True. Very recently visited my native after many years, my cousin brother told the he saw Gram Devi walking in night will full her traditional dress with stick in hand. He along with other cousin went silently without disturbing her. Because if you do anything over smartness, than has to face consequences. My Paternal Uncle & other cousin did over smartness by going behind and next both were started suffering with diarrhea. Same my dad too said when he was in Teens and coming from late night movie during Dussehra time and Gram Devi was coming front, he immediately pulled him down from cycle and went into hiding in bush. Waited till she passes away. During Dussehra time, most of Gram Devi go roaming whole village.

​@@hakimdiwan5101about 10 years ago, I was invited to kola by my then colleague, the kola was performed by bringing in the "devil" to scare away the bad spritis in their home. What I witnessed then was a similar experience that the narrator quotes on how that king feels in the beginning of the movie, he says "when the king sees demigod, he felt mother's love or his uncle's care" What I felt was something similar during Kola. I literally told him after the event, "though the performer was dressed & danced like a devil, it didn't feel like I was seeing a devil, it felt like a good devil, or a team mate" Rituals like these are performed across South India in different forms, therefore people from the south can relate their experiences so much to this movie. Even though everyone may not have witnessed it first hand, most of them have atleast heard about 'demigod dance'
