A report by Knight Frank released in 2021 estimated that Kenya has a billionaire-count of 42 individuals, placing the country at position four in Africa.
For a good percentage of the tycoons and moguls, however, the journey to the top has not been easy and some started with low paying jobs.

If these politicians were wealthy before they joined politics, then their wealth would be considered legit. Most only became wealthy after joining politics or government at high level. That makes their wealth suspect. In Kenya, If you want a quick way to get wealthy, become a politician. Politics in Kenya is not a calling to serve the people, it is a way to enrich self.
