@@wetmix Kurt does not even make it to top 3 grunge frontmen if we strip off his fame and notoriety and purely focus on talent. I love morrison, the doors is one of my favourite bands, BUT since they've put freddy first i suppose they focus on more "objectively" talented singers rather than composers/distinct tones.

No one could out do Freddie. And I am sure he stuck in your head above all the other acts. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. I wished I could have seen Led Zeppelin and Queen. However, I lived in a little city in Illinois and scoring tickets in Chicago or Madison was hard for the big shows. You are so lucky to have seen Freddie and the rest of the band. Amazing.

@@DianeLake-sw3ym I lived close enough to Houston to travel for concerts. I always list Queen as the best concert I ever saw. David Bowie and Metallica rank in the top five. But no one outshines Freddie & Queen. I saw Queen + Adam Lambert last year. Adam is a very talented singer. Freddie was a singer and a show man. So much talent and charisma in one person..

layne staley definitely deserves to be on this list, vocals are unmatched and just great man in general.. also i think the reason kurt wasn’t higher is because his live performances usually don’t display the full extent to his talent. he also liked to do this just to piss of fans. don’t get me wrong, he was a very great and talented frontman, just unfortunate in the aspect of live performance :(

But by the criteria of the video he doesn't fit because he didn't do very good stage presentation, just stood there most of the time, and he's DEFINITELY NOT A BETTER VOCALIST THAN CHRIS CORNELL not by a long shot. I love Layne but I'm a singer too and I sound just like Layne, he's not as unique as you think, it's just because he sings "wrong" or different. As a trained singer I guarantee you that Chris is 10x better l. But this list isn't about personal opinion it's about the talent and stage presence.
@evanneal4936
@evanneal4936 6 ай бұрын
@BigPoppaDro Chris Cornell is 10x better. Layne even said so. I'm also a trained singer, so I know. You probably aren't trained and judge "talent" by your personal opinion or because you like or prefer how it sounds... but you can't argue with the fact that Chris is more talented and sounds better than Layne. Chris Cornell could cover Layne and hit his notes EXACTLY, but Layne CAN'T do the same for Chris Cornell songs...

Alice Cooper, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland…there were a lot of worthy male singers left off this list. We all knew that Freddie would be number one because of course, who else? That being said, I was extremely excited to see Chester Bennington make this list. He had another band that he fronted called Dead By Sunrise. Quite a different vibe than LP and a lot lesser known, but still amazing!! He even took over STP for a couple years after Weiland left. One of my biggest regrets is that I never got to see him sing live. I still cry over his loss now, and my very first tattoo is in his honor. His voice literally saved my life. Definitely gone way too soon

I would say Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver would be a great honorable mention. The way he moved on stage was mesmerizing. As well as Layne Staley from Alice In Chains and Steve Perry from Journey. All of them were fantastic.

As an impartial Beatles fan, let me say yes, he was truly singular and no one could really emulate him, but both Plant and Jagger had comparable stretches of ascendancy. Mercury had an edge as a vocalist and had a more versatile sensibility, while the other two had better stage presences with well established personas. I'd also venture to say that even though Mercury was a better overall vocalist with a greater range, Plant and Jagger rise to the occasion and have vocals that are better suited for the type of songs they wrote. Jagger is rock, Plant is hard rock, and going by Daltrey's assessment mentioned in Wikipedia, Mercury was a virtuoso. I'm just saying, Mercury doesn't walk away with a clean win.

Chris Cornell deserves top 3 though just by the sheer fact that he's the most talented singer and overall musician on the list. MOJO on this video didn't give him enough credit... imagine just one guy who can hit the high notes of Axl rose/Robert plant, rob halford, etc. But also the same low notes as Eddie Vedder, and can play guitar as good as slash or Toni iomi or better than Paul stanley or others, he plays piano as good as Freddie mercury, plays drums as well, and does all the stage antics the video credits eddie vedder with having done (he learned it directly from Chris).

tysm for mentioning Paul Stanley, a lot of people like to hate him because he cant sing in the most recent years. just look up Kiss animalize tour and you'll realize he used to be one of the best rock, hard rock, glam metal vocalists of the 70s and 80s. decades and decades of singing like that obviously will wear his voice down.
