I don’t remember the title but I saw a documentary on a guy in the NFL who was diagnosed with ALS. He was a new father and was making videoes so his son could see who his father was. Not only was it difficult to see his body deteriorate but his wife was clearly pulling away from him and starting a relationship with his nurse. That must have been very painful for him to experience.

I grew up in the same town as Roger Ebert, and there is a film festival there every year in his name. It’s the same town that brought the world George Will, Alison Krauss, Paul Debevec, REO Speedwagon, Bonnie Blair and the band Champaign. It’s amazing how unassuming Champaign-Urbana, Illinois is, but I will say it was an amazing place to grow up.

Me too. I'm afraid it will be similar to Blonde without the pornographic aspects of that movie. I have a similar fear for the Michael Jackson movie where his pain and trauma will be commidified. This is not to say gloss his demons, but don't make it the main focus either. I'm simply tired of the commodification of pain and trauma of women and minorities in biopics.

There is an excellent new documentary out now called "Bad River". I goes into how Big Oil is running roughshod over the indigenous people who live along Lake Superior and also tells much of the history of how the US government, and specifically the Bureau of Indian Affairs, sells them out when there are corporate profits to be made, even when the profits are Canadian companies, not US.

I felt that the entire series was great, because the story was never about futurism or Sci-Fi, in the strictness sense. It was about the robots becoming Gods, and establishing a new pantheon. . It was one of the most intelligent tv series ever made. It has more in common with The Three Body Problem than the way we perceive Jurassic Park. . The intellectualism of Westworld is the closest that anyone has gotten to what Michael Crichton wrote about, in regards to the future and perception of our reality

Here is an idea, make a new or use existing competition for 6-12 best documentary movies each year across the world, and then put them in DVD quality on 50GB dual layer Blu-Ray as is used for 4K video for under 40$, so even people in developing parts of the world can afford the best of what last year produced, and watch it on TV or laptop with external DL Blu-Ray capable player, thus providing access that cannot be later removed by governmental or steaming services region blocking and removal from your purchases list because "we no longer having license" shenanigans... Got plenty of documentaries from Dogwoof, Michael Moore, Morgan Spurlock, Oliver Stone, etc. on DVD (Manufacturing Consent also on DVD from Noah Chomsky, and Hypernormalization on Web from Adam Curtis are among the most useful to see for young people to switch from lazy acceptance of official narrative to critical thinking) but not a big fan of steaming-only services, especially as people who need to watch these documentaries the most, often do not have good internet connection even in the US, far less in developed nations where people in power using the low-quality of average education against local communities.
