I started a 2-year diploma course in September 2023. I’ve completed 4 semesters so far, and I will finish my studies this December, making it a total of 5 semesters (16 months). 3 Full Time Student and 2 Part Time. • In the September term, I took 5 subjects (15 credits) as a full-time student. • In the January term, I took 5 subjects (15 credits) as a full-time student. • In the Spring-Short term (May-June), I took 1 subject (3 credits) part-time. • In the Spring-Long term (May-August), I took 2 subjects (6 credits) part-time. • In September 2024, I plan to take 7 subjects (21 credits) as a full-time student. Will I be eligible for a 3-year PGWP, or could it be less?

Hi, if it was actually full time but it states part time, I would talk to the school about that and ask them to correct it.

Please answer this question , IRCC says , a student can apply for PR after graduation with 1 year job experience in RELATED FIELD OF study. My question is how much RELATED the job should be !!?? Like if I graduate from International Business, a job in any business, management, administration, finance , accounting will count ( O A B category)? I received my application acceptance letter for PGWP from IRCC and in that letter, it is written “Please attach this letter to your present work permit Number (my co-op work permit number is written here) as proof that you are authorized to continue working with the same conditions i.e. (employer and occupation) until Feb 2023 or until a decision is made on your application, whichever is first. This extended period of work is authorized as per subsection 186(u) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations." But in the case of all my friends, it is written as “study permit” instead of “work permit”, whereas we together applied for co-op. What do you say can it affect my PGWP?

Hi po. Ask ko lang if 2 terms ako part- time student kasi pre-requisite course pa lang kukunin ko, then after that, 2 yrs full time student naman ako diploma program. Eligible pa rin ba ako for PGWP? Nag part time lang ako kasi may pre-requisite course prior to be accepted sa program.

As long as you did not work more then 20 hrs a week. If you get a bonus or vacation pay or something, that should be okay.

Hi, I have a question... I applied to my PGWP last May 12th, currently, I am still waiting for my approval. Now, I have a potential employer and I might start working with them by the second week of September. However, my study permit will expire by August 31st same as my SIN. I believe that I am allowed to work since my status is "implied" or "maintained"? Will that give me a problem accepting a job offer (this September) with an expired study permit/SIN?

As you mentioned, yes as long as you applied for your PGWP and are still waiting for a response you are on implied status during which you can work and stay in Canada. Since you applied back in May I would contact IRCC to get an update. It usually should not take that long.

Depends on the program. If you have a two year Full time program you usually get a summer break and a spring break.

You can work after you applied for it and are waiting for the decision being made. Once you know its declined, you have to stop working. If it gets approved, you just continue. But you can not work if your studies are done and you haven't applied for PGWP yet
