I recently lost a close friend I served with in the military. I had been struggling to process everything and came across the episode with Jean-Luc. Chili's line "Sometimes special people come into our lives, stay for a little bit, and then they have to go. But the bit when they were was happy wasn't it?" Sent me into a 2 hour long crying spell but afterwards all I think about are the good/goofy times. Who knew a cartoon dog could help process loss in such a profound way.

It's also good when you think about it in the context of our own lives and deaths, even the death of the universe. To me, it brings to mind the Calvin and Hobbes storyline where Calvin finds an injured baby raccoon that passed away overnight, which then led to him musing a philosophical discussion over life and death. I think I was in middle school at the time when I really got into the strip and that story peaked my interest over the potential of comics.

I really like that one too, and it really resonated with me on a personal level as well, I think it counts as a serious issue, and I think it should have been in the list. It teaches a really important lesson for anyone and everyone about setting boundaries, as well as speaking up and communicating when something or someone makes you uncomfortable. It also reminds me of the dance mode episode, another that should have been on this list, that brought up the difficult topic of being pressured into giving your consent for things even though internally you don’t want to, and how difficult it can be to speak up for yourself in those situations.

It has been confirmed that Chilli did have a miscarriage. Brumm said that he inspired himself on a friend's experience where she would have to find the strength to move on for the sake of the other children that needed her. This may mean that Chilli's miscarriage happened not long ago and is possible the reason behind their decision to not have more kids and focus on raising the ones they already have.

I wonder when Chilli and Bandit had this miscarriage. Before Bluey, after Bingo, or in between.
@NobodyC13
@NobodyC13 10 ай бұрын
@@stephenking5852 There's a lot of subtext going around that Bluey's a rainbow baby. She tends to be associated with rainbows, Chili was extremely fussy with her during early childhood development fearing she wasn't meeting certain milestones in time; during Bingo's galaxy adventure dream, she hatches from Earth (the third planet from the Sun) and passes by a hatched Venus representing Bluey (the second planet from the Sun), Mercury (the first) is intact. The series introduced Chili's sister, who also has fertility problems. There's also the implication that Bandit and Chili are in their early to mid forties, so it probably took years for them to have Bluey.
@stephenking5852
@stephenking5852 10 ай бұрын
@@NobodyC13 what’s a rainbow baby? Also, if it took them such a long time to have any kids, then wouldn’t Bandit’s younger brother, Stripe, been able to have his own kids first? Both Muffin and Socks are younger than Bluey and Bingo. Wait a minute, when you mentioned Chilli’s sister, are you saying her infertility is genetically related to Chili’s struggle to have Bluey?
@megthatcher6905
@megthatcher6905 10 ай бұрын
@@stephenking5852 a rainbow baby is when after a mother suffers a miscarriage, the next pregnancy ends in a healthy living baby. Basically the idea is that after suffering a loss you appreciate what you have even more. And yes some fertility issues can be genetic, but usually they aren’t, it just happens that a lot of women suffer from fertility issues.

It's very subtle but if you look at the background of Mackenzie's flashback, you'll notice that the playground he's in is rather blank and that in the back it looks like he's actually at a shop. This implies that his mom accidentally left him at the store/he got lost in a store isle, and that this is what traumatized him rather than the mixup with the slide. So when he lost sight of her after going through the slide later on, it made him remember that moment. Hence why both events seem mixed together in the flashback. It's a pretty clever visual allegory for your brain processing trauma.

I'm 26, I fell behind at university and watched my friends graduate and get into their careers before me. I also had a back injury that took me out for a few months. It was hard but I eventually recovered, graduated and got a few jobs that I loved. The hardest lesson I had to learn was that nobody takes the same path. You can still make your own path even if you feel like you're late to the game. It's the same for kids. It's their own path that matters, not how they compare to the other kids. As long as they do right by themselves, you and your baby will be great

There are 4 episodes in this show that stick out to me everytime. 1: Early Baby. I have a really best friend who was born prematurely. When we watched this episode, it spoke to the both of us, and it makes me feel so dang lucky to have him. 2: Copycat. My friend had a dog named Gracie. Whenever I was at his place, Gracie would come up to me and be like: "YO WASSUP!?" Sadly, she passed away a long time ago. 3: Army. I have anxiety and ADHD (and quite possibly depression). It's super dang hard for me to do anything (no comment please). Sometimes, I wonder if I have a use for anything at all (again, no comment) 4: The Show. I am the third child in my family with two older sisters and one younger sister. I was originally gonna have a younger brother. But sadly.. he was miscarriaged. It still pains me to this day. I definitely relate to sleepytime more than others. I had some sever separation anxiety from my mom. After a past trauma I experienced I had terrible night terrors and would wake up terrified and sometimes screaming. So I slept with my parents for almost a 2 years. When I was 7 I was determined to be a "big girl" and sleep alone in my bed. It took so many nights because I would panic and shake and end up back with them. One night I actually started sleepwalking and went to my mom's room. She gently nudged me in the right direction and I slept in my own bed. It took awhile but I got there. So I related to bingo so much in that episode I cried the first time. So did my mom too actually.

