"Kill you no matter what" Almost all of them: don't kill you no matter what, usually can be ignored, or even in some cases can be defeated and are not scripted to be invulnerable/*defeat* you no matter what.

I mean, I think they lost the idea of the list after a while. I was expecting 20 bosses that are scripted to kill you no matter what. Not 8 that do that, and 12 enemies that you’re supposed to run away from in the game because you can’t kill them. Genichiro, Vile, that is what this list was supposed to be about right? Not the Great Serpent, where you have to sneak around it until you can kill it. Not Mr. X where you’re supposed to avoid him until the end of the game.

Clarification: While your character is "Killed", you are still alive after the fight. Your first encounter with Gades, the Sinistral of Destruction in Lufia and the Fortress of Doom ends with you defeated in a single hit when Lufia runs back to support you, Gades retreats. Even if you use a cheat device, Gades is unkillable in this encounter and you NEED to be "defeated" in 1 or more of the other games (namely Lufia the Legend Returns) you are actually able to defeat Gades in your first encounter if you cheat or do a LOT of power leveling before facing him. He even has some unique drops that will help you for a while before they are upgraded.

It was not as well known as these games but Neverwinter nights Hordes of the Underdark also had a boss that straight up kills you and sends you to Heck at the end of the second act. You spend the third act literally fighting your way out of heck to face the final boss again and frankly no matter how well you have prepared for it, it is not an easy battle.

Just finished playing the original God of War trilogy for the first time, and even though I knew what was coming in the beginning of God of War II, I was still hoping I could defeat him, for some reason. Beating him in the second game and bashing his face in and then killing him in the third game were just so satisfying. In the third game, he and Hades were the bosses I had the most difficulty with, interestingly enough.

I have one from a mobile game called Johnny Trigger. At level 120 (and it repeats later, but not at regular intervals, the exact same setup), when you enter the level, the boss shoots a volley of shots at you. Your character makes his first jump onto the ramp there, and the boss can shoot you there, and you haven't had a chance to shoot at him yet! I did find a way to beat this however, tap the screen as your character lands, and you survive...

Only eight of these bosses are bosses that kill you no matter what while the other 12 are bosses that you have to run away. The SA-X for example is a boss that you can’t fight until later on in the game as you have to run away from it. The SA-X will not always kill you, but it will do huge damage to your Energy Tanks, but unless you keep ahead of it and keep freezing it with the Ice Missiles, you can get away.

Yeah, no. Capcom had mr. x as a MINOR character in the original RE2 and mastered the concept with nemesis. The popularity of nemesis is what gave way to the bigger role of mr. x in the remake. Nemesis is absolutely the granddaddy of unstoppable characters in the RE universe.

If you fail to find the Scroll of Return (in an area previously covered by the Wall of Ra) and leave the domain before the cutscene where he slays the Hierophant, you lose your only chance
