I live in Blue Springs all my life. I was in 3rd grade when he won American Idol. Every single kid in my class were ecstatic about him winning. One day in James Walker Elementary, our teacher announce that we were getting an assistant teacher. We were all like wow amazing, but when that man walked into our classroom.. he was so familiar but our teacher asked us to quite down. This man announced he was Mr. Andrew Cook, the brother of David Cook. All the kids were so excited meeting Andrew alone is was crazy (AND he was our teacher too!) For the rest of the year he told us if we were on our best behavior, we would get a surprise. Lo and Behold, we tried our darnest being the best kids in the whole school. At the end of the year David Cook himself visited our class as we were having a movie day. I can't remember how honored we were meeting the two brothers (We were kids so the idea of the celebrities in OUR classroom made the other classes so jealous, it was the best bragging rights i ever had.) So Mr. Andrew Cook, if you're reading this somehow: I'm sorry during "Finding places named with an H" in class, for saying New "Hamsterdam" instead of New Amsterdam, I thought it was funny.

God he's so gorgeous! LOVE watching his homecoming! He was so humble and it was so incredibly well-deserved! I love his original music since Idol. If you haven't heard it, check it out on I-Tunes! First CD "David Cook", second one "This Loud Morning" and he's working on his third one now, with the first single called "Laying Me Low", which is fantastic!!

I remember feeling so sad at the passing of his brother Adam to cancer... and guessing David probably felt some guilt all around because he made the show while Adam didn't, as well as sorry to miss out on time with him because of the AI tour. Life happens the way it does for a reason though, even if we don't understand it & there WAS a reason he was brought to Idol. I've suffered with major depression most of my life, but David's voice / music has been a balm to me more times than I can count. Doubt I'm alone in that. Hope that David knows he deserves every ounce of good in his life & career because he brings joy with the gift of his voice and song writing - and his brother's an angel.
