X2 still tops my list of bucket list attractions. Looks a bit rattly but also kind of adds to the whole intimidating “mood” it gives off.

My first time on X2 it was really disorienting but then its fun all round. Don’t ride it on the weekend unless you want to wait 2 hours

appreciate the love for giant dipper at scbb. i dont see it talked about a lot in classic coaster conversations tbh. it definitely doesnt top my list with twisted colossus or tatsu, but its one of my favorite coasters in the state to travel to and just marathon all day

The Giant Dipper is one of my favorites of all time despite the roughness it will always stay in my heart as one of the best roller coasters ever.

I’ll never understand the hate Silver Bullet receives around the community. even though first drop is super shallow, you still get a nice pull towards the back of the train. and the wave turn, zero-g roll, and finale are amazing in my opinion. seeing it place behind rides like Scream just hurt my heart lol

It's that people expect huge forces from B&M inverts so the "park tour" style roller coaster isn't appreciated as much. I really think if people didn't expect B&M invert forces and appreciated Silver Bullet for it's great pacing, flow, interaction with the park, and unique elements it would be ranked higher. Overall agreed with you 100%, it's a very underrated attraction.

Currently my favorite coaster in California is Ghostrider at KBF. It might end up being X2, but I got one ride on X2 in the second to back row on the flashpass side, and I thought it was lackluster, but I hope I can get back to the park some day and experience it in all its glory.

My top 5 in California has to be: Twisted Colossus Ghostrider X2 Full Throttle Xcelerator I didn’t get to ride Tatsu as it was closed for the repaint when I visited, same with Hangtime. Didn’t include Railblazer because I prefer Stunt Pilot tbh, and Goldstriker is close with X2 imo, both are super rough for me but are so intense and memorable. Unique list btw, I’m surprised WCR is above Superman at discovery kingdom but am pleased Viper made it, that was the most surprising coaster to me on my SoCal trip.

X2 is Hands down the best coaster I’ve been on! This coaster hits everything for me, speed, smoothness, vertical drop, loops and the entire time it messes with your head cause you don’t know what’s going to happen next.. I absolutely love the feeling of riding backwards up the initial drop. It’s pretty cool cause you get a really cool perspective of magic mountain; then you hit the top and begin the drop which feels insane as you’re dropping pretty much straight down while being upside down too! You have to experience this ride to know where I’m coming from.. when you know, you KNOW!! X2 is my #1 and then tatsu my #2: I completely understand why you have so many coasters from Magic mountain on this list, they have so many to offer and they’re all fun!

Same top 5 , but in different order for me. I like airtime more than other elements, but I can see how X2 would top the list. It's just a crazy good ride. 1. Twisted Colossus 2. GhostRider 3. Gold Striker 4. RailBlazer 5. X2

My top Eight: 1: Ghostrider; 2: Twisted Colossus; 3 X2; 4: Riddler's Revenge; 5: Railblazer; 6: The Joker, 7: Tatsu, 8: Xcelerator (I've ridden all of those except Railblazer and The Joker).

Really nice ranking and I definitely need to reride certain coasters such as Batman, Gold Striker, and Apocalypse because I wasn’t impressed with my last rides on those coasters. Solid list. I've only been to CGA once in Sep 2019 and got 7 rides on GoldStriker that day. 5 of them were mind blowing. 2 rides felt like I was sitting on square wheels and it was jackhammering like crazy. I don't know if they have a few dud cars with square wheels, but the differences were night and day. Currently my favourite GCI above Mystic Timbers, assuming GhostRider is a CCI and not GCI of course.

Rides like Indiana Jones at Disneyland and The Mummy at Universal Studios are definitely slept on because they aren't traditional Rollercoasters. Good call out

@@marty_nz it was jackhammering bad when it ran fast back in 2019. the park put a bunch of work into the track this year and while i can't say its glass smooth its no longer jack hammering even when its running fast now so its improved quite a lot.

