But by the criteria of the video he doesn't fit because he didn't do very good stage presentation, just stood there most of the time, and he's DEFINITELY NOT A BETTER VOCALIST THAN CHRIS CORNELL not by a long shot. I love Layne but I'm a singer too and I sound just like Layne, he's not as unique as you think, it's just because he sings "wrong" or different. As a trained singer I guarantee you that Chris is 10x better l. But this list isn't about personal opinion it's about the talent and stage presence.
@evanneal49366 ай бұрын
@BigPoppaDro Chris Cornell is 10x better. Layne even said so. I'm also a trained singer, so I know. You probably aren't trained and judge "talent" by your personal opinion or because you like or prefer how it sounds... but you can't argue with the fact that Chris is more talented and sounds better than Layne. Chris Cornell could cover Layne and hit his notes EXACTLY, but Layne CAN'T do the same for Chris Cornell songs...

As an impartial Beatles fan, let me say yes, he was truly singular and no one could really emulate him, but both Plant and Jagger had comparable stretches of ascendancy. Mercury had an edge as a vocalist and had a more versatile sensibility, while the other two had better stage presences with well established personas. I'd also venture to say that even though Mercury was a better overall vocalist with a greater range, Plant and Jagger rise to the occasion and have vocals that are better suited for the type of songs they wrote. Jagger is rock, Plant is hard rock, and going by Daltrey's assessment mentioned in Wikipedia, Mercury was a virtuoso. I'm just saying, Mercury doesn't walk away with a clean win.

first off, thanks for adding paul stanley to this list and secondly, miljenko matijevic of steelheart, michael sweet of stryper, the recently departed cj snare of firehouse and many other hair/glam/pop metal vocalists all need to be added to this conversation.

talking of front men and not mentioning Alice Cooper and Blackie Lawless (W.A.S.P) seems rather crazy to me, as they have been pioneers of the theatrical Rock scene.

Bono and Eddie Vedder right in a row. I’ve seen both multiple times and neither disappoint. Bono can command a stadium and connects personally. Eddie’s vocals are so unique and undeniable. ❤️ them both.

Chris Cornell deserves top 3 though just by the sheer fact that he's the most talented singer and overall musician on the list. MOJO on this video didn't give him enough credit... imagine just one guy who can hit the high notes of Axl rose/Robert plant, rob halford, etc. But also the same low notes as Eddie Vedder, and can play guitar as good as slash or Toni iomi or better than Paul stanley or others, he plays piano as good as Freddie mercury, plays drums as well, and does all the stage antics the video credits eddie vedder with having done (he learned it directly from Chris).

tysm for mentioning Paul Stanley, a lot of people like to hate him because he cant sing in the most recent years. just look up Kiss animalize tour and you'll realize he used to be one of the best rock, hard rock, glam metal vocalists of the 70s and 80s. decades and decades of singing like that obviously will wear his voice down.

A million percent agree with Freddie being #1. I mean he had to be. He’s the greatest and there’s just nobody that could compare. I’m also happy to see Steven, Iggy, Mick, Gerard, Bon, Ozzy and Chester on here. I’d also like to add Tom Petty, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Steve Perry, Luke Spiller, Billie Joe Armstrong, Scott Weiland, Eric Martin, Brian Johnson, Bruce Springsteen, Alice Cooper, Dee Snider and Brett Michaels to name a few
