My son's been doing this for over a year. I usually workout with him on Sundays so this week I tried this. I knew I wasn't as strong. I was worried about my back. Glad I saw this. I'll make sure I'm more aware of my form now. The addition of Jesse's intro was pricelss. Go Jesse! (Keep the lasers)

I used to do 5 sets of 12 rollouts, going as far out as I could without compromising my hips. If my hips tilted back, I went out less far. Glad to know I was getting it right. Recently I've switched to rolling out as far as I can without compromising my hips, holding it a few seconds at full extension, and only then rolling back in. I have to limit it to 3 sets of 10, but holy crap my abs feel it the next day or two. Thanks for covering how far to deviate to the side to get some rotation in, I was holding off on that because of conflicting information. Hello new set 2!

A huge fan of you here. Jeff, it would be very nice if you make a video on rope jumping. A very popular exercise. I am about 95 kilos, lost 10 recently, and I would like to know if it is bad for my joints to jump and skip. Continue doing what you do, it’s great and you’re a big inspiration for people like me! got an ab roller in the other day. Tried it on my own at first, did 2 rolls and I could tell I was tensing my lower back, which def hurt, and didn't feel any abs being worked so I knew I was doing something wrong. Last night I looked up how to do ab rolls and found this video. This morning I did ab rolls correctly, and wow, no lower back pain and on top of it, of course I'm feeling it in my abs. This vid def helped me out in doing proper ab rolls!

Question: so I've done rollout in all manner of forms. Does bracing with a belly breath help stabilize at the horizontal portion or is it counter productive? I guess how should breathing be done with these? Also... AthleanX needs more lasers.

Intraabdominal Pressure is definitely advised. Use whatever breathing method you use to maintain that. Essentially doing what you should do when squatting.

Hey Jeff, cool ab roll out coverage. Your explanation makes perfect sense- i know i was doing it wrong. Thanks for your coaching. Now, I came up with a compound exercise I'm pretty content with but I'd like your critique for expounding on its benefits. So, because I don't have the time to drive to a gym, I workout at home (I'm very satisfied with my time management) so I limit my time to the most critical demands for maximum results and be done. Therefore, compound exercises is key. Now, I didn't invent this entirely, but in part - nor have I seen anyone do this technique either. I call it the Military Squat Raise. So, I lift the barbell from a deadlift position and powerlift it into a shoulder hold. I start into a squat and as I push up, I press the weight over my head for a tandem extension ending in a calf raise before lowering back down for a full rep. Today, I can do 15 reps of 90lbs. This provides an amazing oxygen-debt experience that conditions the respiratory tract as well. My focus is maximizing the metabolic effect for fat burning and cardio respiratory conditioning (it's better than a cup of coffee). Anyway, I'd like your feedback on your insight and any additional compound exercises you're willing to provide. (Let me know if a brief video presentation is necessary.) Thanks abundantly. Tigerman

I use chair for “back line” to avoid hip flexing this will make some awareness where to stop, after some time chair won’t be needed.

You have to do lower back exercises Maybe your core or your lower back is too weak and you need stronger abs I would recommend doing hip flexor free ab exercises Or you have over active hip flexors and you need to stretch them Jeff covers all of the points i mentioned above in other videos You need to search for them

If you’re holding the proper posterior pelvic tilt then it probably means you’re doing it right and the burn is the correct muscles working.

Make sure your core is stable and that your lower back is not sunk in. That could be why your low back is hurting.

I just picked this bad boy back up! Been awhile, I was probably making most of these mistakes. I watched the other video before I tried again... couldn’t get up without rolling this AM, thanks a lot Jeff! Lol. 1. keep arms straight 2. initiate pull with torso, not arms 3. don't let butt go behind knees, stop wheel at head/eye level 4. stay in posterior pelvic tilt 5. experiment with rolling out at angles

Jeff or anyone i really need advice on splits and training. I used to weight 350lbs but i lost some of it now i weight 215. I work 12 to 16 hour days 4 on 4 off. Right now i do all my workouts like this. 1st day off: Morning: chest Miday: arms & abs 2nd day off: Mornings: Shoulders Miday: back & legs 3rd day off: Repeat 1st day off 4th day off: Repeat 2nd day What do you think need advice

I do a thousand rollouts, when I was 18 I used to do it daily, now it's once or twice per week.. 4 series of 250 or 5 series of 200. It usually takes me between 1hour to 1:45 minutes... And I suppose I don't do it totally right, I've noticed how it's more difficult with the arms/elbows locked and usually I'm not very sored in the ab area.. So for sure I don't do it perfectly all the time. I do have a 6 pack, sometimes 8 pack. but thank you. You're an inspiration man

When I heard Jeff say if you can perform a 100 reps of these abs wheel rollouts you can't be doing it right & I was the first to agree, I am 1 of those who does 100 reps of this exercises regularly & probably mostly likely weren't doing them perfectly like Jeff at every single rep "it's an exercise hard to see yourself when doing" but never all the wrong ways Jessie did it though. I did video tape a couple of workouts with rollouts & it looked ok & then I corrected myself & did it exactly "as close as I possible to Jeff's perfect form" & were still able to reach 100 reps, I know I'm in nowhere close to Jeff's strength, athleticism, expertise & physique but there are some people who can do certain amazing things out there even though they may not be experienced coaches, trainers or elite athletes.

Jeff how about video for AC joint problem on shoulder? Tryed long resting (4 week), rubber band rehabiting, stretsings, massages etc and it's slowly getting tiny tiny bit better, but its been now like 10 month. It can hurt while lifting, but in next day its "fine" again. Also while sleeping on that shoulder i can feel discomfort. Also some ball massage moves on wall can make the pain temporally go away. So then it feels like its normal for 1-2 sets.

No saggers or no banannas is what to remember when using these. Like all core, proper form is paramount. If I could do 100 rollouts I would not be using proper form. This is a great video. People need a trainer before beginning any fitness regimen. Cathe Friedrich has taught me a lot!
