I just taught Gaia Project to friends and they loved it; also played Age of Innovation again recently and I am so stoked to play both more. GP is still among my top 10 games; I like how Age of Innovation blends TM and GP and provides customization for the terrain and faction.

Only just started to get myself into the TM world, and Terra Nova is definitely a good way to start. Saving this video for when I move to Melbourne...

I love the theme in terra mystica and prefer the mechanics of Gaia project....and I feel it is better for 2 player, which is most of my plays. Thank you for another great video!

He's speaking my language. I have been interested in Terra Mystica and Gaia Project for years now. Then I discovered Age of Innovation, which sounds even better than Terra Mystica for me. So I'm probably going to get both of those if I can catch a sale in the future.

While AoI looks good, IMO modular faction design limits design. We wouldn't see anything like F&I expansion races with AoI system.

Thanks for the great video ! I also personnaly love Age of Innovation and would like to mention the solo mode which is really fun to play with a lot of variability as well on top of all the other possible combinations (different automa races with special powers, difficulty level, terrains ,..). Probably one of my best games for solo! I had also Gaia Project in the past but found a litle bit harder to manage in solo. Don't know why because the system is quite similar, so maybe just a question of personal taste. Do any one of you feel the same?

Thank you! Derek: "The AI made in AoI is very fleshed out and customisable, and easy to manage. It's probably the best implementation of the Automa."

A big seller for Age of Innovation is that it plays well with 2 compared with Terra Mystica.

It's interesting that so many videos and reviews of this games talk about the variability of starting abilities at the beginning of the game and falsely equating that to replayability and then further equating that to game quality. Chess is infinitely replayable and has no starting setup variability, regardless of whether you find it a fun game or not. With people owning very large game collections and board game reviewers recommending hundreds of games each year, how many times does the average board gamer *actually* play each of the games in their collection? This, kickstarter trends and day 1 expansion content are 3 parts of the board gaming culture that are really negatively affecting the hobby imo.

Which one is better at 2? Aol or GP?

Derek: I personally think there's not much difference between the games for 2p - they're both good, but still not as great as at 4p.
