@@RaphaPortoRP well, I'm scared.😱 And I've been hoping for zombie 🧟‍♀️ apocalypse since Covid started. I'm gravely disappointed. 😟🪦 I for one, would have welcomed our rotting overlords.😊 In the late 50s, that original War of the Worlds radio 📻 reading as an emergency news broadcast by Orson Welles had literal panic in the streets with ppl actually fleeing the cities and looting of stores for supplies and that was parts of the whole population. These days we have the most number of information sources ever, plus we are 100 times more cynical so it's unlikely to ever happen again apart from some isolated places and ppl of sub intelligence, or maybe ppl like me that don't care for a giant bug, maybe a hornet😬flying in my face. I'm still hoping for that zombie 🧟‍♂️ apocalypse though.⚰️😉

I was in Queens. I had just gotten to my cubicle, set my coffee down, and heard my whole floor gasp. I didn't see the impact initially, but the replay a few minutes later was a moment I'll never forget. I felt so vulnerable, helpless. I was just out of high school, starting my new job. I cried for the next several months. I knew a girl from my high school, whose older sister was security for WTC. I liked that girl, so my heart broke immediately assuming she had just lost her sister. I was right. We've kept in touch through the years.

Same .. it will always be chilling. It was my 1st year outta high school. Had just come out of the subway, walked the 3 block in Columbus circle to my office to the food cart to place my breakfast order. The bus route manager met me at the cart, looked at me as if he saw a ghost and looked me over (in a fatherly way) & I didn't know why at 1st. He immediately told me what happened and I ran in my office to coworkers standing around the TV (the 1st one had already hit) watching in disbelief. Soon as I laid my eyes on the TV, the 2nd one smacked into the other tower. The relief that washed over faces as ppl started showing up for work/ connecting with loved ones was deeply understood now.... It was surreal to say the least. The plumes of smoke, seeing ppl jump outta windows on TV, walking across the 59th street bridge and NYC comradery to band together to get outta the city & just live/figure out wtf was happening to us in real time will always be etched in my mind. it still make my heart & breath skip to recall the day. I've heard so many, close call stories from that day to last a lifetime. I limited my travels to go to the city for good min after that. If it wasn't in Brooklyn, I wasn't interested. 🤷🏾‍♀️ God bless those who made it and the families of those who didn't 🙏🏾....

I am surprised that Alison Parker and her cameraman didn't make it on this list. That was far scarier than a reporter being buzzed by a bug. I also remember the Loma Prieta earthquake, even though I was only 6 or 7 years old. I was living in the Bay Area and it scarred me for life. Now I can't feel even a little shake without my stomach tightening. One of the most frightening things I've been through in my life.

That's the job for a cub reporter until they get some time on the job. Only young, idealistic, untested reporters do this. If they do it well, then next round of new hires they will gain some seniority and maybe get a job in the studio, sometimes as a copywriter if there aren't any 'face' jobs available or if there is, they may get a 'desk' job. That is the talking head that reads the news, first in the quick 'coming up on tonight's news' advert type slot throughout the day, then the earliest late afternoon anchor position or maybe a weather person. Then working to the coveted prime 6pm news anchor but you can bet all those ppl started out in the hurricanes, getting soaked and having dorks make remarks behind them on live TV😅 I watched the rise specifically of one gorgeous young reporter along these routes until she became one of the hosts of the 3 hour Morning Show. It was interesting, spanning many years. I think I'd prefer being out in the car, seeing interesting but sometimes tragic things. It's not all excitement though. These are the newbies that get a call at 3am to 'get up & go report on the drunken m0ron car crash, dammit!' That part would suck.🫤
@normturner4849
@normturner4849 Жыл бұрын
@@kristinc2379 They're dedicated because they want to get enough seniority to get a studio job and stop being called in at 4am to report on some crap bc some other reporter rostered on, won't answer her phone. Also, don't forget that each 'talking head' has a crew of at least 2: the sound person & camera person. Afterwards, no going back to bed. Gotta go file the story at the station, log your hours (worked), THEN maybe you can go back to bed. Except by then it's 10am & your actual shift as roving reporter is due to start at 2pm - omg it's not worth going home😢 Maybe an hour or two sleep in a dark corner of the studio... 😴 💤( 😆)

The earth "opening up" is more likely to be caused by sinkholes than earthquakes. While super large ones can cause cracks, most of what you see in movies where the ground just rips asunder - well ... is just movies. And if you're not on a fault line directly, you have little chance of a quake opening up the ground under foot.

Fun Lightning Fact: The storm could be 50 miles away and you could still get struck by lightning just by being outdoors. So if there is a storm in your area, even though it's sunny where you currently are - be cautious! And if you suddenly feel extra static, your hair starts to float up with no breeze, or you suddenly feel heavier/lighter than you did moments ago, get low and seek immediate shelter.

The soccer ghost was explained actually. The cameras they used have a rotatable plastic shell encased around them to protect the lenses and in case of situations like this, If debris or damage occurs to the transparent shell, it can rotate to move the obstruction outside the cameras view. This is exactly what happened here because if you simply REMOVE the images behind it. It is nothing more than a blackish grey lump moving from one side.. to the other side.

Nothing about David Horowitz from NBC in Los Angeles being held hostage & forced to read a statement live on air by a guy who came on set and held him at gunpoint (the gun was a toy gun, but still). Is that because the station cut the broadcast as soon as possible or because there's no KZbin video of it? Aug. 20, 1987 - an intruder with a gun, as journalist David Horowitz is taken hostage during a live broadcast of Channel 4 Los Angeles. Horowitz remained calm and read the gunman’s statements on camera, but the station had cut the broadcast unbeknownst to the gunman. The gun turned out to be a toy BB gun and Horowitz then took on the campaign to ban toy guns that look like real guns.

Yea, but I wouldn't say that was exactly "scary"...more like...very hard to watch. Having been someone who has unfortunately seen the footage in question...it's one of those things that you wish you could unsee but can't.

A zombie is a corpse that is resurrected by witchcraft or voodoo. A skeleton is a corpse. So a skeleton that is resurrected is a 100% a zombie, and is in fact more of a zombie than the majority of "zombies" in media today.

#3 the glass moving on the table by itself isn't scary at all, it's a quite common phenomenon, I don't know the name exactly but if the glass has a little water under it it can slide across the table like that, I think because a bit of air is trapped underneath? I don't recall the exact mechanism, but know it has been explained.

When the Loma Prieta earthquake hit I had just gotten off work 70 miles away at Travis Air Force Base. I was headed out the door when the earthquake hit, and when I got out to the parking lot I turned on the San Francisco radio station to listen to the World Series game on my way home, and I heard Al Michaels reporting about what had happened at 3Com. As I listened Al started reporting genuine news about the earthquake.
