When you talk about weighing in, what would you say are some boundaries that should be kept intact as well as cdossed when communicating with a fulm's director. How good of an idea is it for a director and producer to be friends, and what are ways to maintain professionalism?

Producers and directors can be friends but it is a working relationship, so important to treat it as such. Ultimately safety, health and working conditions are Producer’s job, so if anything is stepping out of line there, it’s producer’s job to override director. If director wants to do something that isn’t safe or could be unsafe or illegal, producer must step in, for example.
