Most weight loss and metabolic health interventions focus on calories and macronutrients-how much food you eat in general and what percentage of those calories come from protein, fat, and carbohydrate. But, while calories and macronutrients are certainly important, they aren’t the whole story.
Micronutrients are also important. These vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients play essential roles in metabolism and studies have shown that deficiencies of any of them can lead to weight gain and metabolic problems.
In this video, I share the top three nutrients for promoting metabolic health, and give you some tips for ensuring you’re getting enough of them.

Thanks Chris, I don't think a lot of people realize how depleted our soils have become (and don't get me started on glyphosate!). When I asked my doctor years ago what supplements I needed he said "none-you get everything you need through a healthy diet". Now I knew that my diet was not all that healthy so I did quite a bit of research and found what I needed and the correct forms to be well absorbed. I really appreciate your efforts to help us all stay healthy!

Excellent information. We do need to make sure to consider cause and effect. Many believe that low vitamin levels are found in obese patients because fat cells take up vitamin D. Meaning that the obesity causes the low vitamin D and not the other way around.

How accurate is the magnesium information in the Nutrition Coordinating Center Food & Nutrient Database? Does it reflect the decline in magnesium levels in foods?
