Something I want to share that I have experienced with my clothing business. Print on demand is great for small business owners but once you see growth in your brand it is important to stir to better quality suppliers and buy in bulk. Screen printing and print on demand is great to avoid risk early on but if you have good ideas/products this strategy can really limit your growth. Only selling screen printed products is not a good long term strategy for any clothing business in today’s market. Your customers are more critical on quality than ever before. It’s the newest “design trend”

Good design is good design. The size of the graphic on most shirts is too large and goofy looking because they are designed by non designers. You don't need to fill the print area given. Make it the "right size" for the design.

Yup I totally agree. It's easy to fall far all the readily available printing processes and saturate the area. Da Vinci stated "the sophistication of simplicity". We are to remember that in the first milli seconds the automatic limbic system takes over and determines our natural initial reaction not only to art but to most situations in life. I am fascinated studying symbols (i.e" Man and his Symbols" written by Carl Jung and associates). Good luck and cheers from Alberta Canada!

In the T-shirt design world, where for decades really great T-shirts sold thousands, tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands and garment embellishment printers go by specific formats- 12x12 is standard and the top seller, 14x16 is oversized and everything over those formats, in real print shops, is considered oversized- it dictated screen, pallet and squeegee selection during production.. So this became the consumer expectation.. If your opening salvo is some random size call out that beginner T-shirt designers should start with, you need to go back and do some homework.. Size is money.. Time on press is money. For Digital, ink usage is money..
@Kittldesign Жыл бұрын
The16x20 was just a suggested size that maybe print on demand companies suggest. The first tip here was to fill the rectangle, not that you have to adhere to 16x20. This is more of a design tip to think about using the full real estate of your shirt, not so much about what potential size you will be printing. It could be any size. Screen-printing, heat-transfer, etc, are all different possible methods that can have a variety of sizes, but using a print on demand company like Printful, Printify, Awkward styles, have their limitations. Cheers!

Hey there. So long as you have an active Kittl subscription (even on Free tier) then you retain the licenses to use what you created while you were on a paid plan. I have seen multiple designs on Kittl that each have sonething I'd like to "extract" for a single design. Is it possible to use 2 designs in Kittl at once to create a "unique" design? The available elements are limited in a way and it'd be great if we could access multiple templates in a single project. Can this be done in Kittl or is there a workaround?
@Kittldesign Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, we encourage you to pull different elements and pieces from different templates to create your own design. The easiest way to do this to open up the second project in another tab, and you can simply copy and paste between browser tabs into your project to create your own. Multi-artboard functionality will be coming soon as well, so you have copy over full projects onto the same art-space if you like.

Oct 16, 2024, Kittl announced they are decreasing the monthly AI credits for all plans by more than 75%, and charging the same price, starting December 1, 2024.
@GillianGrimmettАй бұрын
I’ve commented on one of the other videos too but I seriously can’t believe they think they can get away with reducing credits again. At least last time it was only by 20/day. This time it’s by 60/day. This has to be the shadiest business practice ever. We all asked for credits to roll over. We meant all our credits, not 75% less if our credits. You can’t keep changing your subscription model and expect people to be ok with it. Especially people who gave paid for a yearly subscription. It’s really disgusting how you are treating your customers. None of the extra stuff you say you are adding, sone of which is already added so not exactly ‘extras’, is worth a 75% reduction in credits for the same amount of money. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Just a money grab now.
@KittldesignАй бұрын
We hear you, and have been feeding everything back to the team. We understand this might feel like a reduction at first glance. Before we made this call, we performed a detailed investigation into credit usage and found that the overwhelming majority of designers weren’t using all of their credits under the daily system. We believe the monthly system will be much more fair and flexible once you give it a spin. We're very proud of our AI tooling-but from the beginning, we've maintained that Kittl is really so much more than an AI image generator! Plus we're constantly adding new features without increasing prices. With everything else in the pipeline (grids, rulers, vector editing, collaboration, and more coming soon) the value of your subscription will only increase. We hope you'll give us the opportunity to prove it.
@KittldesignАй бұрын
Hey there, we are not attempting to make a money grab. Kittl is much more than an AI generation tool. We've also responded to the main thread here below. We do appreciate the feedback and voicing your frustration. We've notified internal teams of all comments.
@theprintedfrogАй бұрын
@@Kittldesign I appreciate that you are reading comments and responding. Although, the only response I received via email felt pre-written and did not address my concerns. While I understand that not all users use all of their credits every single day, for me that is because the daily credits model is inefficient. For efficiency, I prefer to work in batches. You can't do that with daily credits that don't rollover. Having all credits available at the beginning of the month IS actually a good idea. (And it's what other AI services are already doing.) BUT not 75% LESS credits. That's an extreme decline, especially after the 20% decrease in AI credits just a few short weeks before. And almost all of Kittl's other features are available in Canva's free version. After working in Canva for years, I switched to Kittl because of the value of the AI credits and the convenience of having Kittl's other tools available within the same platform. That value will no longer exist as of December 1st and the convenience isn't worth the decrease. This doesn't work for me and thousands of others. If you execute this change, I will be canceling my subscription.

Hey great lesson! Quick question what size to the canvas or the design be when creating in Kiddle so that POD companies will understand and print right size on shirt????
@Kittldesign Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Our suggestion is to always go and check the Print on demands specifications. Almost all of them, whether it's Printify or Printful have pixel size guides for every product. For t-shirts, generally 4500x5400 is a standard size that should work across all PODs, but you can also select from our POD presets when you open a new project.

