I recently updated my editing software, so welcome to a new era of fewer pixelated images and less ghosting! In the previous versions, when I would shrink certain images they would get kinda pixel-y and bad, so hopefully this video will look noticeably more crisp and shiny. Let me know if you do see a difference with the visuals. (Ironically, I was dealing with an episode with some of the most smudgy screencaps, lol. Maybe I need to buy a new Season 7 DVD.)

I said it before and I'll say it again. Do the video on picking the best segments from each non-treehouse of horror anthology segment. Here's how I may actually do it Instead of a top 10 or 20 list, you'll review each non-treehouse of horror anthology episode and its segments and "pick" the greatest segment in that episode. So, e.g. Season 8: The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase. My favorite segment of that one is the Chief Wiggum segment. Then move to the next one, review all three segments, pick the best one and repeat until you get to the latest one at the time. (Season 32: Now Museum, Now You Don't) You can count short 1-minute segments like Homer as King Solomon but I would recommend not to count those short segments and only count the three main ones.

I think it’s crazy that Steamed Hams is so perfectly written that, even having seen it meme’d to death, it’s still legitimately still super funny to me. It’s just the perfect comedy set up, and perfectly cast with Chalmers and Skinner. I love how unnecessarily perceptive and confrontational Chalmers is the entire time, while Skinner just keeps snowballing the most pointless lie ever. The Aurora Borealis bit genuinely is lightning in a bottle, I have no idea how anyone even came up with that. ‘Aurora Borealis?? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized ENTIRELY within your kitchen?!’ ‘Yes!’ ‘…may I see it?’ ‘…no.’

I will say, I think Eddies one line in the Burger Scene is all he needs. His simple reply of "shakes!? don't know what you're gettin'" is somehow incredibly funny to me - it adds to the silly dialogue, but also keeps true to Eddies character of not talking much.

I was always confused by Lisa's bald spot. If her skin is yellow, how is the bald spot white? It makes it look like her whole body is covered in fur, and would also have white skin underneath if you shaved it off... Even as a child that made no sense to me (nor did the lack or hairline, her and Bart just have spiky heads).
@PanAndScanBuddy

There’s a whole hamburger theme going on throughout the episode between the steamed hams skit, the mcdonalds vs krusty burger dialog, the hamburglar coloring book, the krusty burger ad, and even the squirting of condiments onto traffic. You can even see the police car parked outside the krusty burger in the steamed hams skit. I’m surprised that the medical board vs dr nick scene was lost on you. The beginning wasn’t even that long. It was meant to be mundane as a setup for the joke to show how flawed and easily swayed people in those positions can be. Does anyone else know that the original trailer for this episode included a scene featuring ralph annoying krusty on an airplane that was ultimately cut from the episode. This really bugged me back in the day because I could not find the scene in the episode even though it was a heavy highlight in the trailer.

I like Steamed Hams and you said why, it does everything that the other clips did but better and the damn thing was so good that it became a meme everywhere! ...that does mean it was good right? D: now, the Burns and Smithers one, may be a language bias, but i love the latin american dub of it, how Burns expresses his annoyance at Smithers and how he insults him to keep the bike going are just CLASSICS and sometimes i do use Burns' insults in daily life! And keeping with the language bias thing, Dr. Nick (or Doctor Sables as we called him on that episode) KILLS it here, with his medical lingo bullshiting, it's so damn funny! And finally, the tall dude and Nelson is funny too, I can do the voice of the tall man in the latin american dub and my friends always laugh at how i can recite the entire scene from memory

8:14 I was born and currently live in a latin american country so my perspective on this is different I guess. the oranges have never been a highlight for me, mainly because back when this chapter was new, reruns of "el chavo del ocho" and other comedies that heavily used physical comedy were still overwhelming our air time (also I guess you also know that bumblebee man is a parody of another character created by the creator of "el chavo del ocho", "el chapulín colorado"). What always made me laugh out loud was the final part, with the wife asking for a divorce with a document that simply says "El Divorcio" (instead of, IDK proceedings for a divorce or something) written in cursive and with what appears to be an inkpen. it was always so bizarre to think that americans see us like that. Stuck like a century in the past. And the chihuahua doing what chihuahuas do, just barking when they are the least needed

I think the lisa story is pretty important to the structure of episode. It helps to make the episode feel like you're seeing a day in springfield from different perspectives, and not just a bunch of little shorts. Those random characters had to help because you knew everyone else was busy.

