 993 Arctic Blue 8. Teddy 990v2 Marblehead 9. ALD 650 White and Gray 10. ALD 550 Gray Suede I wish I could have gotten those Montreal and YCMC 990v3s and the Paperboy 991s - they would have been in my top 10, maybe even top 5 if I could have grabbed them! I totally slept on the YCMCs, and that’s one of my biggest regrets of the year. I hope to grab the Paperboy 1500s in the near future though…

Bought 12 to 15 NB shoes this year but chose to keep 8 of them. My top 5 NB pickups (mostly resale though) as follows: 1. Jjjound 990v3 olive (found a lightly used pair at close to 40% cheaper of resale price at my size, just had to pull the trigger then) 2. 1906r x thisisneverthat (one of my raffle retail dubs of the year which went straight to toe when received, became one of my most worn shoes of 2022 at festivals and travel) 3. JFG 9060 Penny Cookie Pink (got it for not much over retail, such a gorgeous colorway on a shoe) 4. Teddy Santis 990v2 Sea Salt (An underated shoe imo, the pure white and cream colorway is perfect for my smart casual attire for work. Also one of my most worn shoes of 2022) 5. 1906r x invincible x n.hoolywood (Such an unique pair with contrasting materials on the upper and many lace options, the orange laces is the best of them all imo) The other 3 are the JFG 993 Arctic Blue (keeping on ice for 2023), the 9060 sea salt and 2002r navy protection pack. Overall a great year for NB. Brand of the year!

JFG 9060 (both blue & cookie pink) 4. 9060 Bodega 5. JFG 993 Green & Pink. But once I scoop the Jjjjound off the resale market, it will be #1 on my list! Also looking forward to the CNY 9060 & CNY protection pack 2002r releasing soon.

Oddly enough, NB Lunar New Year pack was the best of the year (even though it was just released). Timeless colorways with a bit of story. Those 2002rs and the 9060s were incredible in hand

United arrows kith was my favorite one in the pack it's a beautiful shoe and colorway, JFG 993 cool pick, sand be the time also very cool because I'm surprised the colorway somehow works, when I didn't see that JJJounds olive I knew it had to be number 1 once I didn't see it.

Great list and great work again man. But you must dislike the 9060 a lot to rank the Bodegas this low. Between the colorblocking, material selection and quality + the story telling and special packaging (box, poster, etc…) they’re definitely a top 5 if not top 3. But your list your taste ;)

For me, It’s easy to say that NB is the brand of the year, they just continue to push boundaries, make great quality and overall bring amazing comfort. I gotta agree with your top 3, prolly have Salehe’s as #3 with JFG’s at #2, YCMC’s are top 5 forsure, I’d either put JFG 9060’s or SSENSE 2002r’s for top 5. It’s very hard for me to pick haha