Hey im new to print on demand and still a noob at designing too😅. So i have a question.. if i use colours with a lower opacity on top of other colours, will the printer have any problem on printing that? Sometimes when I want to add shades to my design I just draw the shape of the shade in black and then reduce the opacity so it creates the actual shade effect but will the printer be able to print that lower opacity colour? I ask this because I see everyone adding the shape of the shade on top of the main colour and then just colour it in the same colour of the main colour but just with a bit darker tone. (They have de main colour red and then they do the shade in a darker red for example.) My doubt is if it will work the way I do it or do I need to do it like everybody else does.😅
@Kittldesign Жыл бұрын
Great question! But for a strong answer, you will need to check with the provider you plan to print with. They will be able to tell you if any layering or issues with transparency will take place. From our experience, most of the time there is no issue, but occasionally a printer will have difficulty distinguishing the middle overlayed color. For print on demand, typically there will be a error or warning notification that pops up stating that there is a transparency issue.

I just started garment design printing a week ago and my remaining problem seems to be at the design stage. I'm unable to print border less printouts. I don't want to manually cut the print outs as this will not result in smooth, clear designs before transferring. It seems like such a simple problem but I've asked everyone from Rich Kuhn to Mr Santos (experts) about fixing my issues to no avail. I'm starting with the basics, inkjet printer, transfer paper and domestic iron. If I can't produce clean transfers using this equipment I see no reason to invest in the next level of equipment. I'm using online editors like Canva. What am I missing? How do I design/print border-free designs? Thanks! =).
@Kittldesign Жыл бұрын
Hey there. I'm not sure we can help further if you've already consulted with one of our collaborators, Rich, who is a master at printing yourself. Generally, the way to print borderless comes from making sure you turn off borders in your print settings. There should be no issues with whatever design platform you are using.
@afriend8961 Жыл бұрын
@@Kittldesign And, are you familiar with these printer settings being universal for most/all printers and, do you recommend any printers to achieve these results? Also, are you saying the design process (in any platform) is not a contributor of bordered designs, etc? Thanks! =).
@afriend8961 Жыл бұрын
@@Kittldesign Thanks! The more I go through my trial and error with this, I've learned that my main issue has been the transfer paper. I'm using, I guess, basic iron-on paper (requires cutting, peeling, etc). The paper is what is producing backgrounds/borders, obviously. My designs don't have this. I figured the 'experts' would be able to figure out what my trials are and give me the 'bottom line' of how merch designs are made. Looks like my next step is to use DTF or whatever other transfers that will not replicate my issues. =).

Can I sell svg files of t-shirt design on Etsy?

You cannot sell Kittl SVG files on Etsy to be used for digital use, but if you are creating your own in some other platform or tool, then of course you can. :)

I thought you were talking about T-shirt design, but it's a promotion for pre-made graphics that a designer has already designed.
@KittldesignАй бұрын
We have many templates you can get started with, but you can also start completely from scratch. We have tons of videos on how to create your own t-shirt design from scratch. This video was showing examples that follow the rules mentioned.

Is using AI designs on items you sell something that could be a legal issue?
@Kittldesign Жыл бұрын
This will depend on the AI you are using, and whether or not it is in beta or not. But with Kittl AI, of course you can use those designs on your products!

Trying to find a video thata speaks of how high a line of text, for example, should be on the canvas. All the way up? Half-way down?... Where's the vertical center o fthe message?, the logo -- whatever.
@Kittldesign5 ай бұрын
This will largely depend on the medium of use. Will the design be a poster, a t-shirt, in a book, on a card? There are principles and design tactics to help with this, but sometimes what looks good to the eye is also important. We have a playlist dedicated to the basic principles of design which might be helpful for you! kzbin.info/aero/PL61ZNWKgjjiGNOcIvRwMYh4st30d7ctYI&si=AxtebFiFGoz0bA_W

Using the full layout for everything is lame. If you want to stand out make the size of your design proportional to the shirt. Consider the fact that everything around your design is negative space. It should be considered as part of your design. That means that not every design is going to look cool huge on your shirt. Tee shirts are a form of art, and good art is a balance of nuances. You can spot easily a "Red Bubble" "Society Six" shirt. They ALL use the same template no matter what the design. Next time you see a really cool shirt, like a celebrity wears ... Youll notice it doesnt follow the generic Print On Demand template.

Sure, these are just general tips and guidelines in a long list of potential styles you can utilize for t-shirt designs. Following a format to begin with is helpful for beginners.

kittl doesnt have 90s rap style tees templates. Its been the hottest thing for the past few years

We do have a ton of 90s streetwear style designs! Maybe not specifically about "rap" but they can be easily edited to do so. Cheers! 😉
@MentalPistol Жыл бұрын
@@KittldesignI hear ya, but not just any 90s streetwear. I'm talking about "vintage rap tees" .. check it out, its a specific aesthetic that has been taking over, people have gone beyond rap and added all type of popular figures to them. Kittl might wanna look into that

16 X 20??? I doubt that most people don't have either a printer or a press that will go that large.
@Kittldesign Жыл бұрын
Most print on demand providers can utilize this size! And it's also always better to start bigger and scale down, then to try to do the opposite.
@nottelling4205 Жыл бұрын
@@Kittldesign I appreciate appreciate all that you do but a great many of us don't have a thousand foot space to work out of or a printer that will do a 4 foot square print or a 10 thousand dollar heat press. So you don't want the design to distract from the design?
@Kittldesign Жыл бұрын
If the design perhaps has too much going on and is not legible or understandable, then it could be considered distracting.