Steamed Hams has to be number 1, but i live everything with Nelson and the Very Tall Man. In a format bending episode, it almost feels like this is the segment that most threatens to break the reality if the show, that the Very Tall Man is almost this sort of spectre of a man who refuses to laugh along and who will respond to the cartoony antics around him with righteous indignation. He is the Lester, Eliza, and Frank Grimes to Nelson.

I like even just from his irritated note-by-note lecture at Nelson it's clear he has been through this crap over and over, that he is a very serious frustrated person stuck in a hiliariously lanky body with a goofy voice and driving a pitifullly missized car because he can't afford anything of greater dignity, and one 'Hah Hah!' was the absolutely final straw for him. Forget Ol' Grimey, this guy could be Nelson's Sideshow Bob. :P

The Gum trilogy may not be the most exciting, but I love Marge's response. Lisa: "MOM!!! Someone threw gum in my hair." Marge: "Are you sure? Maybe it's just shampoo. That washes right out." I do not know why it tickles me so. But the thought of someone squirting their shampoo into a trash can is just funny. The absurdity of even thinking it may be shampoo is just hilarious to me.

The thing about the Pulp Fiction parody with Wiggum’s story is it still works without having seen the movie. I’m sure I’m not the only one who grew up with the episode and I always enjoyed these scenes. When I eventually saw the film as a teen, the segment obviously becomes much funnier because you get the spot-on references but also much darker because of what it implies about Herman. Do you think they ever considered including a gimp in the segment?

What makes me laugh out loud while watching this segment is how the Bumblebee man is shouting poorly-translated Spanish as his house falls apart, such as "Naranjas en la cabeza!" (oranges on the head!), "una candelabra precariosa!" (a precarious chandelier!) and of course, "¿Donde esta mi tequila?" (Where is my tequila?)

As an Spanish-speaker who grew up with the Simpsons' Neutral Spanish dub I was amused when I saw the original version, with all the broken Spanish. I saw in a video made by Max Power, a Simpson-focused KZbinr from Colombia, that the Spanish was written by a member from the show's staff that was of Hispanic descent but she knew very little of actual Spanish, so you had things like "Woodpeckero" which was changed in the Spanish dub as the correct "Pájaro carpintero". I always thought the sketch was more of a direct parody to Roberto Bolaños' shows like El Chapulín Colorado, but as someone who grew up watching things like El Chavo del 8, the slapstick wasn't as extreme as in the Bumblebee Man sequence
@pablocasas5906
@pablocasas5906 9 ай бұрын
@@MandrakeHorse weirdly enough, the Mexican dub corrected all of the dialogue, but the "naranjas en la cabeza" and "¿Dónde está mi tequila?" were kept intact. The part with the chandelier was corrected to, "Este candelabro es frágil", a much more accurate thing to say in Spanish

So if I'm being honest, the Professor Frink segment had me laughing so hard the first time I saw it that I missed the first 5 minutes of the next show. THAT kind of laughter. Looking back though, I would have to put Cletus in the top spot. It's like "Who's on first" - comedically perfect.

Moes reaction to Snake just simply hopping the bar and grabbing the cash out of the register kills me because like. I'm shocked given how much repeat the Simpsons have done in plots, they've only technically done two other multi-pov stories that all connect in Trilogy of Error and that one in the cave. Unless I'm missing some others. I'm surprised during the second Al Jean era they didn't do 22 more films on Springfield.

The first time I saw Pulp Fiction it was at a movie club screening, and I recall laughing so much it made my throat hurt. But I didn't laugh just because of the movie and its dark humour, it was because I finally understood what the Simpsons were referencing! Kinda dissapointed a kid with a maze didn't show up to save Marcellus, but still a great film.
