All of these points are incredibly valid! Being a 55 year old lifelong fragrance junky, I can attest to each and every one of them. The most important of these, to me anyway, are that one shouldn't get caught up in any kind of hype, also that different body chemistries will accept and display fragrances differently... And as all of us "old timers" know, it's all in the dry down. Cheers, Gang!

Awesome video, Nixon. One more tip I'd like to add; wear what you like, not what you think others will like on you. A lot of people are "compliment hunters" and will only want to wear fragrances out of "compliment magnets" list videos on KZbin. I even saw comments like "how many sprays to get compliments" 😅 I believe 99% of fragrances can get you compliments if you have a charming well mannered personality. A compliment is directed towards the person, the fragrance is just the catalyst to it.
@AMPA3233
@AMPA3233 2 жыл бұрын
Nice one, Nixon. The layering technique is real and good. Lets hear your combos with that. I also think that this spraying on pulse points is over rated. These are for those places where it is cold. It is only recently that the world is opening upto middle east perfumes. Most of the perfumes that are out of europe etc wereand are used in cold weather, where for the perfume to work some body heat was necessary, to get it to evaporate and start working. in other other countries were it is hot, best way is to go spraying on your clothes. It will definitely last longer. You can spray behind your collar or on the inside of your shirtcuff.

Hey, recently I've only come across your channel and just wanted to say what an awesome one it is too :) Guys like you and Joy Amin are some of the most genuine reviewers out there, your honest opinions of the lesser known middle eastern frags are just 👌🏻People that dismiss the likes of Lattafa are really missing out. Love this vid too, I did know most of the tips but picked up a few new ones so thank you 😊😊

My tip would be.. To judge a frag you need to atleast use 10ml to know a frag.
@nikhilchugh2339
@nikhilchugh2339 2 жыл бұрын
10 is way too much in my opinion. 2-5 ml are more than enough. I'd say 5 ml is the sweet spot but if the budget is an issue then 2ml works well too!

Ha! This was really fun, thank you so much for taking the time to collect your strongest convictions and best ideas in order to share them here. I am 100% with you when it comes to sampling. The best way to try loads of fragrances; you'll increase your self-awareness and develop your own tastes into something more discerning and sophisticated AND you can use these hundreds of vials as educational tools in more ways than I can begin to list here. Learning to spot notes, comparing your evaluations to those of all the strangers online and who post reviews on Fragrantica, understanding characters of fragrances that cross over categories etc. It goes on. People who buy samples are REAAAAALLY into fragrance. People who just want to smell good buy a few big bottles and that's that. Two different species.

Great video and very helpful. One sensitive point about perfumes and that leaves the fragrance industry in a bad light no matter what brand your are. Is the fact that perfumes are reformulated and instead of going in the direction of an improvement actually turn out to either last a lot less on the skin; or simply loose the grit with which it made its success on the shelves. Added to this you are bound to get a price hike on it too! Imagine if other industries worked like this. We'd be in a lot of trouble. I'm thinking of health, pharmaceuticals or even the engineering fields. I see the perfume industry being a lot like a snake oil vendor. They will entice with a great scent and two bottles down the line you will have to pay a premium price for some watery residue.

One thing I would say is that "the 6-8 spays maximum" that you are describing should depend on the atomizer of the fragrance you are using... If it has a crappy atomizer that does not spray out a lot, you can double-down on the sprays
