Thanks for this, there's a few I don't know on there. Gives me some bands to check out. It's nice to see Leaves Eyes on the list, I almost never hear anyone mention them. Not sure I agree with the order though - I mean, how can Simone be below Xandria and Within Temptation (don't get me wrong, I love them both too, just not as much as Epica). But hey, personal preference is a thing right? I'd say Floor and Simone are easily the top 2. And I guess I can forgive you for putting Tarja on top, she'd be my #3. I like that you picked one of her newer songs instead of a Nightwish one for her, even if Fantasmic is forever going to be my favorite that she's sung. That might just be nostalgia though - that was the first song by a symphonic metal band that I ever heard, and boy did it change my preferences in music!

Personally I do agree with him in most of his decisions..., Tarja is the best and he is right too about Sharon, she deserves the second spot... with her angelic voice, I could listen to her sing forever... I never felt that while listening to Floor Jansen But he messed about 3 things in particular : * He forgot about Anneke van Giersbergen * Anna Van Giersbergen deserves a better rank * And his biggest mistake is Simone Simons , for God sake, how the hell is Simone Simons in the 13th?? Floor is a better singer. But Sharon is a better musician. Floor can't stand music industry on her own. She is well known just because of Nightwish. Sharon, on the contrary, is a really good song writer, lyricist and costume designer. She has unique, angelic voice in which nobody can imitate. Last but not least, she has unique dance too.

In case you don't know, she had two previous band before nightwish, also she toured around the world with Afterforever and Revamp, she did a lot of partership in music with a lot of musicians and different projects beside her bands, on the other hand, we actually could say that Tarja is well known and got all success she has only because Nightwish.

Agreed that is a tough choice. I would personally put Floor just a touch ahead as I like her overall versatility and style. Tarja is amazing and super talented but I have never been as big a fan of the Bel Canto style. Still love almost all her stuff though. Also why could he not at least mention that both are singers of Nightwish? Most casual metal fans will know them better from than that than the their other stuff.

Sharon sings exceptionally in the high pitches and this without much training - she is an absolute natural talent, Floor has an incredibly strong, wonderful voice with a large range, no doubt - but I have never cried when listening to either of them - unlike Dianne van Gierbergen and especially with Tarja Turunen - tears are running down my face and that makes the big difference - there is no one in the world who can convey emotions with her voice like Tarja!

Well, there is talent vs. enjoyment level so this list isn’t all that bad but enjoyment level is more important to me because they are all good. I enjoy Epica a lot but a little too much growling. Love Sharon she is a great singer and makes better songs than most of these and I like Jennifer Haben very much and really enjoy Beyond the Black but she doesn’t hit these notes so doesn’t make many of these lists. I loved all three Nightwish so much that I couldn’t care less of the order.

@@ChristianSander1969 OK no, you're wrong on many levels. Opinion is one thing; we all have one of those. Firstly Tarja is objectively a fantastic singer and would be on the list anyway. You have it backwards; Nightwish likely wouldn't be known, at least not as we know them, if she wasn't their singer. They were originally going to be a folk metal band but because of her ability they changed their style. Secondly, Floor cannot sing certain songs as well as Tarja. If you can't hear that then you're just not listening. They sing them differently, yes, but that's because their basic styles are different. And if you think Tarja can only sing one way then again that shows you don't pay attention. Plus your description of her style as slow, off pitch, is totally wrong! Yet again, you don't pay attention. You heard a part of one song (probably Bless the child from End of an era) and you used that to back up your prejudged conclusion. Try again after you've actually paid attention.
