Ewan McGregor blew me away in Moulin Rouge, the tone of his voice is so crisp and clear. I became a bit obsessed with his cover of My Song after seeing the film cause I love the way his voice sounds in it. I was 11 when the movie came out but didn’t see it until I was 13 and I didn’t know it was a cover of Elton John’s song at the time 🫣 only found out cause my dad heard me listening to it and he started singing along to it too and I was like, “how do you know this??” and he told me it was originally by Elton John 😅

Most definitely! I too was completely obsessed with the movie and watched it on repeat. I used to be able to recite every single song haha I used to walk to work which was a couple of miles away, so I'd pass the time by singing them. And my best friend and I would sing the elephant medley to each other on drives in the car lol Then when I introduced Moulin Rouge to my daughters, they fell in love with Ewan and the movie too. Then Jensen Ackles, having released to this day 2 albums together with Steve Carlson under the band name Radio Company. During conventions he regularly delights audiences with his cover songs, delicious! Furthermore Robert Downey jr, who also released a delightful album ''The Futurist,'' and also sang in other movies. Here's a few others I can think of where actors were actually great singers: .Jason Segel in The Muppets (2011) (he really brought comedy when he co-sang "LIfe's A Happy Song" with Amy Adams and Walter, but he brought emotion to the Oscar-winning song "Man or Muppet" along with Walter) .Robin Williams in Aladdin (1992) (he must've sang in movies before Aladdin, but he really brought different music chops to Friend Like Me, and Prince Ali) .Angela Lansbury in Beauty and the Beast (1991) (We've heard Lansbury singing on films, TV, and Broadway before but she really killed Mrs Potts singing the title song of Beauty and the Beast) .John C. The headline of this video mystifies me. Most movie actors have stage experience, voice classes, as well as acting classes. There are some actors who can't carry a tune in a bucket, but most have the training. I know that I've had plenty of classes, and kind of had to relearn after my voice changed in puberty to a baritone. Dwayne Johnson took months of voice classes to learn to sing before recording his part in Moana, and yes, he did great work there. That's impressive. Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix both went through a lot of vocal training in preparation for Walk the Line, and they were fantastic. Also, James Cagney and Christopher Walken, both known as movie tough guys, started out as song-n-dance men on stage. Cagney puts on full display in the movie Yankee Doodle Dandy, the film adaptation of George M, a stage musical that I have worked on.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Clint Eastwood!! I watched him in many westerns and Dirty Harry movies, but I didn't have a crush until I saw and heard him sing in a much earlier film/musical "Paint Your Wagon"😍‼️

My biggest surprie was A Chorus Line when Audrey Landers started to sing. I've only known Ms. Landers from Dallas and other 1980s TV-shows and never knew that she could sing. To this day, A Chorus Line is still firmly in my top 10 favourite musicals (and yes, Chicago with Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones is in it as well).

My surprise was probably just my ignorance, But I loved Hugh Laurie as Dr. House. He played the role as a man needing a cane and with a true pure American accent. Then I saw him on a talk show in Europe with his real British accent and began to sing and dance. Then I find out he's a very accomplished touring song and dance pro.

Taron is an amazing vocalist and actor…his love of Elton’s music and his acting and musical ability blew everyone away…but Elton’s support of Taron is the feather in the hat!!! The Rocketman movie would never have gone ahead if Elton hadn’t have given his support to Taron portraying him and Taron did an absolutely phenomenal job!
@RoseCentaur19165 ай бұрын
It's because of Taron's performance of "I'm still Standing" from Sing that Elton John picked Taron to play him in the Biopic. o.o

Taron Egerton I thought that would’ve been Sing not Rocketman. That movie came out in 2016. RDJ sounds sooo different from singing vs talking I didn’t know his voice could get that high. With him being so deep. Maybe I’m just used to the Iron Man movies. I don’t know. I don’t hear him sing that much.
@soralena68455 ай бұрын
I came here to say this! His character even sang an Elton John song in that movie which is why they wanted him for the Elton John Movie!
@TheMennomilist4 ай бұрын
RDJ actually sang "Smile" for the Chaplin movie he was in back in 1992. He has his own jazz type of album. I bought it when it came out (which was probably pre-Iron Man days or around the same time the first film came out).
