Chopin's music really touches the human soul because he suffered in life, and in his suffering he wrote music of passion and angst. Unlike Mozart who had opulence handed to him on a plate, and was probably poisoned by a jealous husband.

I was once a cowboy/country boy. I felt those long haired (yes, it was that long ago!) guys were something to look down on. Then I went to Ricks College and took humanities from Ruth Barras. She changed my life. We had to listen to some of these classics. Once I listened to a Nocturn (probably from Chopin), and I felt the night. A few years later when I had a cassette player I got some classical pieces. I was depressed one day and had pulled over. Beethoven's 7th was playing. It was the 3rd movement. By the time it was over the depression was gone. Thank you Ruth Barras, thank you Beethoven, and thank all you great musicians! They've all passed on but they know when we listen to them. Thank you people for putting this on.

Mozart is lighthearted and refined, Liszt is a fast passing composer, a vituoso that will strain any normal pianist, Beethoven is a bit more serious and down to Earth, Chopin is more cynical, but romantic and he usually plays around with the black keys, giving an etherial tone to his music.

I read once the only reason why cartoons introduced a whole generation to classical music was because they were too cheap to pay for music and classical was too old for royalties. they used the free music and made it work.

@@carlospacheco7361 no not really.. cuz nobody beats Chopin.. at least on piano.. his pieces are so emotionally seeping that one never stays completely cool.. the prelude in e-minor is so heart wrenching and brinkless grief evoking that nothing from both B's can ever compare..
@carlospacheco73615 ай бұрын
@@lexsmith8689 I think you are driven by your personal taste and not really the geniuses of the composers. the prelude is great indeed, but can easily be compared to the Moonlight sonata, yet Chopin does not have anything remotely close to the 3rd, 5th, 7th or 9th symphonies, or those organ works that make the piano look like a baby.

That's what I'm wondering too, rating the popularity just based on views on KZbin isn't fair. That one was very popular, werid to be not on the list.

My favorite Classical musician is Mozart, but I also like Beethoven, as Für Elise, and Tchaikovsky as The Swan Lake and The Nutcracker! There's also some Strauss in my mind, as The Blue Danube.
