Tam Dao has been my signature fragrance since I got into fragrances in 2016. I must be on my tenth bottle now and all the people around me recognize me for it. Such a unique, refined, creamy, cozy and versatile fragrance. Very calming as well. Feels like I am in a luxurious Japanese zen temple if that makes any sense.

Don't know if you got to the EDP in this last year of chaos, but if not you'll find the rose a little more prominent and the amber and musk base turned up a notch.

Tam Dao is the only Diptyque perfume I've ever purchased and I never wear it because it's too severe for me. I used to use it for layering. I was surprised to see no Serge Lutens! My go to would probably be Santal Majascule.

Great list! Uomo Noir Absolu does still retain the iris from the Uomo line, so there is bit of floral in it, but it works very well with the sandlewood and adds to the creaminess of the scent.

Cucumber is only added to Hendrick's gin, usually it should be a lime or a lemon! ;-)

Lewis Brown cucumber is often added to G & T’s outside of the US. It just comes with it, especially in Scandinavian countries. There’s also cucumber gin as well. 😋

as a long time bartender and mixologist, I say - wrong, in EU atleast, we use cucumber not only with Hendricks but with wide variety of Gins, also berries, freshly graunded pepper and etc. at some point cucumber was more asked for by customers than lime

Aleksandras L I’m from Europe as well haha. Most commercial gins will have a wedge of lime or lemon as they compliment the botanicals used in the gin. Fancy and expensive gins will use different ingredients that other garnishes might compliment better, hey it’s just like perfume! 😄

Tam Dao I only smell cedar and lime, no sandalwood to be had. I agree that Bois Des Isle not being sandalwood forward as well; it actually just smells like a hair salon to me. Call me crazy but I think Dior Addict has the best sandalwood! Yes there's lots more going on in it too but the sandalwood note in it is very prominent and rich.

Tam Dao was the first niche fragrance I got and I've sold it right away :( I don't know whether it was the chemistry of my skin or my nose but I could smell only soap and 'forest' bathroom spray 😅then I smelled it on someone else passing by (I've recognized it) and it was like a SYMPHONY! Perhaps I will take a sample again now that I know my 'unexperienced' nose sometimes needs more time to fully appreciate some fragrances, or I will let it go

These reviews are some of the best on youtube. HOWEVER and with all do respect...a sandal wood list without Santal 33 is incomplete. It is one of the highest regarded sandalwood fragrance ever created and it doesnt matter if you like it or not. It would be like leaving Aventus off of a Pineapple list.....I dont even think that falls under “my opinion”.

hey sebastian just purchased my 2nd bottle of jovoy. Iwent with pychidelic. got it from FRMODA agian . Used a 10% coupon and paid 106.00 plus 16.00 for postage. I know this is an older video but a great sandalwood is Bodhi Tree by TRNP. It’s stunningly gorgeous and very sandalwood forward. A lot of her blends utilize sandalwood and she does it amazingly.

I am proud to call myself a Patch Ho. Wow Dalya. "Uninhibited" by Cher is a perfume that did the exact same thing to me in the late 80's...scarred me for life. Learning to accept vanilla again...😔 Double Wow for the #1 Sandalwood! I wore Philosykos by Diptyque over ten years ago. I currently have a back up bottle of their Eau de Lierre which I have not opened yet after running out awhile ago. Really like that one. And I have Tempo, also not opened yet and really looking forward to trying it because...Patchouli!! Now I am really curious about Tam Dao. Been aware of its existence but somehow I always glossed over it for some reason. Lime and ginger with sandalwood sounds very spicy and delicious. Thank you for a really good review Dalya. 😎

I too have never had cucumbers in a gin & tonic. Horrors! Great video, you guys; always look forward to a Seb/Dalya feature. And I will seek out that Bruno Acampora pick. When I think "sandalwood", vintage Samsara is the first that comes to mind. I'm sure I left Samsara victims behind in the elevator in the early 2000's. Sandalwood dominates in Stora Skuggan Moonmilk, but there is something discordant in it, at least on my skin. It is interesting though.

Crabtree & Evelyn Mysore Sandalwood = my forever No. 1. Fragonard Santal (vintage) is also spectacular. also Susanne Lang Sandalwood. I go back in time for my sandalwoods but yes, Tam Dao is very, very nice.

Used the top 5 list went out to test and came back with Tam Dao EDP. It's expensive but so worth. But try before you buy as it depends on your skin how long it lasts. (Lasts a stupid 8 hrs on mine, but on others it gets complaints).

About CHANEL Bois des Iles... got to qualify by the vintage. Earlier BDI had more sandalwood in it. Very luscious. Something changed later on and I'm not that taken by it. Would be good to note that about Egoiste, as there was a "dark" period where it was reformulated a bit badly, then bounced back. Latest Egoiste is great, BUT... doesn't have longevity of the original. Same is true of Heritage EDT. Concerning ones not on your list (like Tiffany For Men), you could have gotten samples... instead of bottles. That's a great way to go. Boutiques will often give samples if you ask for them nicely (and discretely--don't come off like you're trying to load up).

Another enjoyable and helpful video! In your video is it the EdT or EdP of Chanel Bois des Iles? I'm with your guest Dalya on Bois des Iles, I find it too soapy (perhaps the iris?) and not enough sandalwood. My favourite is Sonoma Scent Studio Champagne de Bois, which also has aldehydes but I find much more effervescent and richer in the dry down with none of the soapiness (at least on me.) Love Serge Lutens Santal Majuscule, Guerlain Samsara, Tom Ford Santal Blush, and Diptyque Tam Dao EdT, I'm going to look for the EdP now!
