I’ve been streaming nearly 4 years now and I chose to turn raids off over a year ago. Here’s my perspective on how raids can cause streamer drama, but I’d really love to hear YOUR perspective so please let me know your experience in the comments. Thanks for watching!

Not a streamer, but as a viewer, raids seem to bring more trouble than they’re worth. Sure, you could end up meeting some new people you really bond with, but at the cost of the potential drama you mentioned? Yikes 😬 (this is of course just my opinion and perspective, not meant to be a harsh comment!)

In all truth, i just raid into those i think are cool, i never expect anything and the raids i would get are nice, but overall it doesn't do anything for me 😂 i didn't know people were like that though, maybe it's just my naivety coming into play here cause i try to just be myself and be friendly. I guess it also helps that i just stream for fun than for money, but i guess everyone has different priorities and whatnot

A lot of your outlook seems based on personal experiences, which has had a negative outlook on raids for you... Which is disappointing. 😔 I tried raiding you one time, as I only raid family-friendly creators whose content I appreciate, but was saddened to realize they were turned off. Shouting you out isn't enough, it doesn't "get people there" as easily. I wanted my people to know first hand how good your streams are, by showing them firsthand, but I couldn't. You'll find drama everywhere about anything, and it's your decision whether to let the noise impact your decisions as a creator. I hope one day you can open yourself up to the net positive benefit of raids from people who ACTUALLY want to connect with you, rather than give the salty snakes the time of day. Keep moving forward!

@@BricksOBrian This might be the most encouraging counter point ever made! Thanks for taking the time to type it out and for ever wanting to raid me in the first place, I really appreciate it!

I rarely raid anyone I haven't built a close relationship with personally, unless I build a sincere friendship with that person I don't raid them, I view raids as sending a group of friends to my other friends, nothing more, and I don't expect them to raid me back, I sincerely thank you if you do, but it's never required, great video Pat, I can see why you turned them off.

Hi Pat! Good to see you. I watched and heard your opinion about raids and I have to agree with you. My experience has been positive so far. Whenever I get one, I’m very grateful and thankful for it. Also if you don’t mind, I will watch more content like this to know your opinion on different topics regarding streamers. Keep bee awesome. Have a great day

I always get anxious about anything involving expected reciprocity. Raids fall into that category. I don't want anybody to think they HAVE to raid me because I raided them or feel like I have to raid someone to pay them back when I was planning on raiding someone else. Luckily, as a tiny streamer, nobody is ever going to raid me expecting to make it big. Great points! Looking forward to the next PatTalk.

Definitely relatable, I am so in my own head half the time it isn’t even funny. Thanks for sharing your experience Erica!

This was an interesting discussion. I'm not a streamer, but it's neat to see it from your side of the lens and the thought process involved. Thanks, Pat.
