Rebecca, In the UK, we have a soda (UK word: pop) called, Pussy - in some supermarkets and independent shops, the cans are labelled as "P***y" and uncensored in other stores (even though the logo is an outline of a cat's head. Yes, every so often a controversy erupts over an R-rated movie having licensed children’s toys based on characters in the film it it all seems one selective in what R-rated films cause outrage. Many R-rated films get licensed children’s toys without much controversy. I think in his case the fact that the Alina franchise is a horror series plays a role though Freddie Krueger blade gloves and Jason Vorhees hockey masks have been kids Halloween costume staples for along time so even R-rated horror films get a pass sometimes too. Come on oral guardians, have some consistency as to what you object to when It comes toys based on R-rated movie characters other elements.

Mr. Ed's Sausage, sold in south Louisiana. My husband and I worked for LSU in the early '90's, and always saw that product in the grocery stores. I did some investigating, and found that the company really had been founded by a man named Ed. In the south, it is good maners to address older adults as Mr. or Miss, followed by their first name. Thus, this product name. We never bought it. I knew there was no horse in there, but I couldn't stop picturing a talking Palomino in the sausage factory.

When I went to high school in Denmark, one of my teachers told an amusing story. The queen of England came to Copenhagen on a visit and toured the Tuborg brewery. Someone who was familiar with English decided to cover some of the elevator signage at the brewery to avoid embarrassing the poor girl. When you pushed a button to summon the elevator, a sign would light up to let you know the elevator was in transit. The Danish expression for "in transit" is "i fart".

When researching the #1 on this list to see if it was an actual product I highly recommend searching by the product name Rexona instead of pussy wind. Mistakes were surely made.

I think they pronounce things different since it's a German product
@c.w.82003 жыл бұрын
They were obviously trying to come up with a cool sounding name in English, there is nothing German about this, just Germans trying to sound cool and ending up with something embarrassing, it's common these days. English words sneak into the German language, mostly used by idiots.

When I heard that tagline, I had the same thought.

I have a brilliant one in my tape archive, which I should try and digitise. When I worked in an ad agency in London I had to make showreels of all the TV ads they made for companies all over the world. Some products were really bizarre, but the weirdest one I came across was for something called Shito Mix, which is basically a savoury sauce powder popular in some African countries. Unfortunately it looks every bit like it sounds, and I could not with a straight face dub those adverts with the sloppy brown liquid with the tagline "so tasty, so thick" as it oozed into a dish!!

We have a Pho King here in San Diego. Since most people mispronounce pho (fuh) as pho (fo) I think a lot of the public doesn't notice.
