When running a pattern blind you say I can push him on back. Does that mean I should handle him to mark?

In this case, it's a blind retrieve, but you can stop it with the whistle and then push it back with a back-cast if it is hesitant. This will help build confidence.

Step it back and make it more simple. Use lining memories and pattern blinds.

Key concept: Every time a retriever hears the sit whistle he should understand that he needs to change directions with the next cast. Therefore stopping a dog and sending back to the original destination sends the wrong message. Whistle sit...ALWAYS change direction with the next cast....makes the T and double T more efficient in terms of teaching that key concept of no whistle= lining the correct route, whistle=need to change destination with next cast
