Possible explanation for Okiku’s Doll: there are some traditional dolls in Japan that are made to have hair that is held in place by tying the doll’s hair in a knot inside of the doll’s head. The knot can loosen naturally over time or as the doll is played with which makes it look like it’s hair is growing

japanese horror is one of my favorite categories of horror. the similarities it has to a tasteful mix of glitchcore,dreamcore, and macaute aesthetics is what makes it so unique like how strange the yokai are and the art of junji ito, its the perfect definition of how art isnt supposed to have a point and how it doesnt need to be grounded into reality. japanese horror is also one of those genres that works best with music and paintings while common horror (old internet and 80's) is focused on vocal unfamiliarity and photos.

The "Dream School" story I find especially scary because I had a dream almost exactly like that. I was able to eventually escape, but it took days.. or it felt like it. Only a few hours had passed irl, though. I was being pursued by.. something. I never saw it. But I knew it was deadly, because there were decapitated bodies pinned to walls. Their heads lying on the ground near their body. Many of whom I recognized. I eventually found my own body. When I attempted to reattach my head to my body, a door appeared, and I woke up, screaming. Ah, yes. I absolutely love especially the ones that are said to have a curse on them. I'm not particularly afraid, but it's the closest to being able to scare myself silly. I remember reading miscellaneous instructions for "ritual games" or "games you should never play" as a kid and losing sleep for days.
