Also the first album got influences from much metal so it turned to be like their most metal album. But also their first album is influenced by bands like Blue Öyster Cult that ain't metal. So my point is that Ghost never supposed to stand out as a metal band.

Ghost isn't a metal band? You can have music that is inspired by or sound like metal in some songs but aren't. They are their own thing, ghost in a genre defining band that wants to take church music and make it sound dark. This being said, they have done wonders for the modern metal scene and are an amazing band regardless.

As a Ghost fan. I always see them as hard rock. The first album albums is doomy and metal. Meliora has some element in Cirice and Mommy Dust. I not say pop because they sing clean. I guess that is why every gatekeeper cries. "Oh no! No growls, it must be pop"

I would consider them pop hard rock. They focus alot more of melodic hooks more than riff based music. They do have great guitar, but the vocal melody drives most of their songs. I say this as a Ghost fan, I also don't consider pop a dirty word though. I think we conflate pop with corporate slop. Corporate slop just tends to focus on pop. Electric Callboy taught me to apriciate pop and screaming.

One Desert Island disk is Wolverine Blues, by Entrombed, the Godfathers of Swedish Death Metal. Fans call this "Death And Roll," because it;s a great departure from the Death Metal sound they established with Left Hand Path, a disk some rate more highly. Drummer Nick Royal went on to found the greatest Rock n Roll band on Earth, The Hellacopters. Check out their early, rawest work. Other standout bands include the OG bands who created the Gothenburg Sound: At The Gates and The Haunted (the Revolver album is my favorites. Also Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth (Viking Metal), and Dark Tranquility. The Black Dalia Murder are a favorite American band, who were inspired by At The Gates. Check out their first three albums.

Ghost never was meant to be "Heavy Metal". Forge described his band to be a 70's Rock band. With influences like Blue Oyster Cult, Sabbath and Prog Rock. They're like Sabbath and ABBA had a love child. Tobias is a genius. Five Finger Fruit Punch is a joke and Zeppelin never described themselves as Heavy Metal. Don't know how the hell that got in the mix.