@@DwayneMaxwell yeah it was really strange. I've never experienced such differences in ride quality within the same day on the same ride before. I wish I took note of which train I was on to compare if it was only one train being rough. The non jackhammer rides weren't smooth, but they were lively which made it so amazing.

California Screamin' used to be my favorite roller coaster ever until it became The Incredicoaster. I enjoyed the original soundtrack and Neil Patrick Harriss' countdown ten times more than Dash's countdown and the new soundtrack which is actually a bit annoying with all the random commentary heard throughout the ride. Sure it has some special effects added to it but that's not enough for me to vhange my opinion that this ride is not as incredible as its name suggests.

I have to admit, Superman EFK backwards launch may be on my top 5 at the park. It adds so much more suspense than Forwards and gives you a fantastic view and great airtime.

I've been to Discovery Kingdom 4 times between 1998 and 2013 and everytime Vertical Velocity was closed. I think it's just there for decoration. I wouldn't put Gold Striker above Tatsu but it is a great wooden rollercoaster. I also think Grizzley is better than Giant Dipper. Ironically even though it's older, Flight Deck is better than Batman. Batman has more twists and turns but the elevation and open air feel of Flight Deck imo makes it a better Ride. However it's not as fun as it used to be since it's no longer Top Gun. The Top Gun theme the ride had back when Paramount owned Great Americe really added on to the experience.

“Undeniably the best U.S. state for roller coasters”? It’s certainly a reasonable pick, but it’s definitely “deniable” - i.e., debatable. I grew up up CA, love the state dearly, and have been on all its major coasters, but I’d go with Pennsylvania as having the best coaster collection. Many others would say Florida or Ohio. Maybe I’m just treating your turn of phrase too literally, but just throwing out my two cents there.

My top 25 California coasters is sadly the same as my current top 25 because of the giant coaster desert that is the rest of the west, but here's the ones that would make my list from each park: Magic Mountain: Twisted Colossus, X2, Tatsu, Apocalypse, West Coast Racers, Full Throttle, Batman, Riddler's Revenge Knott's: Ghostrider, Xcelerator, Hang Time, Silver Bullet Discovery Kingdom: Joker, Medusa, Superman: Ultimate Flight Great America: Railblazer, Gold Striker, Flight Deck SeaWorld: Manta, Emperor Disneyland/DCA: Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Matterhorn, Incredicoaster Santa Cruz Boardwalk: Giant Dipper Top 5 overall is Ghostrider, Twisted Colossus, Xcelerator, Joker, and Railblazer (spoiled cali thoosie be like "x2 is too rough"... it's still my #6) The Disney coasters may not have the craziest forces but they're so well themed that you just can't help but have a great time on them.

I agree the Viper is underrated. There is some roughness, but it doesn’t take too much from the ride experience. Full Throttle is pretty solid, but I agree that Six Flags should’ve tend the layout a little more.

Six Flags, but I don't think it's as big of a long shot as some others. Knotts has the better wooden coaster and the best launch coaster between the two parks. Also, between the two of them, Knotts has the only spinning coaster and the only dive coaster. That being said, I'll admit the top three coasters at Six Flags are probably better than anything Knotts has to offer, so yeah Six Flags for thrill, but don't sell Knott's short, it's a great thrill park as well as a family park.

i rode on batman and i was incredibly disappointed, although it is fast, i found it in credibly jerky and rough which didn’t make it an enjoyable experience. not to mention all my friends and i had neck and back pain for the next hour at six flags LMAO

I'm gonna be honest, i think it's pretty deniable that California is the best state for roller coasters - and I'm a Californian! Ohio has Cedar Point and King's Island! Florida has a million parks!

Deniable, I agree. but when you put thought into it, I think it’s the clear winner. Ohio may have Cp and Ki but quantity is a factor too. Florida may has a million parks but most are theme parks with little and in some cases, no substantial coasters.