As an adult with adhd and autism, the episode with Jack made me absolutely bawl my eyes out. But in a good way. What particularly stuck out to me was Jack being scolded by his younger sibling, who asks "Why can't you do what you're told?". I'm the oldest sibling in my family, and I have 2 younger siblings. It hurts a little to admit it, but growing up, I often felt very embarrassed of myself. I felt like I wasn't the type of older sister that I should have been. I wanted to be someone that my sister and brother could look up to, and who they knew they could rely on. But often times, it was them who were having to give me reminders, and tell me how to behave, and take care of me. It hurts being the oldest but feeling like the youngest. And even though there are some milestones I met before my siblings did like graduating from college and moving out. My siblings always seemed to understand instructions before I did, they got jobs before I did, they learned to drive before I did, they started dating before I did, and overall they just seemed to mature at a faster rate than I did. That scene between Jack and his little brother struck something so real for me the first time I saw it, and even now it still makes me tear up a bit every time I rewatch it. I've never seen my own childhood depicted so accurately in a TV show. It was painful, but also a bittersweet reminder of how far I've come. I'm almost 25 now. I have a job and my own apartment and I take care of myself now. And it's ok that it took a little longer for me than it did my siblings. I don't have to blame myself for that or feel ashamed anymore. Because being neurodivergent wasn't my choice. I was just born a little "different". And that's ok.

12:11 The context of the “The Show” episode really supports the miscarriage theory. Before Bingo and Bluey act out their play where the balloon pops Bingo is sad because she thinks she ruins everything after she accidentally dropped Chilli’s Mother’s Day breakfast. Chilli then teaches her to have a cry, pick herself up, dust herself off and keep going. After the balloon popped Bingo is sad for a bit, but then she remembers her mom’s advice and continues with the show.

the line "sometimes special people come into our lives, stay for a little bit, and then they have to go. but the bit when they were was happy wasn't it?" really hits close to home for me. time to write a novel! ever since elementary school (i'm in high school now) i've had issues making friends because they never seem to have the same interests as me. i've also been bullied quite a bit since i'm a fairly short, quiet girl who doesn't stand up for herself much. but one day in 8th grade in the middle of October, i sat next to this talkative guy on the bus. he could tell that i had issues talking to others, so he would ask me some simple questions and i would give short responses. eventually i started opening up to him, which didn't take long, and learned quite a bit about him. we had TONS of similar interests that others would usually find nerdy or weird, and we would ramble for a little while, usually about 15 minutes, until he had to be dropped off. (he even has the same first name as my oldest brother :)) he gave me quite a few things, like this cute cat astronaut sticker which i still have somewhere. we both loved cats too, and would talk about our cats a lot. on the day before halloween, we talked about what characters we were going to dress up as and we hoped to see each other the next day. but that was the last time i ever saw him. he and his little brother (who was in some of my classes) had to move to another place. i'm not sure where, but i still miss him a ton. he was one of the best people i've ever met, and i'm just so happy i had the chance to meet him. if you're reading this, hey bud. hope life is treating you very well ❤❤ edit - early baby is another one of my favorite episodes. i was born premature as well, and it makes me happy to kind of be represented. lol

An episode I would love to see bluey tackle but I highly doubt they will is how to deal with the refusal of forgiveness. It would be a sequel to fairytales where bandit reveals to bluey and bingo, that along with teasing stripe when he was young, he also teased someone else at his old school, but after he was jinx and decided to become a better person, he wanted to apologize to that person only to see that person and his family moved away while he and his family were at the beach house. Bandit wishes he could meet that person again so he can apologize for what he did and with help from chilli, is able to find him. When they arrive at his house bandit is hesitant at first but chilli encourages him to try and make amends with that person. Bandit apologizes to that person but he doesn’t forgive bandit similar to how herb didn’t forgive bojack in bojack horseman (minus the swearing and the reason) saying he always saw bandit as one of the coolest people he ever saw at school, but he also lived by a philosophy his family taught him that bullying isn’t cool, And assumed that bandit would know that but when ever he was humiliated by a former bully, bandit would join other kids in teasing him. Bandit says he didn’t really support what the bully did and only got caught in the moment like everyone else, but the person says he doesn’t care about the bully because bullies are a part of school life and he even made amends with the bully but what he needed back then was someone to stand up for him but bandit joined in with the teasing everyone else was doing to him and claims he’ll never forgive him for that. Bandit leaves saddened and ashamed of himself for what he did but chilli comforts him saying they were just kids when it happened and kids can be mean, and bandit was going to apologize to him, it was only because of bad timing things didn’t go the way he wanted it to happen. Bandit wishes he could have taken it back sooner but bluey says to him if that person was going to hold a grudge between him and bandit for something that happened long ago then he wasn’t worth apologizing to with them saying that despite bandit having a rotten beginning it doesn’t define who he is now. Bingo even shows bandit the lesson she learned on Mother’s Day of how to keep going. Bandit takes comfort in that and says he loves them all and they all have a group hug. The scene changes to stripes house where stripe tells bandit that chilli told them what happen between bandit and that person. Stripe apologizes to bandit for what happened to him and bandit apologizes to stripe for being a mean brother with stripe brushing it off saying that its what brothers usually do with the two making amends showing even though bandit wasn’t forgiving by that person, at least he has closure and has a loving family that care about him to help him through it. I doubt they would do something like this but I think it would be an amazing episode if pulled off right if they did. But that’s just me.

I do not know why *disney* would think pregnancY is off topic, because in the movie *UP* the couple had a miscarriagE which was handled extremely well. I was very touched and impressed on how it was presented as our family member went through it. Our pain was not shared on social media anywhere. She only shared years later that her creator walked her through it and only sang old hymns when she felt sad and her prayers where of thanksgiving of her little family at the time. Fast forward.... She has 3 kids, and one of them was in her late 30's, perfectly healthy even though it was counted as a geriatric pregnancy.

Bluey is a show that does what it's supposed to without ever feeling preachy or condescending to it's audience which is to tell entertaining stories with good morals or lessons behind them. This is made all the more evident a lot of other companies (looking at you Disney) have forgotten that their job is to be entertaining and not force agendas on their audiences.

Another entry that could have easily made the list (but probably didn’t by how recent it is), is Season 3's ‘Stickbird'; in this episode we see Bandit's most vulnerable side, notably distressed and dejected for ambiguous reasons (most fans conclude he was experiencing a variety of a wide selection on issues that brought a massive weight into his shoulders, induced by some unpleasant news [perhaps his scientific article being demoted]). Back to the main point, Bandit accompanies his youngest daughter to play as usual only he is not feeling like himself, Bingo finds a stick in the form of a bird and both decide to manufacture a stickbird (a bird sculpture made of sand); a kid (adorably named Cookie), takes the stick and accidentally destroys their work, to which Bingo responds quite negatively. Surprisingly, it's Bluey who comes to the rescue; following a method her buddy Mia thought her (ASTONISHING detail), consisting on (symbolically) gathering all her negative emotions into a ball and tossing them away, and combining it with her throwing lessons her mum gave her prior by the episode's beginning to morph them into an effective coping mechanism. Just as Chilli did in 'The Show', she passed her knowledge to her sister (and later her dad in an indirect way), helping both to release their sentiments in an allegorical manner, especially Bandit who throws his insecurities far off the distance into the surrounding ocean. This episode has a double meaning; a method on how to cope with distress and insecurities, and how carrying them around is perjudicial and (as a hidden message) a metaphor for how the studio truly feels about how the show in public domain can be morphed and modified by distributors, editors and even the audience since, "when you put something beautiful out into the world, it's no longer yours really”.

TW for minor trauma dump relating to death and loss Space is probably the most relatable for me, both because of the fear of abandonment and because of the processing and working past adverse childhood experiences. I lost a friend to suicide, and I lost one of my grandfathers the night after I had just seen him (he seemed relatively healthy when we hung out, so I was completely caught off guard when I found out the next morning). It's left me with really bad death anxiety, which is a positive in the sense that I always make sure the people in my life know how much I appreciate them, but negative in the sense that if a friend doesn't respond to my text within the time period normal for them, I assume the worst. I also get randomly worried that someone I care about has gotten into a car crash (usually a parent, but also friends driving back from hanging out with me, and sometimes driving to me if they're running late without a heads-up) or died during the night (specifically my three remaining grandparents and elderly dog that I've had for over half of my life (I'm 24)).
